Saturday turned out to be an extremely productive day. It started off with my roommate texting me to see if I was awake. She was supposed to go home to Philly but stayed in New York so we could look at some apartments. She told me to wake up my boyfriend so we could go out to breakfast at the Tower Diner first!
It was easy getting him up when I mentioned the diner! I got my usual Mediterranean omelet: egg whites with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and feta cheese. I got home fries this time instead of sweet potato fries because I knew I would eat way less home fries. I don’t really like them unless they are really well done. I also had a piece of bacon and whole wheat toast on the side.
The boy got amazing buttermilk pancakes. I had to take a picture.
After breakfast, we went to look at 2 apartments. I had to miss Core Fusion since the appointments were at the same time of the class. Hopefully I can try the class within the next week or two!
The first apartment was the same one that we were supposed to see on Thursday but the guy stood us up. He ended up being a broker and we are trying to avoid any broker’s fee. He was on the “No Fee” section of Craigslist so we were pissed. The apartment was not very nice anyway so no thanks!
The 2nd apartment was just way too small. We are looking for a 1 bedroom since it is so much cheaper so it is important for the rooms to be big. My landlord called for the rent after and my roommate told her about our mice situation and how building maintenance is not helping us at all. My landlord kept blaming it on us and saying that we probably are dirty. We told her we are so clean and it is not normal to catch 8 mice in one day! Finally she agreed to come over on Monday and said that if it was clean, she would call another exterminator. Ugh, I still don’t want to pay rent this month! I will definitely make sure my apartment is spotless on Monday!
After apartment hunting, we decided to walk in the park since it was so nice out! It was so pretty by the lake!
There was a race going on and I got really excited watching everyone run! I found a sign that said it was a 6 to 10 day race!!
The goal of the race is to run as many miles as possible in the 6 to 10 days. We found the mile markers and saw that the racers were on day 5! Amazing! I don’t know how they could run for 5 days straight! Most of the people seemed incredibly tired. It still fascinates me since I can barely run outside for 10 minutes straight!
More park prettiness….
This was delicious and kept me full until dinner. My roommate, bf, and I decided to go to Canal Street to do some shopping after. For anyone who is not familiar with New York, Canal Street has a bunch of stands and little shops where you can bargain with the sellers. They sell all the fake bags and jewlery that sometimes look pretty real! My roomy found a clothing store that has cute jeans and shoes for very low prices there so she wanted to bring me.
Us on the subway!
- Tofu
- Soba Noodles
- Grilled Veggies
- Edamame and Brown Rice Salad
- Cabbage
- Kidney Beans
- Black Beans
- Garlic Spinach
- Peas
And more but I can’t remember now! So good! I had it with a Vitamin Water.
We went to The Lite Choice for dessert! I got half Snickers and half French Vanilla with carob chips!!
My favorite thing ever! We sat in Union Square outside for about an hour just watching everyone. It was so nice out!!
I forgot to mention that boyfriend and my roommate stopped at Crumbs to get cupcakes! I resisted because I was upset since my pants were tight that morning. The ice cream satisfied me anyway! Look at my boyfriend’s cupcake!
A Hostess cupcake!! Yes, I had a bite and it was heaven. We drank two more beers after and watched some Law and Order. He brought out his leftover pizza while watching TV so I ended up eating 2 pieces of my Kashi pizza that was leftover. He also brought out edamame after that! So hard to resist everything late at night!

YUM! that egg white omelete looks right up my alley. I’m gonna make a trip there for sure if i go to NYC!!! And that WF salad rocks. If only i could make that at home, i’d be one happy woman.
p.s. your review on the passion mango yogurt totally cracked me up! hahaha i’m sorry that it was so thin!!! i am definitely glad you like it htough because i gave up on their yogurt after a miserable chocolate one, and a mediocre vanilla. teehee..you’re too cute.

Catherine: Thanks for delurking! I love comments hehe. The store was called “Girls Only.” It was near Broadway and Canal. The clothes weren’t great but the jeans were 30 bucks and the shoes were all around 20!
LuckyTasteBuds: Funny you said that! I just opened the choclate yogurt for the first time and do NOT like it! Oh well!
