Walk in the Park Discoveries & MyWayCereal Review!

Last night, the boy and I decided on a relaxing dinner and a movie night. We walked to Austin Street in Queens which has tons of cute restaurants and stores. We checked out a few places and stumbled upon a really cute little cafe called the Network Cafe.

The inside was romantic and small with a nice bar and dimmed lights.

They had a specialty cocktail menu. I chose the Coco Cosmo: Malibu, Rose’s Lime, and Cranberry.

The boy chose the Purple Passion: Malibu, Bacardi, Orange Grey Goose, Cranberry, Blue Curacao. His is on the left.

His was way too strong for me but mine was fruity and delicious! We started out with hummus to start!

It was delicious! Thick and creamy with tomatoes on top.

We switched over to wine next. He got Pinot Grigio and I got White Zinfandel.

And 2 more! Our meal ended up taking over 45 minutes to come out. There was also only one server for the whole place so the service could have been better. Other than that, the food was delicious!

I got Atlantic Salmon with veggies and mashed potatoes. It was supposed to come with rice but they brought out potatoes instead so I gave most to my boyfriend since I am not a huge fan.

The salmon and veggies were delicious!! There was a mustard sauce that was so flavorful and amazing.

Boyfriend got the steak. I tried some and it was very good too!

We went to the movies after and saw Fast and the Furious. I was enjoying it for the 1st half hour but then I completely passed out for the entire movie! I am always extra tired on Friday nights and I guess the wine played a factor in it too. Oh well, I will have to rent it online when it comes out!

We got home and made some ice cream!

I still can’t get over how delicious the Turtle Mountain Cookie Dough is. Everyone must try it at least once!
I love my whipped cream!
We ended up watching CSI till around 3 in the morning. The boy brought chips and hummus in my room so I could not resist!

He got us out Cedar’s Roasted Red Pepper hummus. This was my first time trying any Cedar’s product.

He also brought us in Cape Cod Sour Cream & Cheddar Jack chips!

Both were delicious!! We seriously ended up eating almost the whole bag. So addicting!!

Sometimes cheddar chips have an overly empowering cheese flavor but these were perfect. The hummus was seriously my favorite out of Tribe and Sabra! Very thick and creamy with a delicious pepper flavor!! It actually has less calories than Sabra so I am going to stick with this brand when I can!

We woke up around 12 today and planned on going for a walk in the park since the weather was so nice! We decided to have a light breakfast since we would be exercising right after. Cereal sounded perfect!

A few weeks ago, I customized my own cereal at MyWayCereal! They ended up sending me Graduate Meghann’s Mix by mistake! I emailed them and they were nice enough to let me keep her mix and send me my own mix to review. I decided to try Meghann’s Mix today since I have yet to receive my own mixes.

My first bowl was Cheerios and some GraduateMeghann Mix on top!

Her mix included: Multi Grain Harvest, Dates, Mango, Flax Seed, Walnut & Sunflower Seeds.

This mix was pretty good but I felt that it was lacking in the fruit and seed add-ins. It did pair nicely with my cheerios but was a little plain to me.

I wanted another bowl of cereal so I decided to try her 2nd mix: Meg’s Crunchy Mix.

This mix included Vanilla Granola Crunch Base, Apple, Currants, Coconut & Crystalized Ginger.

I really loved the huge granola clusters! I was a little nervous about the coconut but I could barely taste it in the cereal so it was fine. At one point, I took a bite and tasted something very weird. I realized it was the ginger! The mix would have been perfect without it. I like ginger with my sushi but not in my cereal! Meghann agreed about the ginger in her review.

I will do another review once I receive Missy’s Mix! Overall I was very pleased and love the idea of cereal personalization!

We went to Flushing Meadows Corona Park after breakfast. It is a huge lake by my apartment with a really long track around it. We ended up taking a different route today and found so many exciting things!

There was bike and boat rentals, tennis courts, gold courses, and an ice skating rink! I never knew this existed near me! We also walked to the new Mets stadium and saw a game going on! We saw the World’s Fair building, Queens Theatre, the Queens Science Museum, and the Queens Zoo!!!

I was so mad that we brought no money with us because I wanted to go into the zoo so bad! I could see buffalo and goats from the outside and got so excited! It is great to know that I can walk there!

We ended up walking for 2 hours and 15 minutes!! I wore my heart rate monitor because I wanted to try to run a little and ended up burning 540 calories. I ran a few times but kept getting cramps in my side so I had to stop. My legs are so sore now! It was a great walk since the weather was so perfect!!

We also walked to the mall after which is another 20-25 minute walk! We stayed for an hour or two and bought some clothes.

We were both starving when we got home since we only had a banana since the cereal! We decided on the famous turkey/ham wraps!

I brought out Cedar’s Whole Wheat wraps to try! I noticed that they were 220 calories and my wraps are usually 110 calories so I was a little skeptical. They were twice the size of my usual wraps so it was completely okay! They were really good and did not break like other wraps do!

The wrap included:
  • Boar’s Head Low Salt Turkey
  • Boar’s Head Low Salt Ham
  • Alpine Lace White American
  • Lettuce
  • Cucumber
  • Banana Peppers
  • Pickles
  • Mustard
  • Cedar’s Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
Delicious!

With Cape Cod Cheddar and Sour Cream chips on the side and more hummus!

The boy just brought vanilla pudding in my room so I am off to go enjoy!!

While I pride myself on knowing Queens really well,I haven’t been to Austin Street!

You hit my three of favorite foods: hummus, cereal and ice cream! Cedars is hands down my favorite hummus brand, and I haven’t tried my way cereal or turtle mountain, so I will definitely check them out.

    Have a good night.

Your food all looks so good! The ice scream stands out more than anything – cookie dough is my absolute favorite so I’m not sure it would last long in our freezer! :)

Love your site. What is this my way cereal? I have to check this out. Cereal is my secret obsession. You can design your own? There used to be a place near us called cerality any kind of cereal and topping you could think of but they went out of business :(

Nutty Idea is about to launch a simple honey oat granola clustered based cereal line where you can customize your toppings of dried fruits and nuts.

We already have customers ordering our customized trail mixes and adding a dried fruit or two for their cereal. We just have not officially set up a page on our site.

    Check us out http://www.NuttyIdea.net
