Elliptical at Lunch

I went to the gym during my lunch hour. It was soo cold outside but it felt great to get some cardio in midday since I sit on my butt for 8 hours.

I did 33 minutes on the interval setting. I did 2 minutes at level 2 and 2 minutes at level 8. I burned 192 calories in 33 minutes. I did not work as hard as normal because my legs are so sore when I get up and walk. I think it is from my Total Body Conditioning class on Tuesday because we did tons of squats and lunges. I am always extra sore 2 days later.

I will be taking the same class again tonight but with a different teacher. It is 45 minutes instead of 55 minutes on Thursdays so it should not be as hard. I am excited to see how many calories I burn in the class today! I may have to do lighter weights though since I am still sore.

When I got back to work at 1, I had my sandwich that I brought from home.

It was tuna, goat cheese, cucumbers and hummus on Arnold’s Sandwich Thins.

Goat cheese and tuna might be my new favorite combo!! It was so delicious getting hints of the goat cheese in every bite. The hummus was also a great substitute to mix in the tuna instead of mayo!

Of course I had a bag of Popchips with my sandwich!

I was craving chocolate after since my mouth had a tuna taste in it so I had half a Cocoavia and a cup of Ginger Peach Green Tea.

Perfect lunch!

I wanted to mention that I am a member of Sparkpeople. I do not log my calories or anything on the site but I do receive a few of their daily newsletters. There are some really good tips in them. Today’s newsletter had my horoscope in there. I do not really believe in astrology but always horoscopes for entertainment purposes. Today’s related to me so much that I had to post it:

Gemini: May 22 – June 23

As a Gemini, you put a lot of value into careful thinking. Unfortunately, this means you have a hard time shutting off your thoughts and relaxing. The next time you’re mind is racing, slow down with a yoga class. If you’re not seeing the fitness results you’d like, satisfy your analytical side by keeping a fitness journal to assess your exercise habits. Log your workouts on a calendar to see how much exercise you’re getting. Fewer than three sessions a week means you need to take action. You’re interested in so many things, so it won’t be hard to find a new sport or activity to shake out the doldrums.

I seriously have an incredibly hard time shutting off my thoughts! This is why I can’t sleep at night unless I take some melatonin. My mind is always racing. It is funny that they mention trying a Yoga class too because my work is actually offering a free class on Tuesday. I was thinking about trying it out since normally they charge $15 per class! I have tried Yoga once before but I did not have the patience and got really bored. I think this would be a good opportunity to give it another chance. They also suggested keeping a fitness journal! I consider my blog a fitness journal so I have that covered!

I have never read a horoscope so on point before. Pretty interesting to me. I would definitely recommend signing up for the Sparkpeople newsletters. I am always learning tons of nutritional and fitness tips every day from them.

Okay, I am off! I will keep everyone posted on my workout later.

I am a Gemini, too…AND seriously dependent on Melatonin! I feel silly for not reading the bottle…but did you realize they say you’re supposed to take one week “off” every 2 months from taking it? hmmmm. But I do swear by it.

I really need to look into yoga. It’s something I’ve been saying for SO long, I just need to be proactive about it. :-)

I never heard about the 1 week off rule!! Oops! Well I only take a half of one so maybe that helps? I also do not take them when I drink a lot, except for last night :) I know it is bad that I either need alcohol or melatonin to sleep but it is better than having insomnia!!

If I do the yoga, I will let you know how it is! I tried Pilates and liked it a lot more but I will give yoga one more chance!
