Hey everyone. I thought I’d share some of my Passover meals with you from the past couple of days!
Passover started at sundown on Monday so I made sure to load up on some carbs during the day! I had a big bowl of oatmeal with baked apples and cottage cheese for breakfast.

I went to Amy’s Bread for lunch and got a delicious hummus salad. I had a freshly baked organic whole wheat roll on the side.

Hi Daisy! She found a new home

On Monday, I did not go to Passover Seder because I did not want to take 2 full days off of work. I decided to go on Tuesday instead. I made my own dinner at home after some Core Fusion Cardio.
I started off with Miso Soup.

I liked that this only had 25 calories but it also had no taste! I tried to be good and buy low sodium but I ended up having to add my own salt. Oh well.

I also made a big plate of veggies! I enjoyed my “Passover dinner.”

Yesterday I took the day off so I went to Core Fusion, the dentist, and dermatologist in the morning and to Passover Seder at night. I had a slice of matzoh before my wonderful Core Fusion Cardio class! My doctor appointments did not go so well…had to get a biopsy for a mole that looked funny and have 2 cavities! I’ve never had a cavity before! Wahhh
I stopped for a yummy salad during my adventures in the pouring rain and wind.

Around 3:00, I headed into Long Island for dinner. It was at my brother in law’s house. I did not take pictures but we had a ton of delicious food! Everything from matzoh ball soup to brisket to chicken to sweet potatoes, etc. There were probably about 15 different desserts! Yumm. It was a lot of fun.
This morning I made a mushroom and Laughing Cow omelet with some whole wheat matzoh for breakfast!

Lunch was a quinoa salad with roasted broccoli, chickpeas, lemon & feta cheese. This was delicious! I was excited when my sister told me quinoa was kosher for Passover. It looks like a grain but technically is not!

That’s it! I remember Passover used to be so hard for me to keep but now I am enjoying it. It also keeps me from eating cereal at 11:00 at night for no reason! This is good timing since I will be on the beach in a few weeks!
1) Do you celebrate Passover? Do you keep it?
2) If you celebrate Lent, what did you give up? Did you keep it?

This is the first time you’ve had a cavitity?! My mouth was full of them when I was younger. I don’t celebrate Passover or Lent, but I did challenge myself to having no meat for the month of March!

Yes, first one. Very nervous about fillings haha.

I celebrate Lent, and I gave up all meat – poultry, red meat, fish – and I have kept it! There were so many times I wanted to give in but didn’t, thank goodness!

I gave up gum and soda for Lent.It is sooo hard because they are both strees relievers.I didn’t break down, though.I’m so happy it will be over Sunday.hehe…cc

I don’t actually have a religion but I always celebrate Lent. I gave up baked goods, but have been overcompensating by eating a lot of chocolate and froyo…blech…
happy passover!

I am so jealous of the chickpeas in your (first) salad!! Omg I had my first two cavities about two years ago and I was so upset! I was so proud of the fact that I was cavity-less. It’s okay, it happens to the best of us

I celebrate Lent and this year I gave up soda. I am happy to say I barely missed it. I don’t know that I’ll start drinking it again after Sunday either.

I’m pretty much a non-practicing Jew, so no, I don’t keep Passover. But if someone invites me to a seder, I’ll go!

I think you need to do a whole “Where’s Daisy” Post and just post random pictures of her in the strangest places!
I gave up Meat and Protein Cookie dough for lent and I am happy to say that I kept it! wooohoooo

I don’t celebrate Passover, but I find it interesting. I like learning about different religions/cultures and their customs. I’m a nerd like that.
I do celebrate Lent…I mean, in theory I guess. I don’t give anything upand don’t go to church, but I’m “Catholic”. I’m not very religious! lol
[Reply]
I’m not religious, at all, but if I were to relate to any religion it would probably be the Jewish religion! I had several Jewish friends growing up, and in college, so I did go to my friend’s houses for Passover and Seder and many other meals. I loved all the food!! The kegel, the matzo ball soup, ohhhh it was all so good!
Sorry about your cavities. IT’s strange that you have two, and you’ve never had any before. Did your dentist give you any ideas why?? I have never had any cavities either and I don’t plan on EVER getting one. But, maybe I’m wrong??

you kitty got so big!
Happy passover Missy!
Hope you have a nice weekend!

I’d say that’s REALLY good that you only just now have a cavity!
I celebrate Lent and I gave up chocolate. NEVER. AGAIN. haha I just missed it so much. I did cheat one day.
What can I say? I LOVE chocolate more than anything!

Daisy looks like she misses her carbs in that picture of her by your salad…she’s so sad (and cute)!
Sorry about that cavity. I’ve never had one either!
[Reply]
Wow never had a cavity? I know you like to enjoy your drinks, alcohol=sugar, that’s probably the culprit!! If you don’t use mouthwash or use another kind, I recommend ACT !

I always buy low-sodium stuff and end up adding salt. Lol.
I am not doing anything for Passover this year, but my family are pretty strict. My mom was so excited about quinoa when I told her it was okay to eat- she stocked up last week! I heard that wild rice is okay too since it is technically a grass. I always missed cereal more than anything else, but I think quinoa is good for hot/cold breakfasts. And matzoh brei, of course
[Reply]
YES! quinoa is passover friendly!! I love that and also sweet potatoes, I am having some of those for dinner tonight!
I used to keep it to a T…it was easy when I lived at home my mom alwaysmade these awesome passover rolls etc, these days I do try to keep it but if I have a little something here adn there, thats ok
I do try my best though!!! LOTS of eggs

Yes, we celebrate Passover. Being pregnant and also with my 15 month old son, we celebrate in the Sephardic tradition and continue to eat beans, rice and corn- makes it a little easier. Otherwise, we’d really miss the fiber! Matzo only has 1 gram per serving! Good to note quinoa is also good. But we like to focus on all the yummy things we CAN eat during this time that we don’t normally eat the rest of the year- potatoes au gratin, yummy matzo ball chicken soup, etc.

I’ve been keeping passover, but I just learned (and confirmed by comments) that tofu is not allowed…I was planning on eating tofu tonight and I already ate chickpeas. I think giving up the grains is enough for me
I also made a big batch of quinoa Monday night and I’ve been eating it through the week.

Happy Passover! I celebrate and have kept passover every year until this year when we accidentally planned our vacay over passover. I love the holiday- so many good traditions. I look forward to observing the real way each year!
