Last night I tried the Macaroni Grill Basil Parmesan Chicken courtesy of MyBlogSpark. They also sent me a nice serving dish and pasta tongs!
I haven’t been to a Macaroni Grill in years but I was excited to create a similar pasta meal at home!
The bag contained 2 servings so I made the whole thing and immediately put the other half in a container. I’m glad I did this because the meal was delicious! I am not too crazy about the nutrition facts but eating this one or two nights for dinner will not kill me.
The sodium content is extremely high but that seems to be the case with most frozen meals. I do like that it has almost 30 grams of protein. The ingredient list is also a little long but could be worse.
To make the meal, I cooked the contents of the bag on a skillet and added 1/4 cup of skim milk.
It cooked for about 10 minutes and was ready! I liked how easy it was to prepare. It smelled delicious and my roommate actually thought I was cooking dinner for once!
I paired a serving of the pasta with a salad for some extra greens.
This was such a delicious dinner! It really could have come straight out of a restaurant. I liked that there was plenty of broccoli and chicken mixed in with the pasta. I don’t know that I would buy it again because of the sodium content and long ingredient list but it was definitely a nice treat for dinner!

That actually looks pretty good. Its perfect for a quick meal and I know JP would love it. I’m actually surprised that the nutritional details are as good as they are, the fat is high and so is the sodium, but its got a decent amount of fiber and lots of protein.
If I could try one for myself it would be the scampi, if I were getting one for JP it would be the basil chicken, but the Florentine looks good too.

I tend to like the no chain restuarants but Macaroni Grill is one that I do enjoy going to and splurging. I would like to try any of their frozen entrees. Probably their basil chicken would be a first to try.

Wow, these babies have WA TOO MUCH sodium! You know what I would do? I would just add more protein and/or veggies to the entree and only have a half of a serving at a time. It would still taste great! I would like to try the garlic shrimp scampi. Even though I can’t eat garlic,I would love to try it.
