Family Scare and Fabulous Food

Yesterday was a pretty rough day for me. My mom called my work right before I was about to leave and told me my grandmom just got in an accident and totalled her car. She was changing lanes, hit a bus, lost control, and hit another car.

They rushed her to the emergency room. Her lung collapsed and she broke a bone in her back. She is doing okay now; just in a lot of pain. She is 82 years old and very lucky to be alive. It was pretty scary but I am so happy she is doing okay.

On to food…

On Saturday, I received 3 samples of Protein Powder from Jay Robb.

I decided to try the Vanilla Egg White Protein for breakfast.

It was good but did not fill me up since I went to spin class right before. I had a Better Whey of Life yogurt and some trail mix with it.

I forgot just how bitter that yogurt was. I really could not eat it plain so I decided to mix it in my drink.

Much better. It made the shake thicker too which I liked since I only used water.

I was hungry about an hour later again (morning spin has that affect), so I had an Amazing Grass Energy bar.

The bar finally did the trick!

During lunch, I just walked around outside because spin was too intense to go to the gym again! I brought a sandwich with Lightlife Smart Deli Bologna and American Cheese.

I had Michael Season’s Honey Chipotle chips on the side.

I needed something sweet after so I had Tierra Farm Dried Mango Slices.

These were delicious! I almost ate the whole container! Luckily I saved a few for today!

I also snacked on Dark Chocolate Espresso Beans from Whole Foods. They really did wake me up a lot! I probably had about 3 times what you see there. Oops.

I had to stay at work till 7:00 because I am making up time from a Friday that they told me I could have off. Long story but I have to take half hour lunches and stay an hour late 2 more times this week if I want to get paid. Not fun.

I was all stressed out about my grandmom when I got home so boyfriend made me dinner :)

We started with nice big salads.

He also made whole wheat pasta with mushrooms and red peppers.

I had a nice Vodka and Crystal Light too of course. The pasta was delicious!

We started to watch Transporter but it was so boring so we ate pudding and watched CSI instead!

This morning I woke up at 6:00 am and went to the gym. I started out on the treadmill but my knee started to hurt so I got right off. I moved to an elliptical but I was so bored so I stopped after 10 minutes. It was one of those older ellipticals so I felt like I wasn’t working hard.

The good thing about going to the gym in the morning is that I don’t really have the option to just give up and leave. I still had 45 minutes before I needed to shower. I decided to try the Arc Trainer. I set it on the resistance mode. It was pretty hard but a great workout. After 35 minutes, I was drenched! I decided to spend the last couple of minutes relaxing in the steam room.

It is a lot easier for me to spin in the morning because I need that motivation when I am half asleep! I’m still glad I went today though since I have to stay late at work again. I definitely won’t feel like going at 8:00 at night!

6 more hours of work to go! Have a good day!

RuntoFinish: I tried both vanilla powders so far and wasn't thrilled. They are good at first but then the taste gets kind of yucky! I am trying the chocolate tomorrow so we'll see!
