Soup and PB&J Love

Hey everyone! I have a few reviews lined up for today’s post! Let’s start with dinner last night…

I arrived back in New York around dinner time. I was starving so I made a very quick and easy dinner-soup and salad!

blog3 001

I’ve had this soup in my pantry for a while now so decided to try it out. Let’s take a look at the nutrition facts:

Serving Size: 1 cup
Servings Per Container: 2
Serving Weight: 240 ml

Calories: 70
Calories from Fat:10

Total Fat: 1g 2%
Saturated Fat: 0g 0%
Trans Fat: 0g
Cholesterol: 0mg 0%
Sodium: 580mg 24%
Carbohydrates: 13g 4%
Fiber: 3g 11%
Sugars: 5g
Protein: 2g %
Organic: 99%
Vitamin A: 50% • Vitamin C: 20%
Calcium: 4% • Iron: 6%

I like that you can eat a whole can for just 140 calories. The soup also contains some fiber, protein, and iron which is nice. My biggest complaint is the sodium. 580 mg is just half of the can! I ate the whole can last night for 1160 mg! No wonder I woke up so bloated today! I probably would not buy this soup again because I am trying to lower my salt intake. I know that Amy’s makes a few soups that are low sodium so I will definitely make sure to choose one of those next time.

INGREDIENTS : (VEGAN) FILTERED WATER, ORGANIC ONIONS, ORGANIC BARLEY, ORGANIC CARROTS, ORGANIC TOMATOES, ORGANIC CELERY, ORGANIC LEEKS, ORGANIC ZUCCHINI, ORGANIC PEAS, SEA SALT, SPICES, ORGANIC HIGH OLEIC SAFFLOWER AND/OR SUNFLOWER OIL, ORGANIC GARLIC. CONTAINS GLUTEN.

I do approve of the ingredient list. The soup is 99% organic and contains no artificial ingredients.

I really enjoyed the soup itself.

blog3 009

It really did not taste salty even though the sodium content was very high. It was thick and had tons of vegetables and barley. It was also very filling. I made a small salad to go with it.

blog3 010

I had some pita chips and hummus on the side for something to munch on. Very delicious dinner.

This morning I got to work and made a nice big bowl of oats.

blog3 012

I added a banana, cinnamon, and Justin’s Cinnamon Nut Butter. I had some green tea on the side.

I will give you a little lunch preview because I tried new peanut butter last night while making my sandwich!

blog3 006

One side of my bread was crunchy and the other side was creamy. Both peanut butters were from a company called Crazy Richard’s.

blog3 002

About Crazy Richard’s (from the website):

Crazy Richard’s Natural Peanut Butter is made with no salt, sugar, hydrogenated oils or trans fats. Our only ingredient is 100% USA peanuts. After careful roasting we grind select peanuts to create our delicious and natural peanut butter.

I tried the creamy first!

blog3 003

As soon as I stuck my knife in the jar, I realized that this was definitely the creamiest peanut butter I’ve ever tried. It easily spread onto my bread. I really like that it does not need to be refrigerated because this makes it easier to use in the future.

It had a delicious, natural taste to it. Some peanut butters that do not contain salt have a very plain, bland taste. I could not tell at all that this had no salt.  I give it an A+!

I tried the crunchy next.

blog3 005

I opened this jar and did not need to stir it at all! It was very creamy and had tons of little nuts. I used to like creamy peanut butter better but this was so crunchy and delicious! I could not decide which one I liked more!

blog3 007

I brought some pita chips to go along with my sandwich today. I plan to keep a jar of Crazy Richard’s in my desk at work to add in my oatmeal from now on! I refuse to keep peanut butter in the fridge since people eat other people’s food. This is perfect for work since no refrigeration is necessary.

You can order Crazy Richard’s online here!

Speaking of ordering things online, I am off to go do some Cyber Monday shopping!

Do you prefer to shop in stores on Black Friday or online today??

I usually prefer to shop in stores so I can try things on but I avoided Black Friday because of the crowds! I am very tempted to shop now since I keep getting a million sale e-mails! Have a good one!

  • Thanks so much for the reviews! That Peanut butter looks great! Do you have to stir it at all? (I always make a huge mess when I do that) I actually prefer to shop online on black Friday. I really dont like huge crowds and waiting in line for hours just doesn’t sound appealing at all to me! I like to shop while i sit at home in my jammies with a big cup of coffee=) Nice and relaxing! Have a great day!

I had to stir the creamy but just for a minute. I did not have to stir the crunchy at all! Very easy to eat!

  • I haven’t tried that flavor of Amy’s and now I really want to. I love shopping IN the stores. I love the hustle and bustle.

Online fo’ sho. I didn’t want to deal with the crowds at the mall.

Did you notice that you could still taste that soup in your mouth like several hours later? That always happens to me with that particular one!

  • O man, that chunky pb looks awesome. I hate shopping and like to do it online if possible. In years past I’ve done all my Christmas shopping oline. It was awesome.

Hey, did you know that you actually don’t NEED to refridgerate natural pb? I never do, and it always stays fresh and spreadable.

  • the crowds weren’t actually that crazy when i went out on black friday- i was surprised! & i’ve never tried amy’s soups but have heard they are really good so maybe i’ll have to now :)

  • it’s incredible how canned soup has tons of sodium and you can’t even taste it! it’s really dangerous!
I did not do any shopping this time :( No time and not willingness to get stuck in between people! ;)

  • I hate refridgerating peanut butter (or almond butter), too….I get Smart Balance for that reason!! That PB looks SO good.

I’m not much of a shopper (shocker!). Well, I think I would be more of one if I were, say, loaded. I try to be pretty good with my money so it kinda takes the fun out of shopping! But I do like online shopping, especially for other people. :-)

  • Wow only 70 calories per a cup of soup? Not bad.

I usually do my shopping online or when the stores are empty. I actually did some shopping today with my mom and the stores were not that bad =)

I got 30% off boots from Victoria Secret…still spent way too much though haha I’m a sucker for sales!

  • I avoid crowds at all means on Black Friday, and I try and shop during the week on a random day off in December to avoid the big crowds on weekends. I would find it hard to trust that anything that ships from online would make it too me on time for Christmas, I’d rather have it in my hands once purchased.

  • Ok, you’ve convinced me to try Richard’s! I haven’t tried it, ever, but I always see it at the store. I used to hate crunchy peanut butter, but during the past 5 or so years I became addicted tot he CRUNCH!

Way to point out that sodium. The soup is so healthy other than that! It’s a bummer, really. Either way, I’m glad you enjoyed the heck out of it!

  • I don’t know, but I’ve never been into crunchy PB. My bf always buys that kind…boo. I stick with regular or almond butter. I prefer Cyber Monday…more and better deals I found.

  • Mmm, I like that Amy’s soup. And that pb sounds fab! I like shopping in person–it’s more fun! Especially for clothes. I can never tell how something is gonna fit or how it really looks from the online pic :) However, I’m not a fan of crowds!

  • i love the crazy richards, it is the MOST creamy, I agree and I love the chunky has HUGE chunks of peanuts in there :) thast my kinda chunky!!
