Lunch and a FullBar Review!

Hope everyone is having a nice day despite the disgusting weather. Please bring the 70 degree weather back! I was debating going to the gym at lunch since it is so windy and rainy out. I decided I better get the week started off right, especially after my boss put this on my desk…

A rice krispy treat!!! It’s been years since I had one of these! I used to make them all the time when I was a kid. I was not about to turn this one down! It was just as good as I remember!

I got to the gym at 12 and did a half hour on the elliptical.

Stats:

Calories Burned: 232
Maximum Heart Rate: 181

I came back to the office after and ate lunch at my desk.

FULLBAR REVIEW

Last week, I received a box from FullBar containing 2 Caramel Apple Crisp FullBars and 2 AquaFull packets: Zesty Lemon Tea and Berry Bliss.

According to the Fullbar website:

Founded by Dr. Michael A. Snyder, a leading weight-loss surgeon, FullBar is all natural and delicious. Simply eat FullBar with an 8-ounce glass of water 30 minutes before your 2 biggest meals of the day. For added fullness and flavor, drink Aquafull with your FullBar. By meal time, you’ll eat less and your hunger will be completely satisfied.

Fullbar’s all natural ingredients help increase the sense of fullness that you feel before your main meal so that you eat what you want, but not as much. You still achieve appetite satisfaction, but with less food. When you don’t have hunger pains, dieting is easier and you lose weight.

We put Fullbar to the test and found that after a 3-month weight-loss study, people lost an average of 40% of their excess weight and 95% of trial participants were successful in losing weight!*

I was a little skeptical about this whole concept but decided to give everything a try. On Saturday, boyfriend and I tried the AquaFull packets after our 2 hour walk.

We mixed them in bottles of water and had a taste of both.

I am going to be honest here…not good! You could barely taste the packets. They both had a very weird flavor and were not nearly sweet enough. I was expecting a refreshing fruity taste like Crystal Lite but these were bland and provided a huge disappointment to my taste buds.

As far as keeping me full? I had a banana with it and was still starving. I did just get done walking for 2 hours right before so I obviously was not expecting to feel full anyway.

Today after lunch, I decided to try the FullBar. I was not hungry or anything but was craving a snack so I pulled it out.

Sorry, I took a bite before taking the picture! I liked the taste of the bar. It had a cinnamon apple flavor to it that was not overly sweet. I did not love the texture. It reminded me of a mix between a rice cake, cardboard, and a sponge. I ate the whole bar since it had a pretty good flavor but the texture was definitely a turn off.

INGREDIENTS: Brown Rice Syrup, Puffed Wheat Cereal (Durum Wheat, Ferric Orthophosphate, Niacinamide, Thiamine, Mononitrate, Riboflavin), Soy Protein Concentrate, Caramel (Corn Syrup, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Nonfat Milk, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Cream, Milk Protein Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Disodium Phosphate), Honey, Evaporated Apples, Gum Arabic, Glycerin, Agave Syrup, Canola Oil, Natural Flavors, Caramel Color.

I can’t see why I would eat a 160 calorie bar right before a meal. I would much rather enjoy my meal than waste 160 calories and only be able to eat some of it. Maybe it would work for people who eat 1000 calorie meals. For someone like me who keeps most of their meals around 300 to 500 calories, it does not make too much sense to eat the bar.

I also do not like the huge list of ingredients. I like to be able to pronounce every ingredient. Give me a Larabar over this any day please. It has high fructose corn syrup too! Eating these bars seems like a downgrade to my diet!

I like the idea of eating soup or an apple before a meal to keep myself from going overboard rather than a FullBar. It is a good concept and maybe it works for some people but not me. I am full now that I ate the bar but was not too hungry to begin with. I will continue to enjoy and savor each and every bite of my real meals without these bars!

Today after work I plan to go to Kickboxing or Spin! I am scared to go home because the boy just caught another mouse. That is 4 in 2 days! If I see one, I will have a panic attack. AAH! Better go stalk my landlord now!

    Missy,

I just recently started reading your blog. Thank you for that honest review of the FullBar. I saw that bar at GNC yesterday and I had a look at it, but since it was like a dietary thing I didnt really pay attention to it.

Like I said, Im glad you gave an honest review about this, bcuz some people will say nice things about a product just because they got it from someone. Im glad I know better than to buy a FullBar!

    Thanks.

Shouldn’t you try it 30 min before a meal to see if it really stops your hunger though? I have to try mine this week!

thanks for the honest review! I have actually never heard of fullbar until you got them.

I always thought rice krispies ere only 90 calories??? not too too bad, but still not nutritious i suppose

I actually love fullbars. ALthough I have only had the peanut butter and chocolate flavors, and they really keep me full.

But to each her own :)

Gen: Thanks for reading! Yeah I feel there is no point in giving reviews if I can’t be honest about them. It is rare that I don’t like something too so I have no problem telling everyone!

Dori: I am going to try the 2nd one before the meal and see. This one did make me pretty full but for breakfast or lunch it would make no sense since I always eat oatmeal or a sandwich. Maybe it would be good for going out to dinner? I would just hate to order a delicious meal out and only eat a tiny bit because of my yucky Fullbar!

Sweetandfit: The actual cereal is only 90 calories but a rice krispie treat has butter and marshmallows so not the healthiest thing :)

Melissa: Maybe I will try another flavor! I know they sell them at CVS! I am always open to trying anything!

I reviewed the fullbar products a little while ago and was totally disappointed. They suck! I took one bite and tossed it. I think the product might work for someone that REALLY over eats…but not for the average person trying to lose wieght.
