Big S Farms Salsa Review and Recipe Contest!!

I feel so behind on all my food blogging so I will give a little recap of my eats from yesterday and today! I won’t bore you with every little snack but I tried some delicious new foods that I do not want to forget about!

Yesterday for breakfast I tried a new Turtle Mountain yogurt! I decided on the Vanilla flavor.

It was delicious! It had a really good flavor and I could not taste coconut. I added an amazing muffin in the yogurt which I will discuss more tomorrow when I do a product review! I received 6 different muffins while I was away so I want to try each flavor before I talk about them!

At lunch I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. I came back and had a turkey sandwich with Newman’s Own Cheddar Soy Crisps!

The soy crisps are so great! I can’t believe I waited so long to open them! For a snack I had an apple and a banana! I had nothing else in my desk and had those munchies!

After work, I met boyfriend and we went to the gym for an amazing kickboxing class! It was non stop squats and cardio! The boy could not keep up! Love it! The instructor said we probably burned 500-700 calories in the class. My heart rate monitor said 300 so maybe it is more for him since he is a big guy. It was a great workout!

We decided to make some Mexican for dinner! I picked up some healthy tortilla chips on the way to the gym to go with dinner. It was hard for me to buy chips at all since I have about 20 bags to try out but of course none of them were tortilla chips!

I got Garden of Eatin MultiGrain Chips! They were very good!

We also got some Mexican seasoning to saute veggies in.

Along with Weight Watchers Mexican cheese!!

We made some brown rice in a bag.

Corn!!

Mushrooms and peppers in the Mexican seasoning!

Along with black beans!

Check out our table! It was one big Mexican fiesta!

I decided to make a giant Mexican salad with all of the fun toppings!

AMAZING! The boy used wraps and made fajitas!

A few weeks ago, I received a bunch of salsas and hot sauces from Big S Farms!

I decided it would be the perfect time to try out the Fire on the Mountain Hot Salsa and the Tennessee Thunder Habanero Sauce!

From the website:

The Fire on the Mountain Habanero Salsa: Rich red tomatoes, onions, cilantro and our special blend of habanero varieties combine to give the world of salsa a kick in the hot seat.

The website was right; this stuff was HOT! I still have an Extra Hot version to try too! I was on fire after eating it but it was still very delicious! The boy loved it too! It only has 10 calories and had a fresh homemade flavor! It had nice big chunks of tomatoes which I loved!

I tried the Tennessee Thunder Jabanero sauce next!

From the website:

The sweetness of fresh carrots is blended with the smokey flavor of our own mountain grown orange habaneros. This caribbean style sauce will liven up any dish!
Ingredients:
Onions
Carrots
Vinegar
Habaneros
Lime Juice
Garlic
Salt

At first I could not get the sauce out of the bottle! I was expecting it to be in liquid form but it was actually thick in texture. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It had a hint of sweetness and spice to it! At one point I think I ate too much at once since the flavor was so good and my mouth caught on fire! The boy was a little turned off by the thick texture at first but did enjoy the unique flavor of the sauce. I really love the natural ingredients and feel that it would be a great sauce to cook with! I look forward to trying out the other sauces and salsas!

For dessert, we bought a 2nd carton of the Turtle Mountain Cookie Dough! Yes, it was that good. We did not eat it till 12 at night so I probably should have just went to bed without it but I could not let a brand new carton just sit there!

I topped it with bananas and some chocolate syrup!

Of course some whipped cream too!

I went to bed right after! I told the boy to not let me eat ice cream after 11 from now on! I definitely could have fell asleep way before eating it! Oh well!

Breakfast this morning was Turtle Mountain Plain Yogurt!

With a cup of Awake Tea and a special muffin which will be featured tomorrow!
I did not like the plain yogurt at all. The coconut gave it a really strange flavor! I still ate it all but the vanilla and blueberry is much better!
I went to the gym at lunch for another half hour on the elliptical! I won’t be going after work so I made sure to go at lunch!
I came back to work and had a turkey and ham wrap! I am getting a little sick of turkey so I decided to add some ham in there for a change!
I also had some more Newman’s Own Cheddar Soy Crisps!
Along with a Chocolate Chip Z-Bar for dessert!

After work I am heading over to Union Square for the Hungry Girl book signing! I went last year and went home with tons of Vitatops and popchips!! I am all out of popchips so I am hoping they give them out again! I am prepared with some extra totes to get lots of samples! I am dragging the boy along to get me extra samples too! He loves popchips just as much as I do so he did not argue at all! We also plan to have dinner at Whole Foods after so I am very excited!

I’ll be back tomorrow to let you know how it goes!

MMMMM these salsa sound amazing! Bo and I love salsa and hot sauce on almost everything. It’s a fat free, low cal, but FLAVORFUL way to give anything a kick.

Our recipe would be to take blah egg whites to the next level by pouring in a splash of hot sauce when you’re cooking your egg whites on the stove. Then put the whites in a healthy wrap, add some black beans or hummus and you’ve got an awesome breakfast or lunch wrap to go!!
I’ve linked to the giveaway on my site as well!
