Good Morning! I have to start out by saying that I love how excited all of you are over coconut peanut butter! I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less in blog world. I am choosing a winner tomorrow so head on over to the giveaway if you haven’t entered yet!
There are a few things I am going to get off of my chest today. Yesterday I was very inspired by Rachel’s post about what we seriously and officially own. There are a lot of things people are nervous to talk about because they either seek permission or approval from others. I have to admit that I could talk about so much more on here but don’t because of the fear of what other people will think. Well it is time. It is time to share some of the things in my life that I am proud of and officially own!
I drink almost every night of the week. Sometimes I go out and have 4 martinis. Last night I was watching TV by myself and had 3 glasses of wine. I don’t care about the calories. All I care about is that it makes me feel good, helps me break out of my shyness, and helps me relax after a stressful day.
I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
I need dessert every day after lunch and dinner. Sometimes it is as unhealthy as can be.
Other days it is a nice and healthy treat.
It is always something sweet. It is always necessary. I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
I’m a certified health coach but I still struggle with my own eating issues. One bowl of this turns into 4 bowls…
There are still nights when I am alone and want to eat everything in sight but I’m not perfect. It has been improved since starting my blog but still happens almost every week. I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
I date someone that my family wishes I was not with.
I am happy and I think that’s all that matters. I will leave it at that. I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
I hate to cook. I might be a food blogger but I make dinners that take less than 5 minutes.
I enjoy my 5 minute dinners! I don’t have patience to cook for an hour. If I am hungry, I want to eat right away. I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
I exercise to look good. I don’t do it because it gives me energy. I just don’t want to gain weight. I want my body to look toned. I want to be able to have 3 magaritas without feeling like I’ll blow up. Okay, there are a few exceptions to this. Intensati is one workout that I actually have fun doing. Core Fusion does make me feel very good. I’m talking about things like running or the elliptical. I would much rather be relaxing with some beer. I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.
And that is all my friends. I make my own choices and own each and every one of them. Some people may not agree with me but this is my life. Now it’s your turn. I encourage you to participate in this great conversation that Rachel started and share what you own. I promise it will make you feel better.

Missy, I LOVED this. LOVED IT. I love that you owned drinking and eating dessert. I love that I’m not the only one who can’t eat just a single bowl of cereal in one sitting. And I love that now we get to know more about you that we didn’t know.

love this! all of the honesty is refreshing & is something i think we all can relate to in one way or another! i know this one struck a cord with me: “There are still nights when I am alone and want to eat everything in sight but I’m not perfect. You hit this post out of the ballpark!!!!
I also need dessert at least once a day, prefer dinners that involve 5 minutes or less prep time, like my drinks and I get stressed every time I have to go to a party with a lot of food because I worry I will eat everything in sight.

Great post Missy!
One bowl of cereal turning into 4 definitely hits home for me because I struggle with that issue as well. Tasty foods like cereal and trail mix always have me coming back for more. Being a food blogger doesn’t make us perfect and we shouldn’t have to be sorry for that.

This is terrific! I can relate to so much here. I have a drink probably 5 nights a week. Sometimes it’s 1 beer with dinner, sometimes it’s way more. I don’t care. I love the way it tastes.
I too way overeat lots of nights. It comes and goes, but it’s there and it happens.

Loved this post! What you talked about is why I read your blog. You own your choices. I hope one day your family will accept your bf. He obviously makes your very happy. And who doesn’t love a blogger who actually admits to drinking more than one drink! You rock!

I love that you own drinking and hating to cook; these are probably the things that make me feel least a part of the “health blogger community.” Reading this post is freaking awesome and validating.

Missy, this was a really cool post! I’m a big believer that keeping it real is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. Having a drink or dessert when you want to means there is nothing to “rebel” against in making the norm healthier. Have been following you on Twitter and now that I’ve discovered your blog, look forward to following it too!
[Reply]
Awesome post Missy! There’s nothing wrong with any of the things you listed. They’re what make you…you! I don’t exercise because it makes me feel good either and I hate cooking. I’d rather eat. I love your blog because you are very REAL. Keep up the great work!

I’m DEFINITELY not a healthy food blogger (but I LOVE reading healthy food blogs — go figure!). I appreciate your honesty. That’s part of the reason why I read your blog — you keep it real! Keep up the ‘realness’.

I know that myself and others can relate to everything you wrote about. Thank you for being honest and real, as opposed to so many bloggers out there who just pretend they are the perfection of health etc. Everyone wants to have 3 glasses of wine with dinner (I do!!!) and there is nothing wrong with it. Many have issues with over eating, under eating or guilt, but won’t admit it. I commend you for not being the typical “blogger” because it makes you more real. We have so many things in common and I can’t wait to have 3 margs with you someday soon and then rrun those margaritas off so we can enjoy 3 more

I agree with Rachel above—the best part about this was getting to know more about you than I knew from reading your blog. (I read quite often, I’ve just not commented very frequently!) I love that you own up to not being perfect. Too many times it seems that I can’t possibly live up the standards of the typical “healthy living blogger” because they seem so unattainable.
I’m glad you’re not sorry
[Reply]
Missy,
WOW! Thank you for sharing yourself with us! This is a phenomenal post and I am so happy you decided to share. We all have to own our own stuff and it’s inspiring to see you do so loud and proud!
Since you encouraged others to join in, here are three major things I own and I am sorry but I am NOT sorry:
1) I am a life coach who can see the goodness in others but rarely in myself. I struggle with my esteem, worry too much about what others might think about me and sometimes compromise myself to fit in. I am working on it with my own coach and I am proud of the small steps I have taken. I am sorry but I am not sorry!
2) I am still struggling with looking in the mirror and being able to love what’s reflected back. Body image continues to be a sore point with me.
3) I have so much to say but I am afraid to blog often for fear that people won’t read it (and then of course I will feel like a loser) or that it won’t be “good enough”.
We are all works in progress my friend! You are doing a fantastic job!!
xoxo

Good for you! It’s refreshing reading posts like this from “healthy” bloggers. Every one has their vices and things that may not be the healthiest thing, but those are the little things that keep us sane and balanced – and that is a BIG part of staying healthy overall.

Such an awesome post!! I totally agree with so many of your owns — the having drinks most nights, the hating to work out…but I own that too! You rock!

girrrrrl ownin it probably never felt so good! i’m glad you got this out there! i think it’s just important to remember that friggn everyone has stuff that they need to own and we’re really our own worst enemies! nobody would ever judge you for any of these things so i think it’s so great that you just put it all out there

So happy you posted this! Blogger honesty is so refreshing to hear. I agree with pretty much everything you say here; I love the phrase “I’m sorry that I’m not sorry”, lol.
I am definitely not sorry that I enjoy one-two desserts everyday. I am not sorry that I am not perfect. Sometimes I overeat or eat because I am emotional and I am not sorry about that because food nourishes our souls too.
I am not sorry that I eat smoothies for dinner half the time. I am not sorry that I don’t like low-fat or sugar-free stuff. It always tastes like plastic to me.
Happy Thursday!!!!!

Cereal that turns into 5 bowls. Yup, been there.
Exercising to look good–yup, thats why I do it. It takes too much time out of the day for me to do it for purely energy or enjoyment. I just do it to look hot.
Here’s mine.

Fabulous post Missy! Dessert and boozing are the shit and life is too short to not enjoy them in mass quantities! I agree with you too about the working out thing. I love zumba, but that’s about it. I can like running and spin, but I think the only reason I even like them is because I can burn so many calories in a short amount of time!
