Gojilicious Cookie Friday!

Yayyy! It is Friday!!!!!!!! I am obviously more excited than usual because I get off at 1:00 and it is a 3-day weekend! Wahoo!! I decided today would be the perfect day for a cookie review in honor of Tina’s “Cookie Fridays.” That is one holiday I will always participate in!

Last week, I received 4 bags of cookies from a company called Goji Gourmet.

About Goji Gourmet:

At Goji Gourmet, we love scrumptiously healthy organic foods and have super-charged our favorite family recipes with goji berries to create goji-licious guilt-free gourmet snacks. Goji Gourmet is committed to using Superfoods such as almonds, oats, oranges, ginger, honey, and walnuts to ensure that your sweet snacks still contribute to your overall well-being.

Our mission is to provide preservative-free (no icky chemicals!), low-sugar (we love antioxidant-packed buckwheat honey instead of refined sugar), low calorie and carbohydrate, nutrient-packed treats for you and your family to enjoy anytime of the day!

There were 4 types of wonderful sounding cookies:

  • Goji Ginger Walnut
  • Goji Cherry Cocoa
  • Goji Almond Oat
  • Goji Orange MintChip

Goji Gourmet Cookie Benefits:

  • No preservatives
  • All-natural
  • No refined sugar added
  • High in antioxidants
  • Delicious
  • Low calorie
  • Handmade
  • Infused with Superfoods
  • Energizing
  • Great for kids
  • Mostly organic ingredients

Being that I am a chocoholic, I tried the Goji Cherry Cocoa first.

A sweet bite of cherry coupled with an antioxidant boost of cacao creates a mouth-watering afternoon snack or late night delight!

All natural ingredients: Organic white whole wheat flour, organic goji berries, natural buckwheat honey, organic cacao powder, dried cherries (cherries, sugar, sunflower oil), organic butter, raw turbinado sugar, organic egg, raw wheat germ, cream of tartar, baking soda, cherry extract (water, propylene glycol, alcohol, natural flavors), organic vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric.

Nutritional Facts:

Serving Size 2 cookies:
Calories: 50
Calories from Fat: 15
Total Fat: 1.5g
Saturated Fat: 1g
Trans Fat: 0
Cholesterol : 5mg
Sodium: 70mg
Total Carbohydrates: 9g
Dietary Fiber: 1g
Sugars:4g
Protein: 1g
Vitamin A: 2%
Vitamin C: 8%
Iron: 2%

I love that 2 cookies are only 50 calories. I also like that I can pronounce every ingredient in the cookies! They were delicious!! I was expecting them to be hard and dry since they were packaged but they were soft and chewy like homemade cookies! They had a rich cocoa flavor with hints of cherry. Yum!

They made a wonderful topping to my soy ice cream!!

Next I tried the Goji Almond Oat.

Savor the lovely combination of almond and oat that is sweet and heart-healthy to comfort any craving!

All natural ingredients: Organic white whole wheat flour, organic goji berries, natural buckwheat honey, organic butter, raw turbinado sugar, organic mint 70% cacao dark chocolate (organic cocoa beans, organic sugar, organic cocoa butter, organic mint oil, organic vanilla), organic egg, raw wheat germ, natural orange zest, organic peppermint extract (organic alcohol, water, organic peppermint oil), organic orange extract (organic alcohol, water, organic orange oil), cream of tartar, baking soda, organic vanilla extract, salt, turmeric
All 4 of the cookies had similar nutrition facts so I won’t post them again. I really loved this flavor. They tasted like homemade buttery cookies but they really contain organic cocoa butter! They had a little crunch from the almonds and hint of fruit from the goji.

Also a wonderful topping to a banana split!! Just like cookie dough ice cream!!

2 nights in a row…

I tried the Goji Ginger Walnut next.

Spicy but sweet bits of ginger combined with omega-3 and antioxidant packed walnuts creates a delicious experience that is tough to beat!

All natural ingredients: Organic white whole wheat flour, organic goji berries, organic crystallized ginger (organic ginger, organic raw sugar), natural buckwheat honey, natural walnuts, organic butter, raw turbinado sugar, organic egg, raw wheat germ, organic vanilla extract, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, turmeric.

I was not sure how ginger would taste in a cookie but it was wonderful! If you are a fan of ginger, you will love these! The description from the website is right…slightly spicy but sweet at the same time. These were so addicting….and delicious in my Yoplait Delight Parfait!

Last but not least, Goji Orange MintChip!

Awaken your senses with a burst of citrus combined with a kick of mint cacao, delivering a refreshing cookie that will satisfy any craving!

All natural ingredients: Organic white whole wheat flour, organic goji berries, organic oats, natural buckwheat honey, natural almonds, organic butter, raw turbinado sugar, organic egg, raw wheat germ, organic almond extract (purified water, organic alcohol, glycerin, bitter almond oil), organic vanilla extract, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, turmeric.

These had a slight orange taste with little chocolate chips inside. I could not really taste the mint but they were still very enjoyable! I crushed them up last night in my Yoplait Delights Parfait with grapes!

These cookies are so fun and perfect for a nice, all natural, low calorie snack! They had such unique and interesting tastes so I never really felt the need to go overboard with them.

Some fun facts about goji berries (from the Goji Gourmet website):

  • Goji berries are nutrient-rich fruits that are high in antioxidants and provide vitamins A, C, and B-complex.
  • Goji berries are rich in iron, beta-carotene, selenium, germanium, and include 18 amino acids (a source of complete protein).
  • Goji berries also have compounds rich in vitamin A that may have antiaging benefits. These special compounds help boost immune function, protect vision, and may help prevent heart disease.
  • The Himalayan Goji fruit has long been nicknamed “the happy berry” because of the sense of well-being it is said to induce. Even modern consumers of the Goji berry often report feeling happier, calmer, and more content with their life,”
  • Goji berries have almost 8 times the value of antioxidants of pomegranates and more than 10 times the ORAC value of blueberries.

I am definitely a huge fan of these superfood cookies! Yum! If you are interested, you can purchase them here!

Okay, enough about cookies before I go search the entire office for some!! Let’s move on to Thursday’s eats!

For some reason I got ready really fast in the morning and had a half hour to spare. Back in the day I would have done the Shred. Now that I can’t stand to even look at the DVD, I walked into the kitchen instead!! I decided to make a protein shake to bring to work with me.

I found the You Shake mix from about 5 months ago as I was digging through my blog food drawer so I figured I should use it!

The shake turned out wonderful! Very banana-y (I am allowed to make up words on here).

I had even more time so I decided to make on omelet to bring to work!

Goat cheese and mushrooms, yummm. Does my omelet look like potatoes to you?? My coworker looked at me all funny and asked if I was eating potatoes out of a take-out container. No thank you!

This kept me full for about 2.5 hours so I dug into lunch pretty early.

PB &Co Cinnamon Raisin peanut butter with Crofters superfruit spread.

Along with Lesser Evil Sour Cream & Onion Krinkle Sticks on the side!

I had nothing to do during my lunch hour since I ate all early so I found myself wandering into Integral Yoga health food store. I came out with some goodies…

The apricots were on sale at least! I need to stop buying random things at lunch. I bring my own lunch every day to save money but then I end up buying fro-yo or Kombucha. Bad habit!

I went to the gym after work and did 25 minutes on the elliptical. I took Total Body Conditioning as well. It was a good one…to the point where my legs were burning like they do in Core Fusion! Yay!

I came home and used up the last of my Morningstar Farms crumbles. I added mushrooms, salsa, and goat cheese to the mix.

All over a salad with broccoli, hummus, and sweet potato chips!

Dessert was the grapes, Yoplait Delight, and Goji Gourmet cookie pciture above!

Today at 1:00 I am heading upstairs to get my hair cut and blown out so it can be all pretty for the weekend. I decided to try to wake up for the gym this morning since I was not going to go after work! I woke up at 2 am of course and could not fall back asleep. I probably had it in my head that I had to wake up early so I woke up super early!! I knew the solution to my insomnia…a snack.

Dave’s Killer Bread (sorry I had to take a bite before I snapped the pic), banana, and Mighty Maple peanut butter. This did the trick! I was annoyed that I had to wake up and eat but I was proud of myself for not eating 10 bowls of cereal.

Well the alarm went off at 6 and I was exhausted from being awake in the middle of the night. Gym=fail. Oh well! I should be getting plenty of exercise this weekend because I am going to the Electric Zoo festival=lots of dancing. It is all house music DJ’s like David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Armin Van Buuren, and about 50 others! Excited!  Should be a fun weekend!

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a good one!
