Let me just say it has been one crazy morning. I went to bed at 11:30 last night. At 4:30 am, I woke up for no reason. Of course I could not fall back asleep so I had a Z-Bar since it put me back to sleep the night before.
That did not work because my whole body started itching! I am guessing it is from tanning but I was seriously going crazy. I had my alarm set for 6:10 to go to the gym, so at 5:30 I decided to just get up and go. There was a 6:00 spin class so I figured there was no point in trying to sleep for an extra half hour. I was soo tired but forced myself up.
As I was about to head out the door, there was a note on the ground. It was from the people that live below me. Let me start off by saying that they bang on the ceiling all the time!! Even when I am just walking around getting ready for work, I hear banging. I can’t even think about doing a workout video because they flip out! I will type the letter the exact way it is on paper:
We are your neighbour down to your room. Pls. have courtesy for your neighbourhood.
DON’T WALK HARDLY ATLEAST IN MIDNIGHT AND EARLY MORNING.
DON’T PLACE THE OBJECTS HARDLY
AS PER BUILDING LAW, EVERYBODY HAVE CARPET ON THE FLOOR.
THIS IS EVERYDAY PROBLEM.
WE KNOCK YOUR DOOR TO TALK, YOU GUYS DON’T OPEN THE DOOR.THAT IS VERY EMBARACING.
IMAGINE IF YOU ARE IN OUR PLACE. YOU ARE SLEEPING AND UPSTAIR GUY WAKE YOU UP EVERYDAY IN SAME MANNER AS I DESCRIBE ABOVE,HOW DO YOU FEEL.
PLEASE BE CONSIDER WE ALL ARE HERE TO LIVE WELL AND GOOD NOT TO DISTURB NEIGHBOURS.
THANKYOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
I do not even know what to say to this! The first weirdest thing is that we got a letter just like this at the last place I lived. Second, there is no law about carpets. It is not my fault there are thin hardwood floors. Third, they have never knocked on our door to talk to us!! The only thing they ever do is bang on the ceiling! I will be writing a lovely letter back to them stating all of these things. So ridiculous.
Anyway, I got to the gym and did the spin class at 6. Even though I was so tired, it was a great workout! I was so drenched. The only thing that bothered me was my nose would not stop running! This happens all the time when I work out! Does anyone else have this problem?
The class was over at 6:45 and I felt like I was going to pass out. I decided to just walk slowly on the treadmill for 20 minutes because I had a lot of time to kill before work. I am glad I did it even though I will probably be sleeping at my desk soon!
As I was leaving the gym, Kickboxing teacher walked by me but I didn’t know it was him till after! He said, “Have a nice day Melissa!” AAH! Haha I’m such a loser.
I got to work at 9 after pretty much passing out on the subway. I made my Blueberry Almond Oats with half a banana. I ate the other half on the way to work because I was starving.
All with a cup of Tazo Awake Tea. Off to make another cup!!

It’s a mental thing so if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep try drinking hot water with lemon and it should do the trick as well with much less calories, etc. =)

P.S. – I feel your neighbors pain b/c the lady above me walks around in high heels around 530am, vacuums 24 hours a day and moves furniture 24 hours a day but I would never say anything…it’s an apartment building!! As for the carpet law…we do have one in my building since it’s a co-op. Floors must be at leas 80% covered with carpets. They check once a year! Hopefully they will move out soon. Keep doing your thing and don’t worry about them! =)

Ashley: A lot of people say that hot tea or water is a solution to this. For me I feel like it would not work because when I have to pee the slightest bit, I can’t sleep either! Maybe the water will not be as bad as tea though so I will have to give that a try!

ah! that reminds me of my neighbors when i was at school! getting notes is annoying, it would be much better if they have a problem if they would come up to you and speak to you in person. i know exactly how you feel! Hope you don’t have any more run-ins with them!

I hope everything works out with your neighbors. I would be upset if I got a letter like that!
I’ve been following for awhile and this is my first time commenting! Love your blog!

that. is. hilarious.
i feel bad because they are probably so frustrated, and they can’t even communicate properly! you should call the apartment manager and see if maybe they would agree to put in a carpet or something?
it is not your fault that the sounds penetrate down to them like that- you need to be able to live your life normally- but i guess they do too?

RhodeyGirl: Good idea about the carpet. I left a message for my landlord to see what she has to say so I will suggest that! I def. do not wanna spend the money to put my own in because I do not know how long I will be staying in this apartment. We’ve had lots of other problems too.
I really would like to have the option of being able to do a workout video every now and then without banging on my ceiling though!

And if you get a Wii, they will really flip out…
