Hot Chocolate Fun!

My computer got a virus out of nowhere so I had to sit here for the last hour while it scanned! I was not even going to attempt to blog because it was being sooo slow. The IT guy asked what I was doing and I had to admit that I was reading blogs :( Oh well! I have permission from my boss to do what I want online because she knows I get bored!

This morning I had a little snack because I was feeling hungry before the gym! I had some Missy Maintains Granola!

I had maybe half the bag because I am trying to save some for my oatmeal tomorrow!

I went to the gym at lunch and did a half hour on the elliptical. No comments from maintenance lady today but she did ask me two ridiculous questions!!!

1) “How many slices of whole wheat bread are you allowed to eat per day??”

Hah! I told her there is no set number. She said, “I had 2 slices today and I thought that was too many! ” I tried to explain that is is more about what type of bread it is and how many calories she consumes per day. Next question…..

2) “Are Ramen Noodles bad for me??”

You think 2 slices of bread is bad but you aren’t sure about Ramen!!?? I told her it is loaded with salt! I know she has high cholesterol and is trying to limit her sodium intake! She told me she does not eat the broth, just the noodles. Still no good!

She asks me all the time if what she eats is healthy and I do enjoy helping her but really, don’t yell at me about going to the gym if you obviously do not know your stuff about exercise and nutrition!

Anyway…my workout was good! I burned 232 calories, had a maximum heart rate of 174, and average of 151. Sounds more accurate than yesterday’s 208 heart rate!!

I got back to work and had some turkey!

  • Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
  • Mustard
  • Laughing Cow Cheese
  • Turkey
  • Lettuce
  • Cues

With some Mary’s Gone Crackers Sticks & Twigs!

Of course I was craving some chocolate so I decided to try hot chocolate instead of digging right into a bar!

My office supplies us with No Sugar Added Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate! 1 packet contains 60 calories and 7 grams of sugar. It was yummy for a change! I would not make it a habit because it contains evil artificial sweeteners which do not agree with my tummy. It also replaced my tea for the day so that is no good!

I had a second mug with an apple! I remembered to take a picture half way through the apple. Luckily 1 packet of hot chocolate made 3 mugs for me so it lasted pretty long. I have to admit that I started to dig into a bar after the apple! I stopped myself because I am truly full so I am going to save the bar for tomorrow. I only bring 1 piece of gum to work now which is why I am kind of going crazy! 1 more hour to go!!

Oh gosh if 2 slices of bread is too much, I’ve no chance. I have loads of bread and love it.

I used to love that hot chocolate when I worked at JPMorgan… it was free. I don’t do artificial sweeteners anymore but it was gooood.

I get frustrated when people don’t understand nutrition/diet/health/exercise as much as I do. I feel like they are always asking dumb questions and even when I explain they still don’t get it… but they keep asking for help. I’m sure the maintenance lady appreciates your answers though – it sounds like she has an interest but isn’t really sure where to start.

    Yummy eats!

I have that hot chocolate every once in awhile if I’m craving hot chocolate. It usually doesn’t agree with my stomach though :(

ugh that lady is a trip!!!

oh and next time you talk to her, if shes trying to lower her cholesterol, EXERCISE is a pretty important component of that task!

    As well as low sodium

    increasing fiber

    and decreasing SATURATED fat

    whew that lady is silly

Sorry about the virus. Hate stupid people who create programs like that!

I’m always getting interesting questions about nutrition, too. Fun times. :-)
