As most of you probably know from my last post, I got to do Zumba at the Phillies game last night! My mom is a Zumba instructor and got invited to dance with the Phillie Phanatic during the game. My mom was able to invite about 15 instructors to dance with her. I’m not a Zumba instructor…but I am her lovely daughter! Dancing on the field seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity that I could not pass up. I was also dying to meet Chase Utley!
My mom taught me the routine on Saturday and I went home on Monday to practice it a little more. I was pretty nervous about doing it with 10 other real instructors but it was just 90 seconds of dancing. We met all of the instructors at the game and got to watch the first 3 innings. My aunt, cousins, and family friends were there watching too! It rained the whole way there but luckily it held out until the end of the game.
I got really nervous once the stadium started to fill up so I knew it was time for some beer! The 2 beers really helped me calm down!
After the 3rd inning, we were escorted down to the women’s locker room! I felt so VIP!
We danced around the locker room for a while. All of the sudden, the Phillie Phanatic came barging in! We all started screaming in shock and excitement!!
I was able to snap a quick shot of the Phanatic with my mom before he took off his head. I got yelled at for trying to take a picture of his actual face while he chatted with us. It was so weird to see the guy behind the costume! He was super nice and funny! We went into the hallway to show him our routine!
Eventually we were brought down to the field. It was so exciting and nerve-wracking while waiting for the inning to be over!! We snapped a few pictures while waiting!
Can you tell that my mom and aunt are twins?? We snuck my aunt down with us to do the picture taking. Luckily they did not say anything!
The rest of the girls…
Almost time…shit!!!
It was killing me how close we were to the players but not close enough to meet them! I had a Sharpie down my shorts just in case!
After the 5th inning, it was time!!! My aunt got some short video clips! Sorry about the shakiness!
It was so much fun! I was so happy that I (barely) messed up the routine! I loved that the Phanatic came out in a dress! He was dancing with my mom the whole time! We bought a professional video of our entire dance so I will try to post that once it comes! I was told that we were on the giant screen but I was too nervous to look up!
I did glance over at the Phillies and they were watching us!! I made sure to shake my booty a little extra when I saw that! They announced my mom’s name over the loud speaker at the end too. It was such a cool experience.
The Phillie Phanatic met us in the locker room afterwards to snap a few pictures!
We all went back to our seats after to finish watching the game and everyone started cheering! My mom and I took a walk around to meet her friend and people actually recognized us and said, “Great Dancing!” So cool! My mom might be performing with the Flyers and at a few cancer walks in the future so I may just have join in again! So fun!
Stay tuned for my next post about my intenSati filiming yesterday! Have a great day!

You and your mom doing Zumba together at the game is the coolest thing EVER!! My heroes. I got all wistful seeing this–my mom is a total Zumba queen (not an instructor, though she definitely should be) and I loved going to Zumba with her while I was in the States so much that I might end up training to be an instructor. This definitely makes me want to do it even more
