On Saturday I went to my 2nd Self Workout in the Park. I went for the first time last year and had a great time. It was pouring in the morning but luckily it got nice and sunny by the time I arrived at the park!

039

I learned my lesson last year that there is no need to get there 2 hours early just to wait in line! We got there right on time and got to go right through the gate. We were not able to make it on the list for Rebounding or Yoga but there were plenty of good classes going on at the main stage the whole time. I met up with a bunch of  lovely bloggers at Starbucks before the event.

038

I met Julie from JulieGoLean, Mo from Food Snob, Kristine from ShapeUpNYC, Mari from Namaste Mariand 2 new bloggers, Angelaand Layla. I also met Melissa from FitnessNYC at Starbucks and Jess from FitChickintheCity a little later!

037

I’m still trying to figure out why Mo had a clown nose in her purse? Hmm…secret job we don’t know about??

We started off with some “Sexy Stretching.”

040

Mari was loving her stretches! There was lots of hip rolls, shimmying, and other sexual moves involved! Julie had it all right when she said some drinks were necessary before this class!

041

Julie, Me, Mari, and Mo preparing for the next class, Masala Bhangra. You may remember seeing Masala Bhangra in Slumdog Millionaire! It is a really fun Indian dance that I tried for the first time last year.

After the class, we got to meet the instructor, Sarina Jain!

042

Mari was in heaven! She’s been doing Sarina’s videos at home forever now and it helped her with her weight loss!

The best part of the day….we got interviewed for Sarina’s documentary!! I don’t even know what I said but I can’t wait to find it on TV or video somewhere!

After the video, we did Cardio Tai Box which was very hard! We also did Retro Robics. Just imagine 80′s music and some YMCA! We decided to take a nice little break after those classes. I wanted to work on my tan!

044

043

We then did Rock Bottom class. This was probably the most challenging class but I loved it! Want to know why? It was just like Core Fusion! We did tons of squats and lunges while holding our heels in the air. I think I scared Mo away from ever coming to Core Fusion with me! We decided to skip the other 3 or 4 classes since we were all tired and hungry. We got to watch Jess do some Rebounding before we left!

The 3 Queens girls left the park and acted like tourists before getting on the subway:

We tossed around some lunch ideas but of course ended up at our usual Forest Hills spot, 5 Burro Cafe! I think we all deserved some chips after such an intense workout!

047

I went with a margarita on the rocks.

048

I got my usual…the Vegetable Mexican Salad!

050

Mo enjoyed a raspberry margarita!

haha

Mari could not wait for her Pina Colada but unfortunately the blender was broken!! She had a Diet Coke instead :(

mari111

I was trying to invent a Pina Colada margarita but it did not work out too well. Instead we hit up The Lite Choice so she could get some Pina Colada soft serve!

pina

I went with Oreos N’ Cream of course :)

051

Very fun day! I left with some great swag!

052

I got some Energy Kitchen coupons, almonds, rubber bands,  chocolate soy milk, resistance bands, a Livestrong bracelet, and more! Yes, Daisy had to get shaved! She is a much happier kitty!

Hope everyone had a nice rest of the weekend!

you got a kitten in your swag bag?? no fair! LOL

Great recap! and those pics look familiar… hmmm LOL

And you probably did scare me from core fusion becuase rock bottom kicked my chunky ass! lol. I will try again sometime. like when my subconscious burries the pain from rock bottom so far in my brain that i forget the pain.
in all seriousness i would be able to handle core fusion if its the first class i do… i was a little tired from masala bhangra and the sun beaming on me. I am a wimp in the sun.

It looks like you ladies had a blast!

I am thinking of getting my cat shaved. She has wicked bad mats and I can’t keep up with them. I think she’d be much happier too.. I just have to bite the bullet and do it!
