Michael Season’s Giveaway!

Hello! I was planning on doing a recap of my fun night last night (Phillies won again in the last inning!!!) I forgot my camera cord so instead I will start a giveaway a little earlier than planned! I’m sure you are all fine with that!

This week’s giveaway is sponsored by Michael Season’s Snacks!

If you’ve been reading my blog since last March, you may remember me doing a giveaway once before! The company contacted me again to inform me of their new 100 calorie packs!! In case you’ve never heard of Michael Season’s, here are a few fun facts about the snacks:

  • All Natural
  • Wheat Free
  • Gluten Free
  • No Trans Fat
  • No Preservatives
  • No Artificial Colors
  • No Artificial Flavors

The products are super healthy and very delicious! I especially love the cheese curls! I am thrilled about the new 100 calorie packs since I have issues with portion control! I remember dipping the Multigrain Baked chips into hummus and almost finishing an entire bag! These will be perfect to bring to work with me for a quick, healthy snack.

I use a food scale & portion snacks out into little baggies. Then I put the small bags into the large bag or box & place them on the shelf so they don't take up a lot of space.

I tend to have problems with portion control in that my eyes are much hungrier than my stomach… so knowing that I tend to serve myself more than I need, I cut everything on my plate in half and commit to putting it away as leftovers after I finish the first half. That way I don't feel like I should finish everything just because it's there.

I measure everything. Then I put it in baggies or in plastic containers.

Yum!!! What helps me is using small containers as bowls and lunch sized plates as dinner plates!

I use measuring cups and measure everything out, but I feel like a digital scale might be too much (at least for me). I don't want it to seem like I'm going to crazy over portion control, but I still want to have an idea of what my intake is.

I normally use ziploc baggies for portion control. They get kind of expensive and it's wasteful, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, right? If I'm in a hurry I just use measuring cups though. Sometimes I eyeball it!

I divide things up into containers, or I have my husband hide things and then I ask for a portion if it is something I struggle with.

For portion control, I second the ziploc suggestion… also, sometimes if something I am eating has, say, 3 servings in the container, I will have a smaller serving the first two times, saving the 'big' serving for the 3rd time- so it feels like a treat, even though it works out to be an appropriate # of calories overall.
