I’m sure you all know that I am a huge salsa fan. I eat it most nights out of the week for dinner. I was thrilled when I received 4 new jars of salsa from a company called Pepper Dog Salsa.
Pepper Dog Salsas are all natural products made without onions or vinegar and has a smooth consistency and smoky flavor, giving you a delicious alternative to traditional salsas. This salsa is good on chips & can be used in cooking and makes a great condiment for hot dogs & hamburgers. There are 3 levels of heat: mild, medium, hot.
I talked about the medium salsa once before but wanted to do a full review now that I tried each flavor.
The first time I tried the medium, I used it over a salad. Pepper Dog is the perfect salad dressing since it is smooth and does not have huge chunks like other salsas.
I was shocked at how spicy the medium was! Sometimes medium salsa is not hot at all. It can be hit or miss but I liked that it had some spice to it. Okay, my mouth was on fire but it was still very enjoyable!
I also used the medium salsa to add some extra spice to Lightlife BBQ Tempeh.
This was my first time trying tempeh by the way.
I topped everything over a salad with hummus and broccoli.
The tempeh was pretty good. I liked the soft grainy consistency. The salsa made a great sauce to give the tempeh some extra flavor. It is perfect to use for cooking as a marinade since it is so similar to sauce.
I tried the mild a few days ago.
Once again, I used it as a salad dressing….only 10 calories by the way!
The mild was still pretty spicy! If I had to choose, I would go with the mild since it still had a kick to it but did not set my mouth on fire. Might be one of the best salsas I’ve had in a while. I really loved it!
Last night, I decided to make a Mexican salad for dinner. I knew I had to try the hot but was a little nervous since the medium was so spicy!
I dipped a little on a blue corn tortilla chip.
It was actually not that much different than the medium. I was still on fire and needed 5 more chips to calm my mouth down but I guess I was expecting a little worse! Next time I am falling asleep and need to wake up, I am going to eat some of the hot! Would definitely do the trick!
I also tried the Verde on a chip.
The Verde is made with tomatillos, peppers, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, and spices.
I really enjoyed this one. It had a little spice to it but nothing I could not handle. It had a delicious flavor and mixed very well with the mild salsa for a salad dressing.
My favorite salad ever! I added steamed broccoli, mushrooms, cheddar cheese, peppers, corn, and rice.
Can’t have Mexican without a beer!
Pepper Dog Salsa can be found here. This stuff is good!
I cooled my mouth down with some banana soft serve a little later in the night.
Well I am off to go catch up on some blogs! Let me know your favorite salsa brand before you go
Have a good day!

Hey Missy,
I love spicy food… well I’m getting used to it, but a way to sweeten up that spicy salsa is by adding Crazins in the bottle of salsa… mmm then when you take a chip and dip it in the salsa you’ll get a sweet and spicy taste!
