Ow!

Good Morning. My title describes how I feel right now. It was quite a struggle walking up the subway stairs this morning! Let’s recap back to last night! I decided to try a new class at Equinox called Urban Rebounding.

urban-rebounding2

We did every move you could possibly do on little trampolines. The class was PACKED. (The picture above was not my class). The teacher was awesome. He was like a drill sergeant and even had a whistle! When I started jumping in the beginning, I felt a little dizzy from being so tired. Luckily the feeling went away after the warm up. The instructor kept calling out moves and I had no clue what they meant so I just tried my best to follow. I was getting a little frustrated in the beginning and kind of just wanted to get on an elliptical instead. Once the class was half way over, I got the moves down and really started to enjoy it.  I burned 280 calories but I also left the class 10 minutes early. I think next time I will love it since I am now familiar with all of the moves.

Why did I leave class early?

I had a 7:30 conference call with Fred Devito, the founder of Core Fusion! Dori prepared a question and answer question for anyone participating in her 30-day challenge. We had about 8 or 9 girls on the line! Catherine Hesse, Dori’s health counselor for the challenge was also on the line to answer nutrition questions. All kinds of questions were asked such as what the correct form is for the C-curve, how much cardio is necessary during the challenge, and if it is okay to do Core Fusion several days in a row. I think Dori will be posting all of the questions and answers soon so I will let you know when they are up! It was a great hour long call!

Speaking of Core Fusion, this morning I woke up at 5:30 to take a class with Dori before work! I know my focus this month is now on inTensati but I would still like to do at least 2 or 3 Core Fusion classes a week. All of my inTensati/rebounding/hip hop made me very sore for the class today! I was struggling much more than usual. I had to keep standing during legs since they hurt so bad! The teacher was really great and helpful and I am happy I attempted the class at least! I have a Core Fusion Yoga class planned for this week as well so that should make me feel a little better.

All of this exercise makes me starving! I ate a lot more yesterday than what you are about to see below but I will try to remember everything!

I made a nice bowl of oats when I got to work.

002

1 packet Nature’s Path instant oats with a scoop of Crazy Richard’s chunky pb, skim milk, banana, and cinnamon. I got hungry 2 hours later so I had an apple with some peanut butter.

I went to Hale and Hearty for lunch!

003

My salad contained cucumbers, carrots, goat cheese, and broccoli. I wanted avocado too but they were out. I also stopped and got some fruit salad since I wasn’t very satisfied.

I had another scoop or 2 of peanut butter later in the afternoon since I had no snacks in my desk!  It was good at keeping me full since I did not get home till 9:00 from the gym. (I only worked out for 45 minutes but stayed at the gym for the conference call).

It was too late to go to the food store so I had soup again for dinner! I promise I’ll change it up the rest of the week!

004

I believe this one contained around 950 mg of sodium for just one serving so I added water and only ate half of the broth. Can we say bloating?

005

I love my hummus and Dr. Krackers!

006

Dessert was another Lite Choice Cookies N’ Cream bar!

007

Check out those Oreo’s in the background. My roommate leaves them on the table so I get to walk by them 10 times a day. I suprisingly have not dug into them even though they are my favorite! I guess my Lite Choice bars satisfy me enough :)

1) What is your favorite thing to snack on during the day?

2) Do you like eating several meals throughout the day or just 3 big ones?

Have a great day!

All those exercise classes sound really fun! My favorite snacks are apple with pb or ab, small baggie of homemade trail mix, or some kind of bar with a good amount of protein to keep me full. I also like yogurt with fruit! I like to have three good meals with a few small snacks!

I can imagine that class was pretty hard – but fun!

  7. I love snacking on yogurt and fruit/nutbutter. They are very ‘snacky’ foods for me, not meals! I usually eat about 5-6 meals a day. :)

  8. I like 3 meals plus 1-2 snacks per day. String cheese, berries and hummus with pita are my favorite during the day snacks. I like to stay away from things that crunch because I sit in cubeville and I feel like my crunching is crazy loud.

  9. I love eating throughout the day, especially when I’m at work. I think its because I’m bored and it gives me something to do ;-)

That class looks great. Id be so scared to fly off the trampoline though. Im so not graceful=) But it looks fun!! I try to eat a bunch of small meals throughout the day. My stomach isnt used to handling large amounts of food at one time. Plus I just like the snack=) My favorite go to snack during the day is almond butter on some fiber crackers. It definitely tides me over until I get home from work. Have a great day!

The Rebounding class sounds awesome!! My biggest obstacle would be not falling off.

My favorite snack during the day is almonds, just because they are so portable and easy, and sometimes I just need 6 or 7 to curb my hunger! (Other times, not so much).

I eat 3 meals a day and sometimes an afternoon snack. And ALWAYS an evening snack! (aka dessert).

  14. I definitely go back and forth on favorite snacks. Right now I’m loving banana with peanut butter. YUM! I typically eat five times a day. Morning, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. It’s been working out really well for me!

  15. You sound like you’re really enjoying these classes. You’re setting a great example that fitness doesn’t have to be just running. I love it!

I eat 5-6 small meals a day. I don’t really snack because I know I’m going to eat again in 3 hours. It works well for me and my last meal is always something sweet like a balance bar or Greek yogurt with chocolate chips. My fave snack is vanilla Chobani w/Kashi GoLean Crunch.

I like snacking on rainier cherries! I can eat them all day long without ever tiring of them!

I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks typically!

  20. Trampolines look awesome by the way. I wish we had classes like that at my gym.

For snacks i like granola bars, yogurt, veggies and hummus, apple and nut butter, frozen yogurt, ice cream…i love snacks!

  22. As an RD, I’m so proud of you! First of all, great job on the workouts, I’m super impressed. Second, you added water to that HIGH sodium soup, fantastic! And that’s a great idea, people should do it more often. There is nothing wrong with soup, but it’s easy to make it much healthier by simply adding water. You could even add garlic or pepper too.

FAvorite snack: My homemade granola. I am addicted to it and have been for two years.
I snack multiple times during the day, despite what Jillian form the BL says, and I’m stuck on my decision to do so!

  23. That class looks awesome! I’m gonna have to see if there’s anything similar around here.

I also want to start doing yoga..aside from the classes, anyone know of any good yoga DVD’s?

  24. I used to eat 5-6 little meals throughout the day. But now, with my exercise level, I find that I prefer 3 larger ones with a small afternoon snack. Having multiple meals throughout the day became kind of tiring as far as planning goes, and it never left me “fully satisfied” (Twilight reference, hahaha yes I’m a dork!).

I’ve been getting myself back into shape after the last few months for fear of the dreaded freshman 15 and been doing pretty well. Your blog will definitely keep me in line :) can’t wait to try some of the great places you talk about! especially the soft serve place.

I usually have some sort of sweet snack… chocolate or sorts. Basically whatever I feel like having. I don’t really have 3 main meals… more like a small breakfast, big lunch, medium sized dinner, and probably 2 snacks or so.

Working out on the trampoline sounds like so much fun and super duper challenging! I hope you aren’t wicked sore tomorrow!

My favorite snack is mini bags of smart pop. I usually eat 4-6 times a day. Usually I can make it from bfast to lunch without a snack but I can never make lunch to dinner especially because I work out after work. Sometimes I also have a snack after dinner but it depends on how hungry I am. I could NEVER eat only 3 meals!

I tried that rebounding class when I was in Argentina, it was great , really hard cardio work!!!
I usually only eat 3 big meals and prefer that way because I love eating meals when i’m hungry. If I have to snack, I’d grab a fruit or toast.
