Sushi Coma!

Last night my roommate took me to our favorite sushi spot for my birthday. You know you’re a food blogger when every birthday gift you receive consists of dinner and drinks. No complaints here!

We love  because the sushi rolls are only $2.99 and they are extremely delicious! It also helps that the restaurant is only a few blocks away! We started with some Sapporo. I was good and skipped the saki for once. Too much drinking lately!

Nothing beats a nice cold glass of beer. I had some green tea too. Weird combination now that I am looking at the picture.

We started with edamame.

Along with some miso soup.

We decided to go all out and get a bento box and some extra sushi rolls for the side! We went with the Shrimp Teriyaki Bento Box.

This thing was giant! We probably did not even need the extra sushi but we got an Eel Avocado roll and American Dream roll. We got all of the rolls with brown rice.

The American Dream roll is one of those not so healthy rolls made with shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, crab, mayo, and flying fish roe. I can see why it is called the American Dream! So good! Check out Gracie’s Trendy Tuesday post for more information on healthy and not so healthy sushi!

I started with some salad. They have the best ginger dressing there.

My next plate consisted of an American Dream roll, an Eel Avocado roll, and some Shrimp Teriyaki.

I stopped taking pictures there because it was just too good. It was a ton of food but we managed to finish most of it! We were both in sushi comas after dinner! We decided to go home, change into sneakers, and take a nice walk to digest a little! We ended up walking for a good 45 minutes which was nice. I tried to wake up for the gym today but that was a complete fail so I’ve got some Total Body Conditioning planned for after work! I haven’t really worked out since Monday (oops) so an intense sweat session is much needed. I had plans to workout in the morning on Tuesday because of the baseball game and Wednesday morning because of this dinner. For some reason I just haven’t been able to get out of bed that early! Last night I made sure to go to bed before 11 so I could wake up but I was still completely exhausted this morning. I guess all of this birthday partying is taking a toll on me. Next week should be a little more relaxed!

1) What are some of your tips for making it to the gym first thing in the morning?

2) What is your favorite kind of sushi?

I am choosing the winner of the Wachai Ferry Giveaway tomorrow!

  • Sushi coma’s are the best! But then I am usually hungry two hours later! I could eat sushi everyday. I think the combo of beer and tea goes well, ha. At least there are antioxidants in both!

  • This is going to sound corny but sometimes before I go to bed. I swear on someone very important to me that I will wake up and workout…and once my alarm goes off, I feel guilty if I don’t get up so it usually works lol…

Yums I am craving some sushi right now!

  • my tips for AM workouts, is when you are in bed and your alarm goes off..just think about all the other people who are up and working out and you are being lazy just lying in bed…think about how much better you will feel!!!

  • I just had my birthday earlier this month and I definitely fell off track my entire birthday week. Sometimes it’s good to let go and enjoy yourself a little too much. :)

  • Your pictures were so mouth-watering. I had to run out and grab sushi rolls for lunch. I got a brown rice california roll. I wish I had gotten one more roll. I’m hungry again :-)

  • I love eel rolls! Oh my god, I want that one! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed all these birthday celebrations. It says a lot about you that so many people want to celebrate you!
My tips for getting up the morning are to plan an errand after work so you have no other choice but to work out in the AM, or sign up for a class that if you skip you’ll get charged for anyway.

That means joining Core Fusion again haha. My normal gym classes don’t charge! Can’t wait for Rue la la sales.

  • Everything looks so good! I usually get sushi on my b-day, because it’s my favorite “special” food. I love that you did green tea AND beer at the same time. That’s actually something that I would do too (Especially in restaurants that BLAST the AC!).

I get myself to workout in the morning simply by reminding myself how hard it is to workout in the evening. I know if I don’t do it in the AM I will probably never do it!

  • Thanks for the shout out lady! :) Those photos definitely made me crave sushi!! I swear I could eat it 3-4 times a week! And isn’t ginger dressing SO good? I can’t seem to find a brand that tastes as good as they make it at the restaurant…

My best way of getting up in the morning is with an alarm clock that plays music that will pump me up, and keeping it across the room so I have to get up to turn it off. I also will sometimes wear my workout clothes to bed so I’m ready in the morning. ALSO, I drink A LOT of water before I go to bed so that I wake up having to go to the bathroom, another reason I’ll have to get up. And a plus, I’m really well hydrated for my workout. :)

  • Love sushi, such a good dinner! Whenever I need to get up for a morning workout, I set two alarms, one by my bed and one across the room. It forces me to get up and turn it off!

  • at my old job I made going to the gym in the morning part of my day…I just did it..it sucked at first but after awhile I just was use to going to bed early and up early. BTW bento boxes are TO DIE FORRRR

Two things really help me get out of bed in the morning for a good sweat session:
    1. picking out my workout outfit the night before (down to my socks and underwear) and putting it on my dresser so there’s no time to contemplate in the morning.
    2. having a workout buddy.
I find it much easier to get to the gym alone in the afternoon or evening; but when my alarm goest off at 4:45am… I need to know that someone is waiting for me at the gym to really get me out of bed.
