It has not been a good night! I picked up my bridesmaid dress from the tailor today and tried it on when I got home. The tailor did not offer to have me try it on in the store and I was on my way to Core Fusion. I figured the dress would fit fine so I waited.
I tried putting it on and it would not zip up. I hate to admit this but I was even wearing Spanx to suck my tummy in. It would still not zipper no matter how hard I tried. I started hysterically crying for hours. The dress was so tight that it made my stomach look like it was bulging out. It is also uneven on the bottom and is much shorter than it is supposed to be.
I called my sister crying and she told me to find out what time the tailor opens back up in the morning. I could not find times online and the store is closed so going back is out of the question. My sister also called one of the bridesmaids but she got it done in Long Island and it does not open early enough.
I tried zippering the dress again..did not work. I called my mom freaking out crying and she felt really bad. She told me to go to Macy’s and buy a whole new dress. I told her I would feel like an idiot wearing a completely different dress from the other bridesmaids. She then called my sister freaking out about what I should do.
Finally my roommate came home and she tried to zipper it. It would not zipper until I took my bra off. Sorry is this is too much information! I now pretty much can’t breathe in it but it will have to do. My roommate also had to convince me that my stomach does not look as big as I think. Yes, I am probably psycho and over exaggerate but I do not feel good in it at all. I may wake up really early and take it to my sister’s tailor to see if they can at least fix the bottom. We’ll see. I now have a splitting headache and can’t see straight from crying! Blah sorry to be a downer.
Onto today’s eats:
I made an omelet this morning and brought it to work.
There was melted Laughing Cow in the middle. Yummy.
I treated myself to some lunch out since it was Friday and I pretty much bring it every day of my life. I went to the Westside Market and got the best salad ever!
Spinach with shrimp, avocado, edamame salad, and goat cheese!

missy! dress fittings suck. I am in my bro's wedding this september and for some reason my dress is a bit snug in the bust…yeah my boobs decided to get a bit bigger (probs all my training?) I understand the "fat" feeling when a dress is like tight or awkward in places. But all bridesmaid dresses are kinda like that. I am sure you look beautiful no matter what
no bridesmaid should ever love their dress or be head over heels in love with the fit LOL (go rent 27 dresses! It will make you feel better!). Remember to just dance the night away and have a blast!

I'm sorry about the dress fitting! It's fine though, you're healthy and that's all that matters.

everything will be fine – just breathe
those experiences are never fun, though.
i hope this weekend is awesome!

I am so sorry to hear how upseting the whole dress situation is. Try to enjoy yourself at the wedding. Believe me, you are tiny, and I am not just saying that, so you could lot possibly look anything less than amazing, no matter how tight the dress.
PS love westside market!

ah missy, i'm sorry about the dress situation! i'll be thinking of you this morning, hoping all is going well!!!

Oh no… Well I guess next time you'll go to the more expensive tailor, huh. Guess there is a reason this one was cheaper. Sigh.
It will work out. This 8am tailor will fix it — don't worry. You will look beautiful!

Ughh that sucks! That happened to me once and the tailor told me I'd gotten fat. Yep. Anyway, he did fix his mess, so hopefully your dress will work out.
Also, no shame in spanx.

Oh my gosh…I'm so sorry you had to go through that!! I think we've all been there, for sure. I was in a friend's wedding and my dress was WAY tight – like, I could hardly breathe! Of course I still drank my beer (which was slightly uncomfortable) but I don't think anyone noticed at all. You are going to be STUNNING, and I'm with Heather…ain't no shame in Spanx!
Have an AWESOME time this weekend!

Hi Missy. AHHH you out of all people shouldn't have to be so upset!!
i'm so sorry to hear about what had happened, but don't let the dress dictate how you feel about yourself or your body. It sounds like it is DEFINITELY the tailor's fault, (and this kind of stuff happens all the time!) so don't let it get you down. It will be an awesome wedding, your sister and mom will be AOK, so all you have to do is work on bringing your own spirits back up girl. I'm POSITIVE the dress will look amazing you on. Abs. positive!!! YOu betcha I'll be waiting for some stunning pictures.

I worked in a bridal shop for a few years and we never let people leave without putting in on…largely because those dress sizes are totally different than every day clothing, which SUCKS!!! If you got it zipped late at night, you'll be good on wedding day. deep breath..and yes you have every right to freak out and call your mom…your sis just happens to be a little psycho wedding crazy at the moment

Oh no! I am sure it will end up being fine. Weddings/family events always end up causing so much unnecessary stress. Have fun, and just relax!

Hope everything works out with the dress! I would be stressed and crying, too. Sounds like it was definitely a tailor issue, so you should not feel bad at all!

I'm so sorry you had to deal with all the stress.I hope it worked out. Thanks for posting the dancing kitties Friday. It helped me get through the rest of the day:-)

Oh you poor thing! It sounds like it's the tailor's fault–they should have had you try it on at the store! You're not fat at all–it's the dress, not you! I hope everything goes well with the new tailor.

omg missy, im soooo sorry for that horrible (mis)fitting appt. yuck. i hope you have had time now to do some deep breathing. isnt blogging so useful for venting sometimes? im really sorry your momz and sis werent very understanding. we all have those days though where NOthing fits and we feel blah (im having an entire weekend of it). at least the sabra was there to keep your tummy happy. xxx!!

Oh no! Sorry you had such an awful dress experience! I hear alot of horror stories about tailoring and wedding/bridesmaid dresses…Obviously they did not make sure to fit it to your body…something went wrong along the way! Hopefully it all worked out!
[Reply]
I had that happen – the dress was too long and it was way too tight.
Lucikly my Mom was a seamstress in her early life, and was able to fix it – THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING!
And you should be able to call your Momma whenever you want – that's why we are Mommas!

aw sorry about the dress.if you can zip it up you might be suprised- maybe you are just bloated, or drank too much carbonation, or something. bridesmaids dresses are ugly anyway so youll never have to wear it again, lol

Sorry to hear about your nightmare…I really do hope that everything worked out in the end with your dress and you had an awesome weekend!

Missy – just a quick question for you. When reading the nutritional information on things like cake/cookie/muffin mixes, the information tends to be ONLY for the mix itself (i.e. it will say something like "for 1/4 of the package, or for 28 grams of mix"). It typically DOES NOT include the calories/fat/etc. from the ingredients you need to add, like milk/eggs/margarine. Not sure if this is the case with the brownies or cookies, but I'm pretty sure it is. While using a heatlhy alternative to butter & using egg white instead of whole eggs does save you calories and fat, you are, in fact, adding additional items to the original packaged mix and you therefore need to add the nutritional information of those items.

Oh no! I totally feel for you about the dress fitting. When I first tried on the dress for my sister's wedding (I was maid of honor) I said I wasn't going to wear it because I thought my stomach was showing and I looked lumpy. But then I bought a piece of miracle clothing – a bustier. It's kind of like a strapless bra/corset all in one and cinches you in and gives you a perfect hourglass shape. It cost $110 but it was well worth it. I wouldn't have worn the dress without it. I'm wearing it under the orange dress in my pics under my story. So I definitely recommend it!!
