Hello everyone! Hope you are staying warm in this weather! I had a pretty fun snow day yesterday. I met my friend at the movies and saw The Blind Side. We were going to see Avatar in 3D but it was sold out. It’s okay because Blind Side was very good!
We were both starving afterwards so we decided to get some dinner. We could not decide between being normal and making something at home in the blizzard or being adventurous and going out in the snow. Going out in the snow seemed much more fun. Then we could not decide between Uno, Outback, and Applebee’s. We seriously wrote each one down on a piece of paper and picked out of a hat! Outback won!
I was happy because I was craving their amazing bread!
So good with some butter on there.
The rest of the meal turned out to be a disaster!! I ordered the Tropical Relief Martini: Midori, Malibu Rum, mango flavors, and fresh citrus juices. After about 10 minutes, my friend’s drink came but not mine. The server took our order and a few minutes later, my drink arrived.
The drink was good but a little too sweet. I enjoyed the surprise cherry at the bottom!
I ordered a house salad with Tangy Tomato dressing on the side. My salad came out with tons of dressing all over it. I hate when my lettuce is drenched in dressing. The server did not come over to check on us so I had to grab a different girl and have her bring me dressing on the side.
I decided to switch to beer since the first drink was so sugary and not strong! I asked for a Blue Moon but they were out of it! I got a tall Coors Light instead.
For my main course, I ordered:
Fresh Tilapia with Pure Lump Crab Meat
Fresh Tilapia crowned with a crab stuffing, then topped with pure lump crab meat and sliced white button mushrooms, finished with a drizzle of light lemon butter Chablis sauce. Served with fresh seasonal veggies.
I ordered the lemon butter butter dressing on the side. Surprise surprise, the fish came out drenched in butter! I sat there for 5 minutes and finally our sever checked on us. I told him I asked for the butter sauce on the side. He said, “Okay, I’ll bring some out. “ I said, “No, I meant I did not want any butter sauce on the fish. I wanted it on the side!” He said he’d take care of it.
15 minutes later, we were still waiting. He did not check on us once. He did not offer to reheat my friend’s steak. We decided to get a manager since we were so aggravated at this point. She was very nice and said she would take care of my meal and make my friend a new steak.
Finally my fish came out.
I filled up on too much bread since we waited so long but the fish was still very good. It definitely did not need all the butter sauce! I am not usually one to complain so much at a restaurant but the server barely checked on us so it made it very frustrating. We will not be going back for a long time!
We got home, drank some much needed Bud Light Lime, and watched Star Trek. I passed out half way through! Oops!
I have no idea what I am doing today! I had to cancel my Core Fusion class because of the snow! I need to get motivated to do a workout DVD today!
1) What was your worst restaurant experience?
Have a good day!

You are right! I only crave that place because of the bread!

My worst restaurant experience was recently actually. I went to dinner with my parents a couple months ago to a small Italian place. We’ve been there a few times before and it is really good. This place was packed and they were obviously understaffed. They took FOREVER for everything, and the service was so bad. It took them 2.5 HOURS to bring them our food, and 30 minutes to bring us our bread. They also brought out my mom’s order 1 hour before mine and my dad’s. It was awful and i’ll never go back!

Oh no!! So sorry about that
My worst restaurant experience = finding a beetle crawling in my salad.

UGH hate when you have waiter or waitress and they just don’t give a F about you!!! I also hate when you are with a big party and they don’t write ANTYHIGN down! do they think they will remember everyting, and most of the time they always screw up!
I have many times ordered salads with dressing on the sides or main dishes with the sauce on the side and surprise! it comes out drenched as well! your fish did look good when it finally came our right!
I want to see the blind side soo bad!!

Dude that sucks! I hate inattentive servers. I’m sure the place wasn’t even that busy because of the snow. I can’t really think of a bad experience off the top of my head, but I always get stuck with a terrible server.

Sounds like you had a crappy evening – I hate when servers are horrible!
I love Outback’s bread – at least you had some food to keep you going!

That stinks about the restaurant!! Sorry to hear about the horrendous dinner! Hope you’re not snowed in today!

I don’t think it’s the bread that’s addicting, it’s their darn butter! I love that stuff. I could eat it straight out of the ramekin. I haven’t been to the Outback in a few years though
I hope you have heat by now!

Wow everything that could have been messed up they messed up on! That is horrible! I can’t believe they even brought you the wrong drink! I always try not to complain either but if they bring my food out wrong I always send it back. I mean, we are paying for it! I always ask for my salad w/out dressing and think thats a pretty common request so I get pissed when it comes out wrong. I won’t even attempt to eat it because I hate my salad drenched and it adds a lot of unwanted calories, fat and STRONG flavor! I am happy they at least comped you your meal.
My worst experience wasn’t at a restaurant but was from delivery recently… I ordered a salad and my BF ordered chicken fingers… they didn’t even bring my salad! I was so pissed!

My husband and I had happy memories of Outback when we were growing up. So we were excited to have dinner together at the Outback a couple months ago. We were disappointed with the experience. The food wasn’t even that great!
I want to see the Blind Side. Sounds like a great story and I LOVE football!

Ugh what a pain! I hate going somewhere all for it to be a disappointment.

There are too many to list. It is the worst when everything goes wrong.
I got a workout today shoveling all that freaking snow.

Ugh! Very frustrating!
I’ve had several, but overall just terrible waitstaff. As a former waitress during college, I hate bad service! Being part of a waitstaff is hard work and not for everyone, but it can make or break a dining experience, that’s for sure!

I don’t know what makes the bread so soft, but it’s so addicting! Maybe you can ask the kitchen not to grill your fish in butter next time. I’m sure you can customize your dish as well. Yea, bad service can really ruin a dining experience, especially since Outback’s prices aren’t that cheap to start with.

OMG I LOVE their bread!!! I haven’t been to Outback in forever. Love that place!
Hmmm….I can’t think off hand of a horrible restaurant experience – shows you how much I go out! LOL

I think that is totally approprate behavior for that kind of service! i WOULD have demanded a discount. Maybe the server was new. idk. But i once had a tight curly hair wrapped around some macaroni in a mac and cheese dish. I gagged and when they offered to bring anohter one I yelled “THERE WAS A HAIR STUCK in the MACARONI- KEEP YOUR HAIRY MAC” and everyone looked at me… then he comped the meal. never went back.

you should make a fuss saying yourre allergic to somethingtoo. My mom cant have seeds on her sushi so when they put the seeds after she said not to I make a fus saying she could DIE if they give her seeds. if they know they can get sued over the seeds they will not put them.
