Hello all. It’s been one crazy afternoon. A nice big shipment from Staples came for our entire office so I had the pleasure of sorting through 20 boxes for 2 hours. I finally got that done so now I can recap back to lunch!
Around 11:30 I started to get a little hungry so I pulled out a snack that the lovely fellows from
Clif Bar sent me. It was a Dark Chocolate Walnut Clif Nectar Cocoa Bar. Long Name!!
I only had that small piece since my lunch was only an hour away.
Ingredients: Organic Dates, Organic Walnuts, Organic Unsweetened Chocolate, Organic Cocoa, Organic Vanilla.
It is always a plus when there are only 5 ingredients!
The bar contains 160 calories, 6 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbohydrates, 6 grams of fiber, 18 grams of sugar, and 3 grams of protein.
The bar looked good upon opening. You could see huge chunks of walnuts throughout the bar. I bit in and thought it had a very rich taste. I did not love the flavor. I decided it tasted like nail polish remover! I would not buy this again but I did finish it after lunch for something sweet!
At 12 I went to the doctor and was done by 12:15! Love it. I walked around outside for a half hour after since I have to skip the gym again today.
I came back to my desk at 1 and brought out lunch which I packed at home.
- Tuna
- Mustard
- Hummus
- Goat Cheese
- Lettuce
- Cues
- Arnold’s Multigrain Sandwich Thin
Delicious as always!!
I had some Baked Lays on the side.
As many of you may remember, I received a HUGE box of food from Newman’s Own a few weeks ago. My roommate and I have been trying a little here and there each day. I decided it was time to discuss a few of the snacks!
The first bag we opened was the Champion Chip Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Ingredients:
Organic Unbleached Flour, Organic Sugar, Organic Palm Oil, Organic Chocolate Chips (Organic Sugar, Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Corn Syrup Solids, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Organic Vanilla Beans), Chocolate Chips (Sugar, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Dextrose, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Vanilla), Liquid Egg Whites, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa, Vanilla, Baking Soda, Salt
Nutritional Facts: Serving Size – 4 cookies (33 g)
Calories 160, Fat Calories 70, Total Fat 8g, Saturated Fat 3.5g, Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 70mg, Total Carbohydrates 20g, Dietary Fiber 1g, Sugars 11g, Protein 2g
I immediately liked the fact that a serving size was 4 cookies. The cookies are bite size so it would be impossible to eat just one! The size makes them the perfect snack when I am craving something sweet for dessert.
I thought the cookie was very good. It did the trick when I wanted something chocolaty. It obviously did not taste as good as a homemade chocolate chip cookie but for a healthy alternative, it was perfect. My roommate thought they were okay but tasted a little dry and powdery. I would buy these again for a nice treat.
The next package we opened was Organic High Protein Pretzels.
Ingredients:
Organic unbleached wheat flour, yellow pea flour, gluten, organic sunflower oil, salt, organic sugar, organic barley malt, yeast and sodium bicarbonate.
Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size: about 22 pretzels (30g), Calories per Serving: 120, Calories from fat: 15, Total Fat: 1.5g (saturated fat: 0gm), Cholesterol: 0mg, Sodium: 230mg, Total Carbohydrates: 22g (dietary fiber: 4g, sugars: 1g), Protein: 5g

My favorite thing about them is the cute N shape in the middle!! 22 pretzels for only 120 calories also makes a wonderful snack when I get those munchies!! 5 Grams of protein for these pretzels is also a huge benefit.
They tasted like any usual pretzel but with less salt. I liked the fact that they had less salt. My roommate likes that too but thought they did not taste quite as good as regular pretzels.
The next bag we tried was the Honey Wheat Pretzels!
Ingredients:
Organic unbleached wheat flour, organic whole wheat flour, organic honey, organic sugar, organic sunflower oil, salt, yeast, soda.
Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size: about 20 pretzels (30g), Calories per Serving: 110, Calories from fat: 10, Total Fat: 1g (saturated fat: 0gm), Cholesterol: 0mg, Sodium: 180mg, Total Carbohydrates: 22g (dietary fiber: 3g, sugars: 2g), Protein: 2g
Anything with the name Honey Wheat immediately attracts me to the product. I love that they are made with organic whole wheat flower rather than the usual white flour. They had a delicious taste to them with a hint of honey. My roommate thought they were good in the beginning but said they got stale pretty fast. She was not too fond of the texture but she could still not stop eating them. I would buy these again because of the high quality ingredients and good taste.
We tried one more package-Fig Newmans!
I have to admit my favorite thing about them might be the name! So cute that it is just like Fig Newton!
Quick Interruption (The Director of Sales just came up to my desk and started reading the sentence above out loud!!!!! How embarrassing!!!!!!! No one at work knows about my blog! AAH!)
Okay he walked away so how bout I show you the ingredients!!!
Organic Unbleached Flour, Organic Sugar, Organic Figs, Corn Syrup, Organic Palm Oil, Water, Leavening (sodium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate), Non-Fat Dry Milk, Vanilla, Salt, Natural Flavor, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier).
Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size – 2 bars (38g) Calories per Serving 140. Calories From Fat 20, Total Fat 2g (saturated fat 1g), Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 170mg, Total Carb 28g, Dietary Fiber 1g, Sugar 13g, Protein 2g
I thought these were delicious, light, and not too salty or sweet. My roommate and I both thought they were better than the original Fig Newtons! They can be dangerous for me since only 2 bars are 140 calories but they are much healthier than if I were to eat a Fig Newton! They are the first fig bar made with organic figs, organic flour, organic sugar, and without hydrogenated cookies. I recommend these to everyone! Delicious!

Hey again,
First of all, pairing hummus and tuna together? I never would have thought of that combo. I will have to give it a try sometime.
Secondly, once again I love the bar review. I haven’t tried any of the nectar bars from Clif so I will keep your opinion in mind.
Finally, high protein pretzels? I eat pretzels so often I will have to try those.
Thanks girl, and take care!
