Day Off
By MissyMaintains, on January 29th, 2009
Yes, I took a nice day off of work today! I’ll start from last night. I decided to take the entire day off of the gym yesterday because I was so tired and think it is just what I needed. I got home at 7 and got right in bed. Of course I could not fall asleep so I just watched Lost and relaxed in bed.
I had a few packages waiting for me when I came home!
The first envelope contained 2 Baskin Robins coupons. They sent this to me as an apology for not giving me free ice cream on free scoop day 2 weeks ago!! Now I can go get my free scoop which is nice!
The second package contained one of these babies:
I have tried these a few times before. They are very yummy!
The 3rd package contained Kardea bars from the wonderful Rob over at Kardea Nutrition. He saw that I enjoyed GNU bars and thought I might like these as well!
The flavors were Banana Nut, Cranberry Almond, Lemon Ginger, and Chai Spice. They contain 7 grams of fiber, 7 grams of protein, and 1 gram of Plant Sterols.
Right away I had to try one of the bars! I pulled out the Banana Nut bar to try.
It looked like it was going to be yummy! The first bite I liked a lot but then as I ate more and more, I decided it had a really bad taste to it. It really did taste like plants! It left a really bad aftertaste in my mouth all night too. I would not buy this again but I will still give the other flavors a try!
An hour later I was hungry still so I got out some peanut butter and an Arnold’s Sandwich Thin.
I should have spread the peanut butter on the bread but instead I dipped chunks into the container. I ended up eating tons of peanut butter but it was so delicious! I also had a few Gerber Freeze Dried Apples for dessert.
My friend ended up coming over at 9 to watch Lost with me. I did not end up going to bed till 3 am! I woke up this morning at 7 sooo tired. I had such a headache and knew I would not last at work for 9 hours. I decided to take the day off and catch up on some sleep.
I really needed it because I ended up sleeping till 1 in the afternoon! I don’t know why I’ve been so sleepy!
Around 9 am, we woke up and split an Honest Foods bar!
This flavor was delicious! It was really like eating a peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips and nuts in the middle! Nice morning snack!
We finally got out of bed at 1:30 and I went to get the mail. I got another fun envelope!
Erin from Popchips sent me tons of $1.00 off coupons since I am almost out of my case! So nice! This is also a little preview as to what is coming for next week’s contest! More details soon!
Around 2 we decided to make some lunch. A turkey wrap sounded good!
 It contained:
- Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
- Supremely Spicy Hummus
- Mustard
- Boar’s Head Low Salt Turkey
- Land o’ Lakes White American Cheese
- Cucumbers
- Lettuce
- Pickles
I brought out this bag of Apple Cinnamon Soy Crisps for the side:
Along with some hummus and cucumbers for dipping:
Times 2! (Except my friend had Doritos instead of Soy Crisps!)
We wanted something chocolaty for dessert but did not know what. We browsed my cabinets and found these!
I received them from Kraft First Taste program a while ago. I figured this would be a nice opportunity to make them since I had another person with me.
We added this to the mix while we were at it. At least some of the pudding would be healthy!
The pudding called for 2% milk but I used skim milk instead.
The pudding was very easy to make! I just combined the milk with the powder…
 Mixed it all together…
And left it in the fridge for 10 minutes! Yes, I did lick the bowl above before sticking in it in the fridge. The mix is the best part!
After eating our wraps, the pudding was ready!
Pudding is not complete without whipped cream! (I used Fat Free Reddi Whip.)
It was delicious! It was still very thick even though I used skim instead of 2%. We seriously finished the entire bowl. I felt incredibly full after but it was so yummy!
I made it to the gym about an hour later for a quick workout. I did the Fitnessista 30 Minute Elliptical Workout. This was perfect since I did not want to stay at the gym long but wanted a nice challenge. I burned 285 calories and had a maximum heart rate of 182. Lovely!
Tonight we may go out to dinner. We are still deciding though. I’ll keep you posted!
Wonderful Thursday off!

Hey Missy,
Thanks for the comment. My biggest fear with starting back writing in my blog was no one would read it and I would get depressed, lol. But this foodie community is so supportive it’s great.
It’s good to know that others understand that late night trouble and temptation. I am hoping to make it a week. Hang in there, I know you can do it!

Glad you got some sleep. I’m jealous – I stayed up too late last night myself. What did you think of Lost? I’m really liking this season so far.
All those packages – score. Baskin Robbins has totally redeemed themselves! Go enjoy some mint chocolate chip ice-cream for me.
Loved your double hummus wrap…and so true, pudding is never complete without whipped cream!

Did you go out to dinner? I also got the Quaker drizzles today — I ordered the cheese ones for Rob I hope he got his!
I also got a soyjoy in the mail. Took a tiny taste (7 gr fiber so even that taste was more than I should do) and didn’t like it.

Dailygoods: Wow we do have similar stories! Where in NY do you plan on moving? I really do need to get out of this job but it is a big risk to take right now with the economy!
Sheena: Good luck making it a week! Yes the blog world is so supportive. It really does help with the struggles we go through.
Heather: I am loving Lost so far! It just keeps getting better and better. Yes, I will be heading to Baskin Robbins this weekend for some ice cream!
Dori: Nah, we didn’t go out to dinner because the lunch and pudding kept us full till 9 at night!
I hate Soyjoys too! They taste like cardboard!
