Zen Palate Blog Date!

Helloooo Friday! I had a great night last night and am very excited for the weekend! I don’t even know exactly what I am doing yet but no work=a very happy Missy.

I started off the day with my usual oats and a cup of coffee. I was very sleepy yesterday.

During lunch I ran to Mandee because my pants that I bought 2 days ago had a hole in them. That’s about 20 minutes up and back so I got a little exercise! I have to go back again today because I bought boots too. I was about to put them on this morning and realized one was a size 7.5 and the other was a size 6!. Both were lefts too! The girl even checked; or I guess pretended to check the shoes when she rung me up. I guess I should have checked too. Very disappointing both mornings!

For lunch I brought some leftover Mexican from dinner on Monday night.

I brought some blue tortillas too.

Fun salad!

I snacked on a Z-Bar later in the afternoon.

Dinner!

My friend Jaclyn and I decided to do dinner last night! We discussed several healthy restaurants we’ve been wanting to try and finally met at one last night called Zen Palate.

About Zen Palate:

Our foods are imbued with rich flavors, expansive tastes and textures rarely seen in vegetarian foods. Interestingly, over 70% of Zen Palate’s patrons are non-vegetarians who simply cannot resist the heavenly combination of taste, health and freshness found in our menus. Our foods are developed and prepared with a diverse array of ethnic cuisine arts from around the globe including Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Mexican. Rather than buy processed ingredients from manufactures, we produce most of our foods on site from daily fresh top quality fruits and vegetables. Our menu archive contains nearly 1,000 recipes of various vegetarian dishes. We walked in and it looked like there was just a small bar and takeout area. The hostess took us back to the dining room which was very cozy and nice. We had to walk through the kitchen to get to the dining room which was a little surprising. Maybe the point was to show customers the cleanliness of the kitchen? I did enjoy watching them cook while waiting in line for the restroom!

Zen Palate restaurants have won numerous Awards of Distinction by Zagat Survey over the past 15 years. In addition to being voted by AOL CityGuide as both the #1 Best Vegetarian Restaurant and #1 Best Healthy Dining Restaurant in New York and Long Island, Zen Palate has also been featured in Continental Airlines Best of New York Series.

A great thing about Zen Palate is the BYOB policy! Most of you know that one drink in New York can range from $10 to $15 so the bill can get very high. Jaclyn was nice enough to bring us a bottle of wine. Thanks Jaclyn!

We decided to share an appetizer since we basically wanted to try every single thing on the menu! We got the Zen-tastic Tofu (pan-seared w. fragrant bean sauce, topped w. crispy kale).

The sauce was delicious!! Jaclyn and I both attempted to make kale chips before and decided these kale chips were 10000 times better.

My main course is not on the online menu but I think it was called Garden Delight: Salad with eggplant, asparagus, peppers, portabello mushrooms in a yummy sauce!

Delicious! Something about the eggplant was amazing.

Jaclyn got the Temple of Zen: A Ménage of string beans squash, carrots, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms, red cabbage and jalapeno pepper, topped with crunch kale & seasonal seeds.

She loved hers as well! We would definitely eat there again. My only small complaint was that the tables were very close together so the people on both sides of us basically listened to our entire conversation! I’m sure they were very entertained though.

Jaclyn told me she never went to Lite Choice before so of course I had to take her!!

We both got French Vanilla and Chocolate Hazelnut with carob/choco chips! She loved it of course!

Today after work I plan to go to Core Fusion. I feel like I am in desperate need of a good workout after being lazy all week! Hopefully I get some running in during the weekend as well.

Have a good weekend!

Oh I feel so ZEN after reading this post :)
So your bf's name is Nick too? I don't think I knew that! Thanks for sharing your funny significant other phrase. Adding "you" at the end of every sentence is similar to the "skee". It's weird, but cool to us! haha

Everything looks so good! I've never been to Zen Palate, which is silly because they're all over the place here! Must try.

    Love those TLC flavors.
