Revolution Foods!

Happy December! A few more weeks till the holidays!! I hope everyone got some nice shopping done during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I tried to be good yesterday and only bought one thing online!

boots

I got the brown boots from Victoria’s Secret. I had a nice 30%  off coupon code so they were not too pricey! I’ve wanted brown boots since last winter so I think it was time!

What did you buy?? Get any good deals?

I am going to start off this month with a review! I received a bunch of goodies to try from a company called Revolution Foods.

About Revolution Foods (from the website):

As parents we know it’s not always easy to ensure our kids are eating wholesome foods when they’re away from home. We’ve created easy-to-pack snacks and sandwich builders that offer kids a fun way to get the nutritious foods they need. And we never ever use trans fats, high fructose corn syrup or artificial ingredients, so you can always feel good about what you’re putting in the lunchbox.

I am not a parent but I found that their products are great for adults too! I am always on the lookout for low calorie snacks that contain no artificial ingredients. These were great to eat on-the-go and were fun and delicious at the same time!

I tried the Organic Grammy Sammy’s first.

About:

Our Grammy Sammy is a soft baked graham sandwich filled with yogurt goodness. Each yummy bar is made with nourishing ingredients that help kids have more sustained energy throughout the day. And each one is individually wrapped and ready to go. When it comes to snack time, it’s a graham slam!

They come in 3 flavors:

  1. Honey Graham & Strawberry Yogurt
  2. Cinnamon Graham & Vanilla Yogurt
  3. Cocoa Graham & Banana Yogurt

blog3 015

I tried the Cinnamon Graham and Vanilla one morning before the gym. It was the perfect snack to have before a workout! It gave me the energy I needed and kept me full for the hour that I worked out.

blog3 016

It tasted just like a graham cracker. I could not really taste the vanilla yogurt on the inside but I loved the delicious cinnamon flavor of the sammy. The consistency was soft and broke apart easily. It would be great as a topping for oatmeal and yogurt.

Next I tried the Cocoa Graham and Banana Yogurt Grammy Sammy.

blog3 014

I loved the flavor of this one! It was similar to eating a chocolate covered banana!  Check out the awesome nutritional stats of the Grammy Sammy!

grammy_sammy_nutritional_info

They are a great little snack for just 110-120 calories! They are made with 100% whole grains and contain no high fructose corn syrup. Yay!

They also sent me a sample of a Jammy Sammy to try! (I love the names of all the snacks!)

About:

Our Jammy Sammy is a snack size twist on a lunchbox favorite. Each yummy bar is made with nourishing ingredients that help kids have more sustained energy throughout the day. And each one is individually wrapped and ready to go and perfect for when you’ve gotta jam.

They come in 4 flavors:

  1. PB & Strawberry
  2. PB & Grape
  3. Apple Cinnamon & Oatmeal
  4. Blueberries & Oatmeal

I got to try the newest flavor, Blueberries & Oatmeal.

blog3 025

I decided to crush this one up in an Oikos yogurt for a little afternoon snack.

blog3 026

This was a perfect topping for yogurt. It was soft and crushed up perfectly. It had a delicious blueberry center and definitely made a perfect, fun snack! It contains only 110 calories and is filled with organic fruit spread. Kids would definitely love something like this in their lunch box. Much better than the Tastykakes I used to bring to school!

The final product I tried was called Mashups!

About:

A mish mash of pure fruit fun!

We’ve taken real organic fruit and made purees that can be eaten right out of the pack. Mashups have all the goodness of fruit without any of the prep. They’re great for tossing in the lunchbox and just as enjoyable at home. We like to think of them as an easy squeezy way to eat fruit!

blog3 028

I squeezed some of the Tropical into my mouth and then into my yogurt! Yum! It had a fruity flavor and stirred right into my yogurt. I must try this stuff in oatmeal!

blog3 030

I did the same thing with the Grape!

blog3 027

blog3 029

Such a fun snack! Look at all of the great things about the Mashups:

  • 100% Organic Fruit Puree
  • No Sugar Added
  • Squeezable fruit that’s ideal for the lunchbox and on-the-go snacking
  • Kid-safe, resealable cap
  • No Transfats, No High Fructose Corn Syrup, No Artificial Ingredients

Each pouch is only 40-60 calories. The best part is the ingredient list:

TROPICAL: Organic Fruit Puree (apple, banana, pear, mango).

GRAPE: Organic Apple Puree, Organic Concord Grape Concentrate, Organic Pear Puree

Very impressive. Revolution Snacks makes other fun products too such as PopAlongs, peanut butter, and fruit snacks! I definitely plan on trying them in the future.

They also have an In-School Lunch Program.  They deliver tasty and healthy meals and nutrition education to schools and programs across the country. I love that they support healthy eating for children. Revolution Snacks can be found at Whole Foods, Toys R Us, Wegman’s, and online stores such as Drugstore.com and Amazon.com!

What did you eat for lunch in elementary school? Did you buy lunch or pack it?

My mom always packed me lunch the night before. It usually consisted of a turkey sandwich, chips, a Fruit Roll Up, and TasyKakes. I remember bringing Dunkaroos a lot too!  I brought Capri Sun or Juicy Juice to drink. Not the healthiest of lunches!

Speaking of lunch, it is that time!! Have a good day!

  • Love the boots!!

Grammy sammys look good! Are they in stores?

You don’t just eat, you dunkaroo! I loved those. I used to always bring a balonga sandwich with cool ranch doritos and dunkaros or a kudos bar. I was a fan of magic middles too. I’d switch it up sometimes and bring chef boyardee ravioli or beefaroni in a thermos :)

  • Hot boots! Way to go with the 30% off coupon code too.

The Grammy sammys sound good. I’d like to try one in a vanilla Chobani.

My school lunches were usually a tuna sandwich (which I hated) and baggie of baby carrots, a Quaker granola bar, and a Ssips Iced Tea box (remember those?). I was glad when I got to high school and didn’t bring a lunch anymore.

I think I bought my lunch a lot. I remember though, when I did bring it, my mom would never let me have Capri Sun because it’s wasn’t 100% juice and I wanted it so badly.

  • Oh, Dunkaroos. Those were the good days. Actually the best lunch days were when I got the nacho or make-your-own pizza lunchables in my lunch. Healthy indeed ;)

  • Cute boots!

I had picked out SO many items from Piperlime, but ended up just buying a dress from Banana Republic. I can wear it with tights in the winter and sandals in the summer.

I’ve never heard of Grammy and Jammy Sammys. They look cute for kids to snack on!

  • My mom was always making me pack healthy foods, which I am thankful for now :) These look really delicious and I should suggest them for my 13 year old brother! He may in fact like them…. I used to have some type of healthy whole grain sandwich, with a fruit and vegetable, and one dessert (usually a fruit roll up or ho hos!!) Oh, I also liked Zebra cakes. I can’t believe my mom let me eat those!

I bought these from Whole Foods to try a few months ago. Kids ate them up! I use them as snacks in the car, we have a long drive to get any where so we need to have easy to eat snacks. Peanut free facility too! Good price compared to local market, even better with current promotion.
