Hi everyone! I am Mary and I will be writing this post as a guest blogger while Missy is on vacation.
First I want to say that I have always been interested in health and weight loss so this is not a new subject for me. I have done years of research reading about diets and exercises that were going to make me thin but other than reading and obsessing I didn’t do much for my health. In January I set out to get healthy, not lose a certain amount of pounds, although weight loss would be nice it wasn’t my end goal. By changing the way I thought I was able to become in tune with my body. My mind wasn’t telling my body what it should be anymore. This time my body was telling my mind what it needed.
By listening to my body I finally admitted two things to myself that I really didn’t want to come to terms with:
- I needed to start exercising to maintain health and happiness
- I needed to give up gluten (All wheat and wheat products)
I have known for a while that I wasn’t supposed to be eating gluten but the thought of giving up bread, my favorite thing in the world, seemed too much to fathom. So I did the healthy thing and ignored what I was told and did what I pleased until I realized that all of the pain bread brought me wasn’t worth it. So I cut it out of my life like a bad friend. I thought giving up gluten would be impossible but it turns out it wasn’t that hard (mostly because I can still eat ice cream!!!!).
The rest of this blog is going to be reminiscent of Missy’s food pics because I figure if you read her blog you must like this style of blogging. This is a typical day for me:

For breakfast this morning I had Organic 0% Fat Greek yogurt with honey and I added some blackberries and raspberries. This is really a decadent way to start your day without a lot of calories or guilt! Missy has mentioned before the benefits of Greek yogurt as far as how much protein it packs but it is also a helper in reducing belly fat! So dig in!

I heated a plate of frozen edamame pods for lunch with 4 pieces of a salmon avocado roll. ( I ate the other 4 pieces the night before as midnight snack…lol)

After lunch I did my favorite workout tape! It is only thirty minutes and it works out your entire body. It is great for people who only have a short period of time or just want a quick workout. After every workout I have a couple of sips of Gatorade or pour myself a cup depending on how intense my workout was. I started doing this because I used to get headaches from working out. The Gatorade replenishes my electrolytes and the headaches vanish! Yay!

I generally have two to three snacks a day. Today it was a 100 calorie bag of popcorn and an apple. I try not to eat too many processed foods but this popcorn is fabulous and I refuse to give it up!

For dinner I had an omelet with two turkey sausage patties cut up and broccoli. Omelets are a delicious quick meal and I love them!

I saved the best for last! I love dessert and indulge in some form of it every day! Tonight I went to my favorite frozen yogurt place and got a cup of cake batter and vanilla yogurt, topped with M&Ms, rainbow sprinkles, and mini chocolate chips. You can put your own toppings on so as long as you don’t go overboard it’s a pretty low cal indulgence!
Thank you for reading and thanks Missy for the opportunity!
XOXO,
Mary
