Happy Friday! I am much more awake than I was yesterday. I woke up once and ate half a Luna Cookie. Much better than 3 bowls of cereal! Thank you for all of your suggestions and comments yesterday. It was great too see some new commenter’s too! I get really excited when I see new names! A few good tips that I took away from your comments were:
- Drink a mug of water before grabbing a snack to see if I am thirsty or truly hungry.
- Make an Amazing Grass smoothie before I go to bed so I can sip on that if I wake up in the middle of the night.
- Track my calories and meals on Sparkpeople.com
- Add more protein to my meal at dinner
- Or…Don’t worry about it, it was just one slip up!
I will take of these tips into consideration. I really like the idea of having the Amazing Grass smoothie ready in the fridge. I think it would satisfy me enough to go back to sleep. Usually eating a bar just makes me want something more…like last night. It really helped yesterday to see how many people have similar issues and how much support I got. Definitely a nice reminder of why I blog every day!
On a less sappy note, product review time! A few days ago, I received for different Superfruit Spreads from Crofter’s Organics.
Stuffed with 1 pound of premium organic fruit, our new line of Superfruit Spreads includes four unique fruit combinations, sourced from around the world. Each certified organic spread is sweetened with fair trade sugar and contains one-third less sugar than jam. Experience these different cultural tastes while getting your daily dose of antioxidants.
There were 4 flavors:
- Asia: Raspberries and Yumberries with Morello Cherries and Red Grapes
- Europe: Black Currants and Pomegranates with Morello Cherries and Red Grapes
- North America: Wild Blueberries and Cranberries with Morello Cherries and Red Grapes
- South America: Maqui and Passionfruit blended with Morello Cherries and Red Grapes
I tried the North America spread on Tuesday.
Wild cranberries and blueberries blended with red grapes and morello cherries.
What berry combination could possibly be more North American? With a sweet but tart taste, cranberries and blueberries join forces to create this comforting and irresistible spread.
Loaded with antioxidants and vitamins, cranberries and blueberries have been used therapeutically on this continent for centuries to treat a variety of ailments.
I loved the huge chunks of fruit as soon as I opened the jar! I added some to a slice of whole wheat bread for one side of my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
The spread was delicious! It was pretty much like eating fresh blueberries. It was sweet and smooth.
The next day I tried the Europe spread.
About:
Pomegranates are an ancient fruit with a rich history. Rich in vitamin C and packed with antioxidants, tart black currants balance out the pomegranate’s sweetness.
Perfect on a thick slice of artisan bread, this combo is for those who prefer fruits spreads that aren’t too sweet and pack a little pucker. Naturally, this bright blend also packs plenty of vitamin C and antioxidants.
Check out the nutrition facts!
30 calories sounds good to me! The only ingredients are organic fruit, organic fare trade cane sugar, natural fruit pectin, and absorbic acid. I love the short and all natural list!
The spread had a tart pomegranate taste. It was very good but I may prefer the sweeter blueberry spread a little more. I loved the chunks of fruit once again. It paired great with some peanut butter of course!
Yesterday’s lunch
Last night I tried the South America and Asia spreads when making my lunch for today.
Get in touch with your exotic side when eating this blend of maqui berry and passionfruit. Studies show that maqui berries, sourced from one of the most fertile areas in the world, have the highest antioxidant activity of any fruit.
I had never heard of a maqui berry before but it sounds like they are super high in antioxidants! The spread was very good. It tasted exactly like red grapes.
I tried the Asian spread on another slice of bread.
Both yumberries and raspberries are native to East Asia and have been used historically for maintaining and restoring health. The Chinese know the yumberry as yang-mei. Once you’ve tried this brilliant red fruit, it’s easy to understand how the name yang-mei made its way to yummy and onward to yumberry.
This one was delicious and sweet as well! I think I am just in love with the name yumberry! So fun!
I added lots of peanut butter and will be eating it for lunch today in about an hour!
With some Vegetable Miguel’s chips on the side!
After work last night, I went to Total Body Conditioning. The class was much better than Tuesday night. It is my favorite teacher so I knew it would be good. We actually used weights and did push ups and squats unlike Tuesday so I am nice and sore today. I also did 20 minutes on the elliptical.
