Food Deal Alert!
In case you have not heard, Jamba Juice oatmeal is only $1.00 until December 11th! Here is a link to the coupon: Oatmeal For a Buck.
Last year, they had the same promotion and I made it there every morning! They have delicious steal-cut oats that come in 4 flavors: fresh banana, blueberry/blackberry, apple cinnamon, and berry cherry pecan. Today I decided to get the apple cinnamon.

Yum! It is just like eating apple pie for breakfast! They top it with brown sugar which gives it a nice sweet crunch. I hope to go each day this week! It is a great deal and also forces me to walk an extra 10 blocks in the morning. It is a win/win situation (besides the freezing weather!) I had some coffee to warm me up a bit!

Workout
Yesterday I attempted to wake up before work for the gym. I knew I had plans after work and wanted to start the week off with a nice workout. Unfortunately I had crazy insomnia and was up from 2:00 in the morning to around 4:30! Morning gym=fail!
I decided to bring my gym clothes anyway and go at lunch! I rushed there, did 30 minutes on the elliptical, and burned 250 calories. It was a nice little mid-day workout! I used to do it more often but my lunch was an hour earlier at the time. Now I get way too starving by 1:00! It is always nice to have the option at least if I have plans after work.
Lunch!
After the gym, I rushed into the health food store and grabbed a quick sandwich. I got a Vegetarian Turkey sandwich and Riceworks chips.
I love the power sandwiches they have at the health food store. This one was only 140 calories and had cabbage, soy turkey, and vegan mayo.

I had a Z-Bar later in the afternoon as usual!

Night Work!
My dad sells Jerry Garcia artwork for a living. He happened to be working a Relix show in New York last night so he said I could help him out. There was some sort of eclectic show going on with a few local bands.
This is what my dad’s gallery looked like:

(The guy in the flannel is my dad). I tried to help sell artwork even though I don’t know much about the Grateful Dead! They were giving out free drinks so I basically got to walk around and drink the whole time!

I made a little extra cash which is nice since my vet pretty much put me in the poor house! I stayed till around 11:30 and then took a cab home. I didn’t feel too hungry for dinner while I was there for some reason. Maybe because I had 2 dark beers along with the 2 vodka drinks above! As soon as I got home, I felt famished!! I had absolutely nothing in the apartment except for 6 packages of Applegate Farms hot dogs! I quickly boiled one, topped it over a salad, and had some pita chips on the side.

Lovely midnight dinner! I must go to the grocery store tonight!
1) Do you meal plan for the week?
2) How often do you go grocery shopping. Do you make one big trip or several small ones?
1) I don’t meal plan but I really should! I know it saves people a ton of money!
2) I used to make one big trip a week. I moved and now the grocery store is very inconvenient! I find myself stopping at the health food store right at my subway stop a few times a week. I only get a few things but I know it adds up. I should stop being lazy haha.
I am off to go do some work! Have a nice day!

I really wish we had a Jumba Juice here.
I usually meal plan every week. Definitely up until dinner. I make a big trip on the weekends, but it never fails that I have to go once or twice a week!

i try to meal plan as much as I can. I usually have to do one big trip but can do some little ones during the week if I have to. I hear ya though! Its hard planning the gym sometimes. I have a hard time getting to sleep too so the morning workouts were getting kind of tiring for me. So Im trying to go after work for a bit and see if that works. Good luck to ya!!

I meal plan each week, and it has saved me lots! I do one big trip a week (usually to Trader Joes, just because they seem the cheapest here in the city for what I usually buy).

I meal plan. I think it’s fun and I look forward to cooking my yummy meals.
I do about two big shops per week. I love the grocery store!

I meal plan. I like coming up with new meal ideas, and it helps me to know exactly what I’m having and when so I don’t scrounge around for food.
I do one big shop a week ans dread it more and more every time I go! I used to love food shopping so I don’t know what happened!

I meal plan because if I don’t I end up going out to eat way more than I should – and I can’t afford it! I have been doing grocery shopping once a week but I’m thinking of going twice now because sometimes fruit and veggies will go bad before the end of the week.

1) I definately meal plan – it totally saves money and allows you to use up items that might otherwise go to waste or go bad – I hate wasting food! Kills me to buy $3 worth of cilantro for one dish, so when i know i need to buy it, i plan 2 dishes for the cilantro
2) I just started shopping every TWO weeks in an effor to save money. During the “off” week I just try to pick up eggs/milk/cereal to get us through to the big haul. Seems to be working for now!
3) if you have a wordpress account you can see my blog if I add your user ID name to my allowed list – my blog is set to private except for a select wordpress users

ive tried planning my meals but it never works out because usually my cravings hit THAT day, so in the morning I may know what I want for dinner that night! I always have the same breakfast and lunch is usually a wrap or sammie of somesort, but I try to get creative with dinner!
I hit up the grocery store min of 2 times a week! I love the place, I would much rather go in small spurts then ONE huge shop becuase I know I always end up going back!
thanks for the coupon to jamba juice! I wish there was one closer to meeee

I am the same way! I never know what I want for dinner until right before!

I really want to start meal planning. Somehow it never happens. So my husband does a big shopping trip usually every other week and then I end up stopping someplace on my way home 2-3 times a week to get the missing ingredients. It’s not the most efficient method. Meal planning might just make it on my resolution list!

I love those veggie sammies! They are so wonderfully convenient too!
I acutally make a an effort to replenish what I use the most of. I try to menu plan but cooking for one is tough! I usually stock up on my faves and plan one day ahead. I live about 8 blocks away from the NICE supermarket and the crappy one just never has anything! I shop FreshDirect.com
I get free shipping when i look for codes and the freshest groceries sent right to my door!!! and cheaper than health food stores! I get local milk, eggs, and veggies including some free range meats!
Sorryfor the novel but i really love fresh direct!

I didn’t know your dad has such a neat job!! Actually, my ex bf form high school just moved to Colorado to help someone sell artwork at different shows in that state. He’s a big hippy, so it’s perfect for him.
Thanks for letting us know about the 1 dollar Jamba Juice oatmeal! I didn’t even know they sold oatmea.
I don’t really plan meals, I just throw things together really. I always have veggies, rice, beans, and meat prepared from Sunday night, so I guess that is “meal planning” in a way! I go to multiple stores, about twice per week. I can never find all I need at one store!

Yay for those sandwiches! Have you seen the hot and spicy one that has pumpkin? So freaking delish.
I plan my meals otherwise I end up eating the same stuff all the time. Grocery shopping- I end up picking up a couple of things almost every day…fruit, yogurts, etc. I do one huge shop every 6-8 weeks online for stuff that is a pain to carry home without a car (I live miles away from a big grocery store)- toilet paper, cleaning stuff, etc.

Never saw one with pumpkin!! I will now be on a search!

Don’t hot dogs taste a million times better after a drink?! I think so.
I go to the grocery once a week, sometimes two if I have to get small things that I eat a crap ton of (um…bananas). I definitely meal plan, too – only because I’m not a great cook (like, at all) and need a plan!

Yes they do! Except I was really craving bread or a hot dog roll and had absolutely none in the house! That’s what the pita chips were for haha…had to get those carbs in!

I make a menu each week than build a shopping list based upon the menu. We go shopping as a family on Saturday/Sunday depending on our schedule. No matter how well I plan I always forget something and have to go back in the middle of the week.

Yum to the apple pie for breakfast! What a great bowl of oats! Free drinks? Woohoo
I don’t plan and I got quite a few times a week because I eat a lot of fresh produce.

The apple/cinnamon oatmeal sounds delicious! And a good deal!
I started planning meals about six months ago. Before then, dinner time was chaos… I really like planning meals, and it has helped me save money. I have found that going to the grocery store once a week helps me save the most money. But I much more enjoy going to little stores and different Farmers’ Markets throughout the week (when I have time).

Your dad sells Jerry Garcia artwork for a living? That’s so cool! I am secretly a hippie. Or really not so secretly.
No Jamba Juice in Atlanta. Boo.
As for the questions, I try to meal plan, but I get thrown off a lot. And I probably go to the grocery store for one big trip a week and then for some smaller things that I want (i.e soda, ice cream).

No meal planning for me…I keep telling myself to start that.

I try to meal plan for the week but sometimes, I just want to go for it…live a little on the edge. lmao. oh, walking and drinking…envious. yeah, my gym attempts in the morning have been lacking. I think i need to take a class to motivate myself in the morning, during work week.
