Yesterday was another fun day. I started off with a repeat bowl of Kashi GoLean with bananas and raisins. I should be making omelets while I am home but I feel so lazy! I haven’t been working out at all! Oops!
I cleaned all day and then headed into the city for my hour long reflexology appointment at Yan Foot Spa! I got an amazing deal from Spa Sally. For just $25.00, I got a half hour back massage and half hour foot massage. The back massage was a complete surprise! It was a very deep tissue massage that felt great. I could not handle the foot part at certain times because I am so ticklish! It was a nice relaxing hour though.
I headed to Whole Foods after to pick up a delicious salad for dinner.
It contained:
- String beans
- Roasted sweet potato
- Roasted asparagus
- Steamed kale
- Baked tofu
- Detox salad
- Mixed bean salad
So good!
Later I ended up with one of these babies at Chevy’s in Times Square.
It was a Pomegranate Margarita. I love that the calorie counts are next to each drink. Some of the margaritas were 480 calories. The one I chose was 240. I think I am done with my margarita kick now for a few reasons.
- No margarita I’ve tried in the past week has come close to the one at Five Burro Cafe.
- I felt so full and kind of nauseous after the one I had last night.
- I need to go back to my vodka soda with a splash of cranberry to save the calories and sugar!
It was fun trying them at a bunch of different places. I think I just can’t handle too much tequila and sugar at the same time!
Speaking of cocktails, I wanted to share some guilt-free New Year’s drinks that my friends from Ocean Spray sent me.
Today Americans consume 400+ calories in beverages a day (double what’s recommended by the Beverage Guidance Council). This New Year’s whether you’re staying in or going out there are quick, delicious, reduced-cal drinks worth toasting to. Below are three quick tips to help your readers ring in the New Year and their waistlines:
1. Remember calories are colorblind. Clear cocktails are not necessarily low calorie. For a low calorie treat try Ocean Spray’s 5-O Cosmo with only 50 little calories.
2. Opt for a diet mixer. Diet Ocean Spray Juice Drinks come in a variety of flavors, are made with real fruit juice, and have only 5 calories per 8-ounce serving.
3. Keep it simple. Fewer mixers, syrups and sugar rimmed glasses mean fewer calories. Add a splash of your favorite Ocean Spray juice to your spirit of choice and garnish with fresh, in season Ocean Spray cranberries to add flavor with fewer calories.
Playing host or hostess? Visit oceanspray.com for more cocktail or mocktail recipes, or download Ocean Spray’s “Unofficial, Official Fruit of the Holidays … and Every Day” cranberry brochure for tasty twists on party favorites: http://www.pimsmultimedia.com/ocean_spray_fall_09/recipes.php.

what is this detox salad? is it a pre made salad in the salad bar at WF? it sounds verrrry interesting!
I would take kashi and banana over omelets ANYDAY! for some reason I always crave cereal or oats or something more substantial than eggs in the morning, I prefer eggs for dinner or lunch!
tips for a guilt free NY would be…stick to the clear alcohol and I always have some crystal ligght packets with me, so if I order a vodka soda, I just throw some CL in there! Also, If you go to a NYE party, eat something before so you don’t eeat everything in sight when you get there!!

I think the detox salad had broccoli, cauliflower, lemon juice, and something else! It was great!
Great tips! I used to bring Crystal Light packets to bars to mix with vodka! I should start doing that again!

Besides cocktails, people consume too much bottled juice and soda. 8 oz is not very much and people usually pour double that amount. They really are hidden calories!

That cosmo sounds so good! I LOVE cranberry and lime mixed together. A few weeks ago I also mixed some lime, pom juice, and vodka with club soda…amazing and refreshing!

Keep in mind that getting a silver tequila margarita is much less caloric and won’t leave you as sick!

Have you ever had a skinny girl margarita? I’ve made them at home, but I heard you can buy it, but I’m not sure if that’s true.

That cosmo sounds delish!! I usually drink light beer, because hard alcohol can make me sick (orrrrr it might be because I insist on doing no less than 5 or 6 shots of tequila when I drink it). Beer is so filling, I can’t handle too much of it. But tequila is nice for a change….and not filling at all!

I try not to think about the extra calories I will be consuming tomorrow….but really I don’t consume extra calories from fluids that often. The most I get in a day is 150 from a beer. I like this cosmo idea, a lot. Thanks for the recipe!
I really can’t believe the average American consume 400+ extra calories form beverages in a day. Oh wait…yes I can!

Vodka soda with a splash of cranberry is my go-to drink if I’m drinking a mixed drink. It’s actually the only mixed drink that I will order.
Happy New Year’s Eve!

Yum! The drink sounds good.
My goal for today is eat as healthy and whole as possible as I can during the day. I will still eat healthy tonight but am not going to worry about the extra calories. I plan n having a glass of champagne as the ball drops.

There is something so comforting and easy about cereal for breakfast – although I love omelets too!
In the last few months, drinking anything has made me feel like garbage the next day – so I have really cut back! I would rather eat my calories.
