Cocktails in the Sun

Happy Memorial Day! Hope everyone is having a nice long weekend. I am not ready to go out in the sun yet so I decided to do a nice little recap of the weekend so far!

Friday night I went to Uno Chicaco Grill for some happy hour. Their happy hour is from 4:00 to 7:00 or after 10:00. I was not able to go until about 9:00 so I decided to just wait the extra hour! The only drinks they had on special were Miller Light, Coors Light, and Bud Light. As far as chain restaurants go, Friday’s wins because they have half priced mixed drinks all night that are very strong! I went with a tall Coors Light.

They had a happy hour food menu but it was all the fried stuff of course. I stuck with my usual meal there. I started with a house salad.

020

For my main course, I got:

ROASTED VEGETABLES & FETA WRAP
A whole wheat and flaxseed tortilla filled with roasted vegetables, carmelized onions, tomato, feta, lettuce and balsamic vinaigrette.

038

I got steamed veggies on the side instead of fries. They were drenched in butter but oh well. My friend got some items off of the happy hour menu: 2 deep dish baby pizzas! Yummy.

021

I had another beer and then passed out.

Saturday I woke up at 2:00 in the afternoon! I definitely needed to catch up on my sleep! I decided to go to brunch with my roommate. We tried to go to our usual Tower Diner but there was a really bad fire last week at the stores next door. About 3 or 4 stores completely burnt down and Tower Diner just got some water damage. Luckily no one was hurt but it was sad to walk past. Instead we went to the Forest Hills Diner. On the way there, I dropped my brand new Droid Incredible on the pavement!!! I’ve only had it for 2 weeks :(

023

UGH. I can’t be trusted with any kind of technological devise. I either spill water on everything or just completely break it. I wasn’t too upset because I bought insurance the other day. I immediately went to Verizon and they told me I would still have to pay $90.00. AAH. They also said I will have to repurchase all of my apps. The phone is on backorder so who knows when I will get the new one! Luckily mine still works.

Breakfast made me feel better. I got a giant egg white omelet with mushrooms, peppers, and feta cheese. I passed on the potatoes. I like them burnt.

040

The Lite Choice was right next door so I treated myself to half Milkyway and half Original with cookie crunches. So good.

***For anyone in New York, The Lite Choice is giving out a free cup or cone to celebrate Memorial Day between 3pm and 6pm at the following stores:

116 7th Ave South, 436 6th Ave, 84 7th Ave, 220 8th Ave, 146 72nd, 426 Amsterdam, & 2540 Broadway***

Saturday night I just went to a few bars near by apartment to watch the Flyers game. I don’t have any pictures for some reason. One too many vodka drinks!

Yesterday I met some friends at Water Taxi Beach! I had no idea if it was a real beach but I figured it would be a nice place to lay out. We got there and they told us there were no food or drinks allowed. I was all prepared with my cooler so this was very upsetting! We sat outside and scarfed down our breakfast sandwiches. I also bought a big bag of grapes so we finished the whole thing before going in. I had to throw out a big bag of Pirate’s Booty too. Oh and Vitamin Waters did not count as water according to them. Blah. It could have been worse. A group of other people tried to bring in a big case of beer! They weren’t allowed in so they all sat there trying to chug it within 5 minutes! Eventually the security freaked out at them and made them pour it all out. I would have cried. Next we heard it was $25.00 a person to get in because there was a private party going on. I don’t think so!! After talking to the guards, we found out there was a separate beach section that was free. We just went there.

032

It was pretty nice there. The beach was all fenced in so we couldn’t get near any water but it was okay to just relax and lay out for the day. There was a very pretty view of the city.

030

The private party happened to be a Jazz Festival. Everyone inside was all dressed up and we had to listen to jazz music the whole time. Not so fun. We got a few pitchers of Sangria so it was still a great day anyway.

028

I knew there was a house DJ coming on at 6:00 so we stayed until then so we could hear some enjoyable music! I got so sick of the jazz by the end! Eventually we had to leave because we were so exhausted from the heat and alcohol. We were starving too! The only food option in the free section was hot dogs.

We hit up Cheeburger Cheeburger after and I got a Veggie Burger salad.

033

I needed something fried after all of that drinking.

034

Yes…definitely did the trick!!

Not sure what I am doing today yet. I’m about to go find a place to lay out. I love the sun! Have a good one!

What was your favorite part of the weekend so far?

  • Mmmmm sangria sounds good right now!! That really sucks about your phone, still having to pay plus pay for the apps. I would not be a happy camper.

My favorite part of the wknd was finding an awesome deal on an oversized chair and ottoman at Goodwill or hiking yesterday, despite all my injuries.

  • I’m awful with technology too. My latest phone died a tragic death after I forgot it was in my back pocket and it fell in the toilet. :( All the eats look delicious, especially that wrap!

  • That sucks about your phone! Someone I managed to hang on to mine for years before I had an accident with it. I pray I can do the same thing with the new (terribly expensive) one I have now!

Your eats look great though! Oh, and my favorite part of the weekend was coming home! lol
