Hello! I was planning on doing a recap of my fun night last night (Phillies won again in the last inning!!!) I forgot my camera cord so instead I will start a giveaway a little earlier than planned! I’m sure you are all fine with that!
This week’s giveaway is sponsored by Michael Season’s Snacks!

If you’ve been reading my blog since last March, you may remember me doing a giveaway once before! The company contacted me again to inform me of their new 100 calorie packs!! In case you’ve never heard of Michael Season’s, here are a few fun facts about the snacks:
- All Natural
- Wheat Free
- Gluten Free
- No Trans Fat
- No Preservatives
- No Artificial Colors
- No Artificial Flavors
The products are super healthy and very delicious! I especially love the cheese curls! I am thrilled about the new 100 calorie packs since I have issues with portion control! I remember dipping the Multigrain Baked chips into hummus and almost finishing an entire bag! These will be perfect to bring to work with me for a quick, healthy snack.

One lucky winner will receive a cute lunch tote and 4 100 calorie bags of Michael Season’s chips!
1) Give me a suggestion to help with portion control!
2) Link back to this giveaway on your blog and leave me a 2nd comment below.
3) Tweet this giveaway. “RT @MissyMaintains Enter to win Michael Season’s 100 Calorie Snacks! http://bit.ly/3KreJ5″

portion control? try to each one portion each time. if I want more.. I drink water, wait 15 min, if I still want it, I go for it, but most of the time, i just don't!
and if I buy big bags, I separate them in portion sizes right after i open it.

I bag things like almonds, pretzels and dried fruit as soon as I come back from the grocery store. It makes things easier to grab and go, and helps control overeating!

i like to use little spoons. it slows me down (im always in a rush to get to class!) and helps me relish some time to myself.

i think portioning chips and icecream into a bowl and then LEAVING THE KITCHEN works best for me

Fantastic giveaway!! I did not see this brand at the ADA expo, however I tried many crackers and there were so many delicious ones (I'm not really a big fan of crackers, but I think this expo changed my mind!). I won't enter the giveaway since at the moment I have more free samples than I know what to do with!
Thanks for the giveaway shout out!

Hi!!!! Thanks for the opportunity to win these yummy looking snacks!! As far as portion control goes…I always make sure to eat off of smaller plates than normal. My family makes fun of me because I don't have a "set" of the same style plates, but have randomly picked them up at various places just because I like the size of them. It has helped alot!

Portion control: rubbermaid containers, the tiny ones are a 1/4 cup!

portion control, eh?
i say take some one, put it in a bowl, and then PUT THE BAG/BOX/WHATEVER away!
i noitce in the mornings if i leave the cereal box out, ill grab "just a lil more" several times. but if i put it away after i pour, voila! i get up, put my bowl away, and get on with my day!

I learned to eat with my non-dominant hand-that way it takes me longer to eat my meal and I can really think about the taste instead of rushing through it!

Definitely package your own portions, and keep the larger container somewhere inconvenient and out of reach!

Preportion crackers, cookies, chips etc. into baggies. Measure ice cream, and other foods that you have trouble controlling. If you know you won't be bothered to do this, buy individual serving sizes.

this isn't for everyone: but weighing out your portions on a food scale! Great for meals, but also for when snacking- if you separate out your portion and know how much it is it often (not always…) helps prevent going back for more

Awesome give away! I use small plates as my dinner plates; that's if I am not eating salad.

I struggle with portion control too and have found that if I buy anything in large quantities, I will just eat too much of it so I go grocery shopping frequently and get small amounts. The extra effort that it takes to go get more is often enough of a deterrent for me when I'm tempted to overeat. Hope that that helps!

When I go to a restaurant for pasta (which I love), I will ask for an extra plate. I will decide how much I want/need to eat, and put that much on the plate. Whatever is left, I will either take home (for another meal later) or leave behind. I hate to waste food; but I learned a long time ago that it is not necessary to eat everything on my plate just for the sake of "not wasting."

When I buy something that is not pre-portioned, I open the bag and portion it into small containers or ziploc bags. It helps so that I am not tempted to not just grab the box or bag of whatever it is and dig in.

awww fun giveaway! I used smaller plates to help with portion control

I have portion control issues as well!! Especially on my hour drive to the gym in the afternoon. I used to always have a 2 lb. bag of Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds in my car because that was a good 'healthy' snack before the gym. NOT when you indulge yourself with a good 1/2 lb in one hour!? So I started portioning out 1/4 c. of almonds in ziploc bags & only allow myself to take one a day with me in the car. If by chance I have to ride in the car with big bags of snacks (like on the way home from the grocery), I hide them in the trunk to make them unaccessible to me on my drive. I tried the back seat but it's as if they are stalking me back there! Now they make individual packs, but it's SO much cheaper to do it yourself, not to mention it gives you piece of mind for self-control!

great giveaway, Missy!! I love chips to go along with my sammies
best tip for portion conrol: use smaller plates!

how did I miss this awesome giveaway?!?!
well to help with portion control, instead of sitting on the couch with a box of cereal I always take out a certain amount in a baggie and bring that with me so I am not tempted to eat the entire box!

Smaller plates/bowls for items that you often over eat. We first eat with our eyes after all.
Lots of water always helps me with keeping portions down.

Sometimes I literally have to keep things outside of the house. I have a detached garage and have been known to take out a portion of something and put the rest of it in my garage to store. I have even kept things outside in the trunk of my car before, or the extras in my attic!

I am the portion control queen and let me tell you that little plastic snack baggies are my lifesaver…especially with Annie's Honey Bunnies in the house…no one is safe without the preportioned baggies!
And make 'em right away or the stressfulness of the week will pile up and you won't want to make them in the moment…trust me!

when I want to portion out my snacks I put them in little ziploc bags.

Portion control tip: I found these nifty containers (fitnfresh) they are 1 cup serving containers and actually have the measurements on there…so for example I know if I only want half cup of nuts it is on there and can measure it out right in the container. They also come with freezer pack lids to keep the food cool

Weighing my food and then portioning it into ziplock tupperware or bags has helped me immensely with portion control (which isn't to say I don't still eat 4 ziplock bags of some things :S )

For portion controlling snacks; I have a number of friends who have baby's. They all have tonns of Baby Food plastic containers. They're the perfect size for one small single serving of ice cream or crackers, or chips, or candy…whatever you're craving. They all have lids too so you can fill it up with your granola or whatever to snack on at work. I ALWAYS have at least 2 in my purse filled with sensible sized portions:)
