Birthday Treats and Movie Friday!

Morning! You might be wondering why I a blogging at 7:00 am on a Saturday! I am wondering the same thing myself! Actually I have to wake up at 8:00 anyway because I am renting a van for an hour to pick up some furniture from Craiglist. I figured I’d catch up on the blog since there is no point in sleeping for a half hour! I will recap back to my birthday on Thursday!

I started the day off with the best bowl of oatmeal ever.

Archer Farms Blueberry Almond oats with Barney Butter, Cranberry Maple granola, skim milk, and a banana!

I brought some PB & J with Michael Season’s cheese curls for lunch!

I had nothing to do during my lunch break so I ended up in the health food store! Never a good idea because I always end up leaving with one of these!

I decided to be brave and try the green one! It tasted a bit like grass but once I got used to it, I loved it! So addicting!

I also wanted something sweet so I bought a little piece of dark chocolate that benefits endangered species. Oh yeah!

I did not need to buy that chocolate! Look what my boss brought over to me!!!

So nice of her! Omg it was amazing. I tried to eat half because I was about to go to dinner in an hour! I was good and put it in a ziploc for later! Yummm!

My parents came to New York and we met my sister at a Mexican restaurant called Maryann’s. Sorry, no pictures since the blog is still secret!! The food was amazing!!

I started off with chips and salsa and a nice big glass of sangria! My sister and I got 2 entrees and split them both. We got:

VEGETARIAN BURRITO
An assortment of fresh vegetables sautéed with garlic, rolled in a whole wheat tortilla, topped with enchilada sauce, melted soy cheese. Served with brown rice and black beans.

TEQUILLA LIME SHRIMP
Jumbo shrimp sautéed with artichoke hearts & mushrooms in fresh lime juice, garlic, butter & finished with tequila. Served with salad, avocado vinaigrette and green chili rice.

They both were seriously some of the best Mexican dishes I’ve ever eaten. My mom was amazed at how good her burrito was too! We would definitely eat here again!

My parents brought me a beautiful treat!

I saved that for later because I knew we were going to The Lite Choice to get fro-yo!! I got a small chocolate with carob chips! MMM!

My parents also brought me the best Jewish Apple Cake EVER! My sister took half my cake home!

The pie is seriously almost gone after just 1 day of having it. The top is covered in cinnamon and there are huge baked apples in the middle. So so good.

After dinner, we went to a girl’s house in Astoria so I could pick up a loveseat I found on Craigslist. It is very nice! I got home and watched a movie and passed out!

Yesterday I had off from work! I slept till 12. It was so nice. I woke up craving some cereal!

I had MYWAYCEREAL Missy’s Mix #1 with 1/2 a banana! My mix has choco-cherries and dried blueberries!

I had another small bowl with Missy’s Mix #2!

This one has walnuts, flax, and dried mangos. MMM!

I watched Bride Wars while eating my cereal. Cute but cheesy..ya know. The boy and I decided to head to the movies since the weather was kind of crappy. But first, I had way too much Jewish Apple cake!!

We saw Taking of Pelham 123 first. It was pretty good! We then walked on over to another theatre to see Land of the Lost! It was really dumb but cute for kids!

I was starving after the first movie so I started eating a Pecan Pie Larabar.

I stopped eating it when the boy brought this over!!

I know how awful they are for you but I haven’t had them in years! I was going to have just 1 pretzel dipped in cheese but is that even possible? NO! I probably had about 7 or 8. They are the best! Hot melted cheese! I could not resist!

We went to another apartment to pick up a dresser from Craigslist at 9. We spent all this time waiting for a van cab so we could fit the dresser inside. Once we got the dresser outside, the cab driver told us he didn’t want it in his brand new cab! We thought we were stranded but luckily the people who sold it to me had a friend with a van! They were nice enough to drive us to my apartment with the dresser! I decided an hour later that I wanted the matching armoire so we are heading back there in a few minutes!

We were starving for a real dinner by the time that was done. I knew I wanted a big salad after eating so many carbs all day! We walked to Austin street and got Cheeburger Cheeburger to go! We also rented The Day the Earth Stood Still.

I got the Portobello Mushroom salad!

How good does that look??!!! I got it with kidney beans, more mushrooms, cucumber, sunflower seeds, carrots, and guacamole. I also got feta cheese and garbanzo beans but they forgot that! It was still delicious!

I also snacked on some Cape Cod Buttermilk Ranch chips on the side!

I passed out after an hour of our movie. I will finish it later today!

After we get my armoire today, we are heading to Coney Island! I’ve never been there so we figured it would be fun to go for my birthday. He is trying to get me on the roller coaster but I am terrified. I will stick with the games!!

Have a good day!

let me get this straight — you receive packages and packages of FREE food each week, and you still feel the need to sneak into movie theaters?

your parents are probably more than right about your "boy"

Anonymous: First of all, you have no right to say anything about my boy. Second, getting some free snacks to try does not mean I am rich. Third, I'm sure everyone has done it once in their life anyway. My blog is a place to be honest and we did it out of fun so sorry if you disagree.

I'd like to say to Anonymous: I am "the boy" and yes, they are right about me. Haha. I would like to make up for my my wrong doing by sending you 50 cents so that you can call the movie police.

Sorry baby…I had to defend you. It's my nature. And by the way…you are so sexy :) XoXoXo

Oh man all those yummmy treats, that's the only downside for me to birthdays…cause I want to enjoy them all right away and then I"m like woooahh my tummy hurts

    Happy birthday weekend!

Anon is a moron. Getting food to review has nothing to do with walking into a movie after yours ended. What does that have to do with your bf anyway? You didn't say you learned the idea from him or he coerced you!

nothing wrong with eating extra chocolate when it's for a good cause … and when it's your birthday! i LOVE maryann's — perfect place for a bday dinner.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

That apple cake – oh my freaking gosh. It looks amazing!! Glad you had a great b-day. :-)

And those pretzels? I've never seen those! I would have a hard time turning those down…carbs + cheese = pure heaven.

    Ugh, anon…really? Jealous much?!
