I had a very busy but fun weekend! Too bad it is Monday already! I will recap back to Friday night!
After work, I went to Melanie’s apartment with Dori to have dinner and a movie night. We watched Hollywood Hills 90028. Bethenny Frankel stars in it back when she was around 23. The movie was so old fashioned and weird. We really thought the movie was a joke it was so dumb. They showed Bethenny’s boobs so we spent the whole night trying to decide whether she had implants or not. It looks like she did after seeing all of the research Dori did the next day!
Anyway, enough about boobies and back to food! We ordered from a Japanese place near Melanie’s apartment called Aja Asian Bistro. I started with Miso soup!
I also got a salad with delicious ginger dressing.
I got a Rainbow Roll too!
Everything was delicious!
We also had a Holey Donuts party for dessert!!
We shared everything. It was all amazing of course! It was so great to hang out with Melanie and Dori because it has been so long! We actually met in Israel almost 2 years ago! Dori explained how we met here! We used to go out all the time but we are all so busy now! It was great to catch up with them again!!
Melanie also sent Dori and I home with some goodie bags!
I know I have plenty of snacks in my apartment but I chose 3 things that companies never sent me! I am excited to try them!!
I got home and had a few packages waiting for me!
The first was 2 chocolate bars from Shaman Chocolates!
They are Organic Dark Chocolate with Green Tea & Ginger and Acai, Lemon, and Orange! I am very curious to try these flavors! All profits from the sale of Shaman Chocolates help support Huichol villages in Central Mexico allowing them to kept their ancient traditions alive and ensuring their economic survival. Eating chocolate for a good cause sounds perfect to me!
The next package was from Tierra Farm Organic Nuts & Dried Fruits!
- Agave Ginger Cashews
- Cajun Cashews
- Date Coconut Rolls
- Dried Apricots
- Dried Cranberries
- Dried Mango
- Dried Prunes
- Garam Masala Cashew
- Jumbo Flame Raisins
- Maples Glazed Almonds
My pretty tower fell on me right after the picture! Very excited to try this all!!
The last package was from Rudi’s Organic Bakery.
Perfect timing because I just ran out of bread!! The package included:
- 7 Grain and Flax
- 100% Whole Wheat
- Multigrain Oat
- Multigrain Bagel
- Cinnamon Raisin Bagel
I woke up Saturday and had to try the Cinnamon Raisin Bagel!
I brought out some Barney Butter and Bauman’s Blueberry Butter to top it with!
I had a banana on the side.
The bagel was delicious!! It is whole wheat and only 150 calories, 1 gram of fat, 32 grams of carbs, 3 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of protein! So great for a bagel!!
This was the perfect breakfast before I went to Self Workout in the Park!!! I met Melanie and we went to Central Park around 10. Registration was supposed to be at 9 so we tried to get there early. We ended up standing in line till 11. It was pretty boring standing in one spot for an hour but it increased our chances of getting a spot in the yoga and rebounding classes.
Once they let us in, we signed up right away for the classes. There were tons of people there! They had a huge stage set up and tons of sample booths. They also gave us cute bags when we walked in!
The first class we did was called Latin Rhythms: Burn up the dance floor while you torch more calories. Feel the heat with moves from the mambo, cha cha, merengue, and samba.
So fun dancing with hundreds of women in the middle of the park!
Next we did Urban Rebounding: Easy to follow, fun, non-impact cardiovascular workout using mini trampolines.
Rebounding was a great workout! We did kicks, jumps, squats, and more while bouncing up and down!
Next we did Cardio Tai Box: A cardiovascular workout with great music and no complicated choreography to get your heart racing and kick your butt.
I loved this since it was so similar to my usual Kickboxing classes!
Next was a 20 minute class called Movieography: Break out your sweatbands for moves from the most dance-tastic movies of the 80′s: Footloose, Flashdance, Dirty Dancing, and more. Leg warmers and big hair are optional.
This was like being at a Broadway show! The instructor was dressed up in an 80′s costume and had amazing dancers behind her!
The next class we did was Beach Body: The countdown to summer starts here. It’s a total body workout to get you ready for the sand and surf.
This one was really hard!! We did so many squats, lunges, and push ups! I was drenched!!!
We did Prana Power Yoga next! A yoga double whammy, this class combines the flow of Vinyasa with the power of Kundalini for a mind-body experience that’s unlike any other.
We picked this yoga because I knew I liked Vinyasa from trying a class a few weeks ago! It was only 25 minutes this time but great!! It was so nice being in the middle of the woods with birds chirping while stretching and relaxing!
After yoga, we joined in for the last 10 minutes of Millian Dollar Knockout: Fight Club isn’t just for men anymore. This class uses traditional boxing principals and training targeted specifically for and taught by women.
Next they chose about 10 people to win prizes. They gave away a year membership to Crunch, an iPod touch, etc. Out of the hundreds of people there, Melanie won something!! She won a $50.00 gift card for EAS products. The iPod would have been better but still exciting to hear her name called!!
The day ended with Masala Bhangra: a traditional Indian dance workout set to hip-hop, disco, salsa, techno, house, and rap music.
This one was amazing. The teacher was such a great dancer! She taught us a whole routine to 4 different songs. It was a great way to end the day!
All of the workouts were great! I burned 1023 calories by the end!! It was nonstop moving from 11 to 3! I got tons of samples too!
I was exhausted after the workout but decided to go home to Philly right after for Mother’s Day. I was famished so I snacked on a bag of Medora Snacks Corners.
They were stale and I realized they expired in February! I better start eating my old snacks more!
My mom picked me up from the train station and we went to a crab restaurant called Benny the Bums.
I got a Mai Tai and a salad with grilled shrimp and crab meat. I also snacked on a bunch of these addicting ball things!
They had an 80′s radio station there with a dance floor. My mom wanted to dance so bad so I did 2 songs with her. It was a lot of fun. She wants me to move back to Philly so bad. She said she wishes she could go out with me more and hopes I leave New York one day. It won’t be happening anytime soon!
Sunday I went to the gym with my mom. She basically acted like my personal trainer! It was her biceps day so she showed me so may different exercises. We did a few machines and weights. She used 25 pound dumbbells! I usually use 5 or 8 pounds but she made me use 10! It was so hard but she yelled at me like a real personal trainer so I suffered through it!
We also did this ab routine that she has been doing for years. It is to a 12 minute song and is non stop exercises! I wanted to stop so bad in the middle but she pushed me through it. My abs and arms were so sore all day!
We decided to walk in the park after for some cardio. We walked 4 miles! It was up and down all these hills so it was a great workout! Much more interesting than the treadmill!
By the way, my cat likes to exercise too!
So great!!
We went to Whole Foods and Target after to buy some food. My whole family came over for Mother’s Day. We are not like other families who cook and barbecue. We order Chinese food! I got Wonton Soup and Steamed Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables!
My aunt is vegan so she made this amazing “cheese” dip. She also made vegan key lime pie and banana bread! Delicious!
I love going home because I always manage to come back with some amazing goodies!
Things kept “appearing” in my mom’s cart at Whole Foods. So fun!
I took the train back to New York after dinner and got back to my apartment around 10. I snacked on some fruit, pudding, and alcohol
Fun weekend!!
This morning I made Archer Farms Blueberry Almond Oatmeal with a banana and Barney Butter!
I did 35 minutes on the elliptical at lunch!
Now I am back at my desk eating a turkey and ham wrap
It has turkey, ham, American cheese, hummus, lettuce, and cucumbers.
With some Mr. Krispers Nacho Chips on the side!
It has been a crazy day at the office. People are getting layed off so I have been all over the place! Luckily my boss told me I am safe. It is still scary seeing so many people leaving and crying! It might mean more work for me so I guess that is a good thing!
Tonight Dori and I are trying another new class called Cardio GyroKinesis! I will review it tomorrow!
Have a good day!

This post is so full of awesome stuff! That workout in the park sounds amazing. Jillian Michaels talks about the Newman’s Own pb cups and I want to try them.
Your mom sounds intense but cute at the same time. My mom is definitely a hardcore fitness person too. She thinks I’m a wimp bc I never use weights, or I just use water bottles. I guess once you get to be 40+ using weights is good for your bones though.
Yay for keeping your job! So many layoffs recently.

Marketing yourself is vital to increase your training hours and drum up new business, but it’s not always easy. Having good qualifications, insurance and a solid training background is a fantastic start to positively promoting yourself, but further marketing can sometimes cost money as well as time, so you will need to look at your budget as well as what you want to achieve.
