Bridal Party, Birthday Party, Blog Meetup!

Hey everyone! Hope you had a nice weekend! Mine was busy but very fun! Let’s recap back to Saturday…

I had my friend’s bridal shower during the day. It was at a really pretty country club in Long Island. Check out the view!

I did not feel like I was in New York! They were serving these amazing drinks when I got there. They were similar to sangria. I probably had about 4 by the time it was done :)

We started off with a salad. It was topped with a refreshing summer citrus dressing.

blog 8 003

We had the choice of Baked Salmon, Penne a la Vodka, or Chicken Florentine. I went with the salmon.

blog 8 004

The salmon was delicious! It was very moist and had a delicious sauce over it. I skipped the potatoes because I wanted to save room for the cake!

The bridal party:

Very glad I saved room for cake. YUM!

I found a ride back to the city and got ready for my next event: my brother in law’s birthday! We started the pregame off at Pop Burger. I walk by the restaurant all the time but never knew they had such a nice bar upstairs!

They served us unlimited sliders and fries!

I was still pretty full from the shower so I split one of the sliders with my friend Kaity. Delicious! I drank a Flirtini and several vodka sodas!

After Pop Burger we headed over to the Empire Hotel Rooftop! There was a beautiful view of the city! My sister and I (and her husband-birthday boy behind us):

Very fun night! Kaity and I headed back to my place once we reached our drink limit! She ordered 2 large pizzas from Domino’s when we got home but luckily I passed out before they got there!!

Sunday Blogger Brunch!

I woke up on Sunday with a nice headache, chugged some water, and headed to Wild Ginger in Soho to meet some blog girls! Marina from A Veggie Girl (and her cat) planned the event. We’ve met a few times before so it was great seeing her again. I also got to meet Caronae from Run Write Therapy Life and Gabriela from Une Vie Saine.

wg too

I ate at Wild Ginger once before for dinner and loved it! Yesterday I got to take advantage of the lunch special menu. Everything came with a spring roll and miso soup.

blog 8 021

The miso soup was delicious! For my main course I got the tofu and mixed vegetables.

blog 8 023

I loved the sauce on the tofu! It also came with a piece of kabocha which was great too! According to Marina, the spring rolls used to be twice the size! I still highly enjoyed mine. Nothing better than fried food after a night of drinking! We had a great time and talked for over an hour!

I went home and relaxed for the rest of the day. I skipped pizza Saturday night but ended up having it on Sunday night for dinner! So good…

blog 8 024

I drank some Vitamin Water which Daisy loves as well!

blog 8 025

Can’t have pizza without ice cream! I got a little single serve container of Ben & Jerry’s fro-yo. Perfect for portion control!

blog 8 026

I didn’t work out all weekend but went to the gym this morning after a not so healthy weekend! I am also going to Core Fusion after work so it’s all good. I will definitely be eating very well for the next 3 days since I leave for Puerto Rico on Thursday. Beach and hot weather….here I come! Speaking of drinking and indulging, be sure to check out my new post on HollaBack Health!

  • Sounds like such a fun weekend! I let a few extra snacks slide on the weekends but I’m also not sitting on my duff at my desk, so it evens out and makes life more fun!

I think the weekends are for indulging as long as you don’t go completely crazy with it. And it sounds like you made some pretty reasonable decisions.
Bridal showers are so much fun! Congratulations to your friend. My twin sister is getting married in two weeks and I can hardly wait!

  • Looks like you had a great weekend Missy!! I love bridal parties/weddings/ any type of event where there is free food and alcohol :) haha. I do tend to indulge more on the weekends, for sure. I think just about everyone does, even if they don’t realize it. It’s so much easier to indulge when you aren’t following a rigid work schedule, and when your nights are more free than during the week. Most of my clients claim that they can’t lose weight because of weekend indulgences. It’s VERY hard to control!! But, it’s doable, if that’s what you want, of course.

  • I’m becoming a part of Hollaback Health too, yay! Or should I say…HOLLA. haha.

I definitely tend to indulge more on the weekends. Lately I’m trying to break that habit because I did a bit *too much* indulging during my vacations last month. But in general, on the weekends there’s always room for a slice of pizza….or three :P
