Hello! I have so much work to do today but I am taking a nice little break to blog! I will start from yesterday’s lunch since I obviously had the usual oatmeal for breakfast!
I always find out about new places to eat around my work because I am in charge of handling deliveries. People leave me their money and I pay the delivery guys. People always have food from a place in Chelsea Market called Lobster Place. I decided it was time to check it out yesterday!
They had so much delicious looking sushi but I knew I was having sushi for dinner so I didn’t get any! They also had all kinds of salads and wraps! Finally I decided on the Spicy Tuna Wrap!
Yellowfin Tuna mixed with spicy sauce then wrapped with Seaweed Salad, chopped Nori, and fresh scallions.
I got Cape Cod chips for the side. The wrap was delicious! The fish was so fresh and moist! It was a very nice change from my usual lunches! I will be back for the smoked salmon wrap very soon! So much more fun than when I used to bring turkey EVERY day!
It was hot outside and I was craving chocolate after. I walked by the Lite Choice and decided not to go because I was stuffed. I ended up turning back around and walking in after I saw that they had peanut butter fudge! Yum!
I also wanted to try it because the last couple of times, the fro-yo there has been bothering my tummy. It basically does exactly what sugar-free gum does to me. I wanted to give it one more chance! It bothered me again yesterday so I think I need to cut back. At least winter is coming so hopefully I won’t be as tempted!
Blogger Meetup!
After work, I met up with Mari from Namaste! She is also from Queens so she told me I had to try an amazing sushi place near her apartment called Ginza. Of course I agreed! She picked me up from the subway station and drove us to the restaurant. It was fun being in a car again!
We admitted right away that we both have anxiety issues and were nervous about the meetup! Luckily we got along great and talked the entire time!
I loved that they immediately brought us edamame without even asking for it!!
They also brought us a yummy cucumber salad without asking!
Mari asked me if I’ve ever tried Kani salad or Octopus salad. I told her I am scared of octopus but would be willing to try a little. We decided to share the Kani Salad instead since I was a little more open to eating it!
It was crab meat, cucumber, lettuce, tobiko, and mayo. It was pretty good! I don’t usually love things slathered in mayo but this was very tasty. Next time I may just try some octopus salad!
We ordered 3 rolls to share.
Mari suggested 2 of the rolls:
1) Godzilla: Fried Spicy Tuna, Avocado, Scallion, Masago and topped with Spicy Sauce (bottom left)
2) Liki 4: Spicy Shrimp and Crab Roll (bottom right)
I ordered the Cas: Spicy Salmon, Yellow Tail, Avocado, Topped with Masago and Mango.
They all had brown rice which was so much better than typical brown rice in other sushi restaurants. It was darker and had more flavor. The rolls were seriously so amazing. Definitely some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! I can’t even tell you which one was my favorite because they all melted in my mouth!
We decided to split the fried ice cream since we both never had it before!
Mari was a little sick so she couldn’t taste it! I thought it was just okay so we both only had a few bites.
The best part was that our waitress was taking shots at the table behind us. She was seriously wasted by the time we were done our meal! She did manage to take a picture of us after about 4 or 5 tries!
I would definitely come back to Ginza in a heart beat! Luckily I have leftover sushi for lunch today! Can’t wait!
Mari drove me home (so nice to not be in a subway!!) and we discovered a beautiful new building opening up in Queens. She says it is supposed to be a Century 21! Wahoo!!!
We found out we have so much in common (gum addicts, obsess about the gym, etc). One thing we talked about was how we both bring home leftovers and end up eating it that same night! I promised I would not eat the leftover sushi until today!
I was stuffed at the restaurant but of course when I got home I was tempted to eat the sushi! Instead I stuck it in the fridge and made baked apples with chocolate chips and cinnamon.
I am very happy I made that so I can enjoy my sushi today! I had a great time and the food was delicious! Thanks Mari!!
Off to lunch!!!!!!!! Sushi timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Whoa, looks like Ginza has AMAZING rolls. Will have to let the boyf know about that place! He loves sushi but usually orders from Mado, which we like because it's cheap, but they dont have very high quality ingredients. (I don't even think it's run by Japanese people!)

I love that wrap too, spicey tuna wrap sounds amazing!
cape cod chips are the best, when I was younger we would go to the factory in the cape and they gave out tons of free samples of chips!

wow that wrap sounds fantasic. I would be leary about eating sushi the next day. I once asked to take some home at a restaurant and they told me it should never be eaten the next day (unless it is all cooked)

Diana — there is Ginza in the city!
Missy, that tuna wrap looks amazing. I've seen Lobster Place but haven't gone in. I want to. The sushi looks like the best ever, Ginza is right near my apartment — right near The Body actually, on the same street. I need to pick up from there one night!
I wouldn't eat next day sushi. Keep in mind that sushi likely caused the infection that caused my GI problems. Be careful!
And I have known about that C21 for a year now, surprised I haven't told you!

Diana: I tried Mado once! It was pretty good but Chikurin right next door is even cheaper!! You have to try Ginza!
Lara and Dori: Why did I not think of that? Too bad I read this AFTER I ate the leftovers! Hopefully I'll be okay!! Oops!
Mari: Yes to Greek please!
