Gluten-Free Winner, New Snack Favs, Run Success!

Happy Friday! Wahoooo! Haha just a little excited over here. I don’t even have plans for the weekend but I am looking forward to some relaxation, sun, and maybe a few cocktails :) I think this post is going to be about a bunch of random but fun topics! Here it goes!

First things first…the Betty Crocker Gluten-Free Dessert Mix Winner!!

KATECOOKS!

MY NEW FAVORITE SNACKS!

A few days ago, I received a wonderful new product from…….

NavitasNaturals.com – Goji, Acai, Cacao, Maca… Superfoods!

Yeah, just wanted to use that cool banner. Anyway…I LOVE Navitas Naturals products! They sent me their goji berries, cocoa nibs, and acai power to try a while ago. They were the perfect snack and a great way to get some superfruits in my diet. This time they sent me trail mix!

This is not your ordinary trail mix people. This is TRAIL POWER!! (I think I had too much coffee this morning. ) I am typing like a psycho woman. This is what happens when you don’t drink coffee for a few months!

Back to Trail Power! Here is a little information about it from the press release:

Navitas Naturals, supplier of premium organic power foods, announces Trail Power™, a healthy line of certified organic snack mixes made with exotic raw organic berries and nuts that pack a power punch of antioxidants, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Offered in three varieties, Goji-Golden Berry-Mulberry, Goji-Cacao Nibs-Cashew, and Three Berry-Cacao Nibs-Cashew, Trail Power mixes contain 100% organic ingredients, are certified kosher, and are offered in 4, 8 and 16 oz. re-sealable bags for snacking, as well as 10 lb. bulk packages for retail bins, foodservice and adventure outfitters.

The mix they sent me was the 3 Berry-Cocoa Nib-Cashew.

Ingredients: Organic Goji Berries, Organic Mulberries, Organic Cocoa Nibs, Organic Goldenberries, Organic Raw Cashews

This stuff rocks! The mix of the berries with the cocoa and the cashews was the perfect combination! I think this was my first time eating mulberries and goldenberries! They are so good! I seriously could not stop pouring myself more and more!

The bag has 4 servings and each serving is 110 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 16 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein. I ate half the bag yesterday..ya know the deal. A great thing about it is the high iron (10%), Vitamin C (40%), and Vitamin A (30%) content! I am lacking in the iron department so I was very happy to discover that this has a good amount!

I will definitely be buying more of this once I run out (probably within the hour knowing me!) They sell nice big bags on Amazon if you are interested!

Favorite Snack #2!!

This is not just a peach. This is a DONUT PEACH! Has anyone tried one of these before?? I discovered this last Saturday in Atlantic City. The beach party I went to had a bunch of them in a bowl. I tried one and was amazed at how much better it was than a regular peach!

First of all, I love that it really does look like a donut!!! Yeah, the stupidest things amuse me. Second, it is so sweet! Like 10 times sweeter than a regular peach. It was so refreshing on a hot beach day!

Of course the little market that I go to by my subway stop has had them all along but I never noticed them before! I bought 5 and have been eating one every day! Yummy!

GREAT WORKOUT!

I told you this post was going to be random but hey, it keeps things exciting. After work, I had plans to take Total Body Conditioning. My train was nice and fast so I had time to do 38 minutes on the elliptical before the class started. I did intervals at level 6 and level 11 so I got a nice little workout.

Class started at 7:30 and was a great one. It was my favorite (hot) teacher so it always helps to have someone nice to look at. Yeah…it also helped that he worked us very hard! We did lots of planks, push-ups, abs, squats, lunges, everything! I was drenched after 45 minutes in his class!

Normally I go home after that because it is 8:30 and I am starving for dinner. Yesterday I was not hungry yet for some reason (probably from eating a peach, half a bag of trail mix, and dark chocolate after lunch?) I don’t know but I decided to walk on the treadmill for a little while since I was so energized from the class.

A little while turned into 40 minutes! Guess what….I RAN FOR 30 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!! I know this is a piece of cake for many of you reading this but I have been trying to do this for months now! I always end up getting a cramp and stopping! My legs got very tired after 20 minutes but I had no cramp so I just kept going and going and made sure I reached 3 miles! Wahoo! Now I just need to try this outside!

I got home around 9:15 very ready for some food after that crazy gym session! I decided to make a protein shake since I did all that weight lifting and running.

I used Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl protein powder, a banana, and almond milk.

It came out like a Peanut Butter, Banana Milk Shake! So much better than just mixing it with water!

I had a little bit of lunch meat left to use up too so I made a wrap:

I decided to just make half of one since there was only a little bit of lunch meat and I wanted to save room for cookies! I had a few Mary’s Gone Crackers on the side too for some crunch.

I was very full after that and totally did not need dessert but I can’t walk by the cookies without taking some!

I probably should not have eaten cookies and fruit at 10:30 at night because I had some serious sleeping issues last night! It took me forever to fall asleep! I think at 1 am I was still up. I then woke up at 4 AM and tossed and turned for an hour. Finally I gave in at 5 AM and got a snack! I had a Chobani with some granola. I fell back asleep right after. Why does food have to be the solution to my insomnia? Blah! At least I did not go overboard this time.

Hmm, well at least today is “4:00 Fridays!” Oh yeah! At 4:00 I plan on going to DSW to get some heels for my sister’s wedding. Then I have to pick up my bridesmaid dress from her to so I can get it altered this weekend! I’ll probably take a rest day from the gym but hope to do some walking outside since it is perfect out. I may just lay in my backyard and do some reading! Look what I got yesterday :)

I had every intention of just getting In Defense of Food but I gave in to Amazon’s little marketing tactic and bought the recommended 3-pack!

They were free since I had gift certificates for taking online surveys so it was fine with me to buy all of them! I am excited to read the End of Overeating since that is probably my main issue these days. I eat mostly healthy but eat too much of everything! I just love food too much! I will do reviews after each book!

So this weekend should involve some reading, laying out, and maybe an outdoor run? What are you doing?? Hope it is a good one!

Wow! What a marathon gym session — congrats on your 30 minute run! I read "The End of Overeating" and liked it, although it doesn't really provide tips, if that's what you're looking for, more like an overview of the problem, but still a good read.
    Have an awesome weekend!

Can I borrow Omnivore's Dilemma? I stupidly threw out my copy before reading it and don't want to buy another!

What a hardcore workout! I would have been dead. Let's run outside together one morning. It works best on an empty stomach.

The Navitas Natural products sound delicious!
I've seen donut peaches before but never tried them because for some reason I thought they wouldn't be sweet, but I guess I was wrong – def. picking some up.

What kind of online surveys do you take – I'd really like to know.
"In defense of food" is a really great read by the way.

BOO, I missed the giveaway this week because I was MIA but would have totally loved to win. Last week, I was at the grocery store and had the gluten-free betty crocker cake mix in my cart and put it back at the last minute. I so wish I should have gotten it!
