Poopy Spin…and a Navitas Naturals Review!

Last night after work I went to the gym. Usually I take Cardio Kickboxing but I decided to change it up and take spin. I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes before the class started. I walked in the class and smelled something funny but did not think anything of it.

About 5 minutes into the class, I decided it smelled like a mix of poop and dirty feet. I tried to breathe out of my mouth and ignore it. It was all I could think about. I could not pedal hard because I could not breathe right. After 10 minutes, I thought about leaving but I felt too bad. The class was full so I did not want to make a scene.

After 15 minutes of the class, I really felt like I was going to gag. I looked at the girl’s shoes next to me to see if she had poop on the bottom of them. Nothing. Finally the teacher got up off her bike to correct some girl. It was the perfect opportunity for me to hop off my bike and run out.

I usually would never leave a spin class early but I decided it would be less embarrassing than puking in front of the whole class. I really don’t know how everyone else dealt with the smell!

I don’t know if I was just aggravated because of the odor but the teacher was really annoying to me to. She had this high pitched screechy voice. In my head I wanted her to shut up. She was making stupid jokes that no one was laughing at. Once I heard her play, “Get Jiggy With It,” I knew it was time to leave.

I decided to do an extra half hour on the elliptical to make up for missing half of spin. I watched the kickboxing class having fun and regretted not going. Lesson learned…never choose spin over kickboxing on a Monday!

I got home around 8:45 since I stopped at the food store. My landlord was supposed to come over at 9 to see if our apartment was clean. I decided to wait to make dinner until after she left so that I would not have any food out. I got home and the evil light was blinking on the mouse trap…

Mouse #10 in the last week? I was kind of happy because I could prove to her that we were catching so many mice. She came in and saw how clean our apartment was and promised to get us an exterminator. She did not leave till 9:30 and I was starving so I had to make something quick for dinner.

The wonderful turkey, ham and cheese wraps always save the day!

I ate it with Honey Dijon Cape Cod chips and Cedar’s hummus on the side.

I was good and ate no dessert after. At 2:30 am, I may have had 4 scoops of Ben & Jerry’s Cheesecake Brownie but I am going to pretend I dreamt that! The boy fed it to me so it was not my fault haha. He said mouse #11 paid us a visit at that time too. Awesome.

I got to work and made some oats today. I know, I chose the day that it is 90 degrees outside to go back to a hot breakfast.

You might be wondering what is on top of my oatmeal?

It is Goji, Cocoa, and Acai Power from Navitas Naturals! A few weeks ago, I received a nice little package with these 3 superfoods and a cute water bottle!

About Navitas Naturals:

The “Navitas” in our name is the Latin word for energy.

And like our name implies, our mission is to provide premium organic functional foods that increase energy and enhance health. Part of this effort is to continually search for the world’s most beneficial natural foods. Navitas Naturals is a certified organic, green business headquartered in Marin County, California.

We specialize in organic and wild-crafted functional foods, and strive to lead the industry in this expanding market. Health conscious consumers choose our nutrient-rich products because they are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Our premium quality “superfoods” are always free of additives and trans fats; the absence of these elements speaking to the purity and effectiveness of the products.

The first product I tried was the Cacoa Power:

The bean of the cocao plant is the nutritional and flavorful source for all chocolate and cocoa products. Cocao contains a naturally rich supply of antioxidants.

Our cacao line includes whole beans, nibs, sweetened nibs, butter, paste, and powder. Raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic.

It was delicious. It gave my oatmeal and nice chocolaty crunch!

The next product I tried was the Goji Power.

The goji berry is one of the most nutrient-rich foods on earth, packed with protein, essential amino acids, vitamins A and C and trace minerals. Goji powder or berries add a semi-sweet flavor to any dish and are great floated in teas, tossed in salads and soups, baked into cookies, muffins and breads, or stirred into cereal, granola, or porridge.

Our goji line includes whole dried berries as well as berry powder (milled freeze-dried whole berries). These products have only one ingredient: goji berries. Raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic.

They added a delicious fruit flavor to my oatmeal!

The final product I tried was the Acai Power.

Acai is loaded with antioxidants and monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. The berries also contain an optimal combination of essential amino acids. It is a good source of Vitamin C. Acai powder has a sweet berry taste that can be added to smoothies, frozen drinks and desserts or used in baking.

Whole berries, freeze dried, and low temperature milled into a fine powder. This product has only one ingredient: acai berries. Raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic.

All 3 products gave my oatmeal a wonderful new flavor and made it even healthier!

I now keep these products in my desk drawer so I can add them to everything possible! Navitas Naturals also makes tons of other superfoods like chia, cashew, flax, camu, goldenberry, yacon, and more! The products can be found in most health food stores.

I will leave you with a giveaway!

I am so behind on your posts – you have had quite the weekend! I need to do the Queens Zoo and museums with my boy too – he lives right there so no excuse. Plus we like zoos. :)

So cool that YouBar makes trail mix now! Definitely the perfect product for them to pick up on.

Oh and I just ordered a Core Fusion DVD and I’m so jazzed to try it because I always read about you and Dori and Melissa liking it so much!

Ugh, I would totally have left, too – that is disgusting! Bad smells + working up a sweat = HORRIBLE. And I laughed out loud at your “gettin’ jiggy wit it” comment – not a Will Smith fan?

Navitas Naturals is such a great resource for super yummy foods. I always make a big smoothie after my workouts, and the acai powder (with a banana and hemp protein) is an everyday staple in my house!! Thx for the fun review. :)

I bought a big bag of goji berries a while back and I’ve been adding them to various cereals and oats now and then, Acai would be fun to try though.

eewww – good job on leaving, I totally would have done the same thing! I am so not afraid to leave a class. I want to maximize every minute of every workout so I’m not about to sit in a stinky classroom or stick around if I am not feeling the moves.

I’ve never tried goji or acia berrys, will have to search these out!

  • The berry increases our energy and durability because of the beneficial ingredients it contains. Acai berry improves stamina and increases energy along with improving the absorption of Iron, Manganese, potassium & chromium due to the abundant availability of Vitamin B in it.
