Nutritional Powerhouse

Good Morning on this warm spring December day! I chose the wrong day to wear a sweater and winter coat! I cooled off yesterday and today with a nice green juice!

This is probably my favorite new juice combo. Not only does it contain tons of nutrients; it tastes great too! The apple, lime, and ginger combination overpowers the greens so it is actually pretty tasty! I chugged this while getting ready for work both mornings.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Oats!

I arrived at work and made an amazing breakfast!

blog3 042

I used 1 packet of Nature’s Path Flax Plus oats, banana, Justin’s Maple Almond Butter, and Navita’s Naturals Cocao Sweet Nibs.

blog3 043

The nibs are a Mayan Superfood and high in antioxidants, iron, and magnesium. They are certified organic, vegan and raw. They made a wonderful addition to my oats! They had a rich cocoa taste with a crunchy texture. They are so good that I’ve been snacking on them right out of the bag!

Lunch was a repeat turkey sandwich.

With a Z-Bar for something sweet.

Later in the day, I got my usual afternoon munchies. I went to the kitchen to grab an apple. At the exact same time, a birthday was getting done and a coworker brought the leftover cake into the kitchen. Usually when I hear a birthday, I try to stay at my desk to avoid walking by the cake! Yesterday I walked into the kitchen at the wrong time! I saw the cake and decided I needed to have some and save the apple for another day.

blog3

It was well worth it. It was soft vanilla cake with amazing creamy frosting on the outside. Yum!

Spin!

I got a great workout in after work so there was no damage done! I started off with a 20 minute light walk on the treadmill since I had some time before class started and burned 130 calories. I decided to take spin since I refuse to attempt step class ever again! It was intense! I wasn’t even trying that hard but my heart rate got up to 194! I felt like I couldn’t breathe at times and had to lower my resistance. It was most likely because I am getting over bronchitis and am on antibiotics. Either way it was an awesome workout. I burned another 490 calories in class!

The roomy and I decided to meet at the Tower Diner right after for a quick dinner. I decided on breakfast for dinner!

blog3 045

I got an egg white omelet with feta cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. I had some whole wheat toast on the side.  I ate the top layer of the potatoes because I only like the burnt part! Yum!

blog3 046

She bought some ice cream afterwards but I passed since I already had cake at work. It is all about balance!

I am off to go catch up on blogs! I will leave you with some questions!

  1. What is your favorite breakfast food?
  2. What are your favorite toppings for pancakes?

1.     My favorite breakfast food is french toast! I used to order it all of the time with extra powdered sugar. I try to stick with omelets these days!

2.    I love chocolate chip pancakes with bananas and syrup. YUM!

  • The cake looks delicious. Sounds like an intense spin class, wow! So jealous you can always get into spin. At my location I need to call the day before or it fills up and I never plan ahead that much.

I LOVE pancakes and french toast. I have been getting both lately because I just like them so much. Favorite topping is real maple syrup.

  • I don’t know if I could ever pick a favorite breakfast food. I love a lot of things: oatmeal, egg sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, cereal. I guess I tend to prefer sweeter stuff. No sausage or bacon for me!

  • I love Towers Home Fries!

When doing breakfast I have to be in the mood for something. Normally is omlettes with a veggie and a cheese. My fav combo is broc and cheddar!

Pancakes I do up with lots of cinnamon in the batter… if im feeling naughty a dollop of whipped cream puts it on a whole ‘notha level!

Are you still juicing sweetie? don’t you get cold after drinking it? I wish i could keep drinking these nutritional powerhouse, but I get too cold! :(

    Missy Maintains Reply:

Yep, still juicing! I don’t get too cold after drinking it. It is probably because I drink it while getting ready, blow drying my hair, and running all over my room like a psycho woman!

  • Pumpkin oatmeal is definitely my favorite breakfast – always tastes good, always keeps me full, and always room to switch it up! :)

I’m a maple syrup girl when it comes to pancakes. I’d rather have my fruit on the side than on top of my pancakes!
