Restaurant Week Dinner

Good Morning!

I had a great workout and dinner last night! I went to the gym after work and did 30 minutes on the elliptical since I had an hour to spare before my dinner reservation. I decided to do The Fitnessista 30 Minute Elliptical Workout.

This workout was very challenging but I loved it!! I burned 240 calories and had a maximum heart rate of 189. I was much more sweaty than normal for the elliptical. I definitely recommend trying this out to anyone who would like some variety in their workout.

I quickly got ready for my dinner reservation at 7:30. I went to Japonais for Restaurant Week. The restaurant was beautiful inside! It was such a nice environment with gerat decor, dim lights, and great music.

Restaurant Week includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert for a set price. First, I started off with a wonderful drink!

I got a Geisha: Stolichnaya Vodka, lychee liquor, yuzu juice, lychee juice, and a splash of cranberry.

It was so delicious!! These can be dangerous for me because they taste so good!

For an appetizer I got Spicy Mono: Spicy octopus roll topped with spicy tuna tartare and sweet eel sauce.

This was one of the best rolls I’ve ever had! The tuna in the middle was delicious and the sauce on top gave it a great flavor.

I ordered a second Lychee Martini after the rolls.

For dinner I ordered the Salmon Japonais: Nori skin encrusted Atlantic salmon with horseradish oyster & leek stew and curry oil.

At first I was not sure about ordering this because of the curry oil. I hate anything that tastes like curry but this did not taste like it at all! The sauce was amazing! There were also little potatoes and shrimp on the side of the salmon that made it extra delicious. The salmon was the perfect size. Most restaurants bring out a huge piece which I always end up eating since it is in front of me but this was just perfect!

Next came the best part yet, DESSERT!!!

I got Kabocha Cheesecake: Japanese pumpkin cheesecake served with five-spiced pineapple mousse and an almond cookie crust.

Just as amazing as it sounds!! First I scooped from the top and it was a fluffy light mousse with a hint of pumpkin flavor in it. Then I got to the bottom to the almond cookie crust. This was the best part! Perfect combination of cookie and mousse together!

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures but I could not get the lighting right. This is me taking a big scoop from the dessert! I ate half of it to try to prevent myself from feeling nauseous. Very hard to resist!

My friend got the Homemade Sorbets for dessert: Chef’s selection of sorbets served with fresh watermelon soup and with yuzu cookie.

I did not taste this but I had to post it because of how pretty it was! I heard it was good though!

This was an amazing dinner and great place to eat. I will definitely be coming back here because people rave about the steak! I also saw that they have lobster teryaki which I must try!! Anyone in New York should check Japonais out!

Today I woke up so tired. My legs feel all sore from the gym too so I will try to take it slow today. I had one awful subway ride to work! It took an hour and 20 minutes!

I was on my first train and it was stopped for 5 minutes in a tunnel. They announced that there was a train in front of us that was stuck. We sat there for another 10 minutes underground before we could move. When I finally got on my 2nd train, it took another 10 minutes to get going since all the trains were jammed! I got trampled over to get on the train and was completely stuck between a pole and another person. I felt so claustrophobic! I got to work around 9:20. My boss called me a minute after I walked in to tell me she would be out sick so I just made it without her knowing I was late! Love when that happens!

I made some Smart Balance oatmeal as soon as I got here. I added half a banana and cinnamon.

With some skim milk and a mug of Awake Tea.

Yummy! This weekend I will buy fun toppings to make my oats more exciting. I promise!

I plan on going to the gym at lunch today to get in some light cardio. On Thursdays I take a Total Body Conditioning Class so this will save me time late at night. I am off to go do some “work” (read blogs). Bye!
