I Like Bargains!

Happy Friday! Don’t worry, there were no police encounters or drug arrests this morning! Just a typical boring subway ride into the city. It was all worth it yesterday for our yummy breakfast!

We went to a deli called Chelsea Gourmet. I got an egg white and American cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread with a Vitamin water.

Simple but delicious sandwich!

Now for boy’s breakfast:

Bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel, watermelon, pudding, and orange juice (plus pasta an hour later). I split the watermelon and pudding with him though so it wasn’t that much! All of that was under $15.00 so it was a nice deal! Definitely a lot less expensive than it would have been at Energy Kitchen!

I brought a lovely sandwich for lunch.

I used:

Yesterday was my first time trying crunchy Barney Butter and I highly enjoyed it. It’s been in my cabinet for over 6 months now but I lost my taste for Barney Butter for a while. I bought a jar of the creamy plus 50 of the packets a while ago so I got kind of sick of them. Plus the packets would harden and all of the oil would pour into my oats so I got grossed out. Anyway the crunchy is delicious but I dought I’d spend the money on it again.

I could eat this sandwich for ever meal. Yum. I had some Soy Crisps on the side.

I was not completely satisfied after lunch so I stopped at Westside Market and picked up coffee, fruit, and a piece of chocolate. Best combo!!

After work the boy and I went to Whole Foods! We hadn’t been there for 2 months so we were both extremely excited! I pretty much got one of everything from the salad bar.

Baked tofu

  • Garlic string beans
  • Sesame broccoli
  • Edamame
  • Carrots
  • Chickpeas
  • Soba noodles
  • Roasted Veggies (best part of the salad)

The boy got salad plus a giant slice of pizza.

I had a piece of it. So delicious!

After we ate, I organized all of my coupons to get ready for some bargain shopping!

I left with lots of goodies!!

The popchips were Buy 1 Get 1 Free. The Z-Bars were 2 for $6.00! I guess the only thing I payed full price for was the Justin’s Maple Almond Butter packet for $1.00. I see it on all the blogs so I needed to try it! Everything else you see below was FREE!

Let’s just say the cashier hated me. Actually he said he wanted to start his own blog! Lol. Very exciting when the bill goes from $30.00 to $9.00.

We got home and brought out our new Turtle Mountain Mint Marble Fudge ice cream… and a few other toppings for a banana split!

I opened the ice cream and was very excited to see huge chunks of fudge!!

I heated up the Z-Bar for 10 seconds, added some banana and whipped cream, and made the best banana split ever!

Very nice way to end the night!

Juicer News!

The other day I went to Barnes N’ Noble because I had a gift card to use. I never buy books there because why not get them on Amazon for 1/4 of the price? I decided to pick book that I would read more than once. That usually means a food book! Since I’ve been debating with myself about whether or not to get a juicer, I decided on this book:

I figured I should educate myself a little more about juicing before making such a big purchase. I am only on chapter 4 but it already convinced me to go ahead and get one! I decided to buy the juicer that Gena recommends on her “kitchen tools” section.

I am very excited about it now! I will just have to get used to buying all organic produce and waking up a little early but it will be a change for the better. There are some good juice recipes in the book but if you guys have any recommendations, let me know! I will make a nice list.

I love how boys get to eat all the want!

I am really looking to buy a juicer too – juicing is a great & easy way to get all your veggie & fruit recommendations in for the day, plus it's much cheaper than buying it out. :)

Gina: Yes I ordered it online! They don't sell it in many stores.

Balancejoyanddelicias: I am always on ebay checking out those coupons too! Love it! Also I had Amazon gift cards to use so the juicer was free from there!

Yeah, stick it to the man with all your free stuff!

Excited for you to try juicing–it is THE most amazing way to start the day. The only drawback is cleaning the thing! I have to get up an extra 20 minutes earlier or so to juice and then clean up.
