Hello! I feel like yesterday I thought about so many random things to talk about in today’s post but now of course I can’t remember! Do you do that too? I know I brainstorm in my head all day about what to write about! I should start taking notes or something! I will start with yesterday’s food and take it from there!

Breakfast

Breakfast was another wonderful Energy Kitchen special!

5 egg whites with turkey bacon and low-fat mozzarella cheese on a whole wheat English muffin and a coffee with skim milk to drink. All for $2.17!! Wahoo! I am going to be sad when I can’t get it anymore on Monday! It comes to over $8.00 without the coupon so no thank you!

Remember yesterday when I said there were pastries and fruit out from a meeting? I grabbed a nice plate of fruit and resisted the pastries somehow!

I went back for seconds. It was delicious!

Lunch

Lunch was a turkey, ham, and cheese wrap…the usual. I really need to change up my lunches!

I had Miguel’s Vegetable tortillas on the side.

Yesterday was one of hose days where I was really craving ice cream after lunch. It’s been at least a week since I’ve had any so I gave in and went to The Lite Choice!

So so good. Now I am craving it again looking at that picture!

Core Fusion

After work, I had plans to take the 6:30 Core Fusion class with Dori at the Central Park South location. I get off of work at 6 and Hopstop.com said that the class was 26 minutes away. I left work 5 minutes early to make sure I’d be on time.

I got off the subway around 6:20 and looked down at my directions. They said to get off the subway at the Central Park West and Columbus Circle exit. The next step said to go East on Columbus Circle. Columbus Circle is very confusing and has so many different streets to turn down so I had no clue which way East was. I really have no sense of direction and pretty much get lost all the time anyway.

The next step told me to make a left at Central Park South. I was in such a rush that I didn’t really read this step. The address I was looking for was 150 and the street I was really on had numbers going up so I kept walking and walking to till I reached 150. Nothing looked familiar so I had a huge feeling I was on the wrong street. I must have went 10 blocks and ran half the time since the class was about to start in 5 minutes. Once I got to 150, there was no Core Fusion. I read my directions again and realized I was on Central Park West, not South!!

I was so stressed out because if you miss a class at Core Fusion class that you sign up for, they charge you for that class ($35.00!) It was 6:30 so I decided to hop in a cab. I told the cab driver to drive as fast as possible!! He really did drive like a psycho and almost hit a few cars on the way, but I managed to get there at 6:35. I threw him $7.00 and ran in the class all drenched from running! I took a spot in the very back so no one would notice. Luckily a few other girls came in late too.

The class was already almost done with the arms section so I was pretty upset that I missed it. At least I made it though! I got a spot next to Dori for the rest of the class. We both had a really hard time since it’s been so long since we’ve taken a class there! My legs were shaking so much and hurt more than they ever did in any of my previous classes. I had to stop and rest a few times during abs too. It was a great class but I felt so weak!

I really wish I could take the class a few times a week so I could build up my muscles again but my bank account won’t allow that! I will at least try for once a week since I have 9 more classes to use. I should really be doing the Shred or something too since I felt so weak! It was really hard to walk up the stairs after class! My legs still sore today so a rest day is probably necessary! We shall see :)

Dinner

I took the subway home and was nice and hungry for dinner. I had tilapia leftover so I decided to eat that but change up a few things from the night before.

First I made some broccoli in my wonderful steamer.

By the way, if you would like to know the survey websites where I get cool prizes like my steamer, e-mail me and I will refer you to them. I also added a link on my side bar to one of my favorite ones (Opinion Outpost). I cashed out $160.00 from them last night so yes, it is worth it! Sometimes they send you cool items to test out like shampoo, gum, toothpaste, etc. I’ve been doing them for years so it really has paid off for me.

Back to dinner :)

I cooked my tilapia and mushrooms on the stove and decided to add some salsa on top to change things up.

I put them over a salad with a sweet potato and broccoli. I also added some Parmesan on the salsa.

Delicious! Salsa always makes things better. Adding spray butter and Parmesan to my broccoli also made it taste wonderful!

I think I ate all of the fresh food I got from the market on Sunday so who knows what is on the menu for tonight! The only thing I did not like was feeling pressured to eat everything I bought right away so it would not go bad. I know I could have put the fish in the freezer but then I always forget to thaw it out on the day I want it! Maybe it is a good thing though since having all the fresh food motivates me to cook every night!

Dessert was some Holey Donuts!

The jelly donut was the best thing ever. It had jelly exploding from the center so I kept dipping my munchkins in the jelly! YUM!

Heart Rate Monitor and Running News

You probably know that I am always having issues with my Polar F7. It either does not register my heart rate, or it stops working in the middle of my workout. I look down sometimes at my watch and it says my heart rate is 50. Sometimes it says it is 135. Definitely not accurate.

Chris from Polar contacted me and told me to make sure I wash my strap in the washing machine after each use. I was not doing this but I was washing it in the sink with hand soap every time. I washed it in the washing machine and it worked for a day or two but than it started acting up again.

I realized after I got it off Amazon that my strap was a size medium. I was not at all familiar with heart rate monitors when I purchased it so I did not think to look for a size. I checked the size chart and realized I needed a smaller size. I think this is definitely the issue because when I sweat, the sensor slides down my chest. I have to push it into my body and hold it there for a minute before it starts registering again. I decided to order an XS/S strap off Amazon a few days ago so hopefully that solves my problem!

I was actually considering trading my heart rate monitor in for a whole new one. I really wanted one that tracked mileage since I was starting to run outside a little bit. They were willing to do a trade-up but the price still would have been almost double what I paid for the F7!

Dori and I were discussing what to do a few days ago because she also has the F7 and runs outside every week now. She mentioned the Nike+iPod sensor.

I knew about it but just forgot that it could be a good option to track mileage! I also thought you needed Nike’s for it too work. I purchased great running shoes from Jack Rabbit a few months ago so I did not want to go out and spend money on new Nike’s that might not even fit me as well.

Then Dori found out that they make little sensor pouches that you can attach to any brand of shoe! She showed me the picture and I realized I had one already!!

I ordered a cute case for my new iPod touch a few weeks ago and it came with this little black thing. I had no idea what it was so I just put it in my desk drawer at home. Once I realized it was the holder, I knew I had to buy the Nike+iPod sensor! I got it yesterday and it was only $19.00! I am so glad I did not buy a whole new heart rate monitor!! It does so many neat things too! I plan to try it this weekend when I attempt another outside run so I will let you know how it works out!

Once again, I only drank 1/4 of my coffee and I am typing at a million miles a minute. After this Energy kitchen promotion is over, I will go back to tea! The coffee really wakes me up in the morning but then I feel extremely tired by the end of the work day. Once I get home at night, I feel super awake! I’ve been taking melatonin and not going to bed till midnight this week! I blame it on the coffee since I was starting to do really well with falling asleep! I’m getting a lot of reading done before bed to make me sleepier so that part is good!

I feel like I just typed a book so I am going to read some other blogs now!

fresh broccoli is amazing! if you liked it steamed, try cutting up the broc into bite sized pieces, drizzle with evoo and bake at 400 for 15 mins. when they are done, spinkle salt and parm cheese on top. its heavenly. I think its called brocoli popcorn.

I feel so famous, I am all over this post! We can have virtual races with our Nike + iPods, let's do that when mine comes!

As far as Run To Finish's comment, yes it is not the most accurate but for what we need it for, we don't need anything perfect. We just want a general idea.

totally interested in the free stuff survey things… Did you have to pay to begin with?

froyo is soooo good! I crave it just about every minute of every day!

I think I want some kind of running device to help me keep track of pace, mileage, HR, etc… I need to do a lot more research on that stuff!

    Happy Thursday lovely!

Dang your breakfast is as much as just getting a cup of coffee. What a steal!!

glad you made it to your core fusion class – what an adventure!

I used to use the Nike+ sensor before I got my Garmin. It was VERY handy (but not 100% accurate on distance). I would say it over-estimated my distance a bit. But it gives you a pretty accurate rough idea!

I'm definitely e-mailing you on the surveys!! I love free stuff.

WOW that CF class sounds amazing. I love it when you're so sore that you can hardly walk!

Hopefully the new strap will solve your issues! I really want a HRM, but I just know a lot of people have issues with them. That, and I'm too indecisive to decide which one!

I have been on a fish kick – Tilapia is good. I am just in love with Orange Rought – with tomato, caper, basil, lemon and olive oil bath.

Yeah, I agree that the drag about buying all the fresh stuff is that you have to use it or lose it! Obviously, it is preferable taste and healthwise, but like Wednesday the boyf asked me if I wanted to have dinner with him and I was like, I just bought all this stuff at the farmer's market! So I cooked for myself and he picked up his own dinner and came over. Not bad of course, but still, it makes me feel less spontaneous when I'm forced to plan the use of all the produce!
