Ever have one of those days where you just can’t get full? Today is one of them for me! I keep having snack after snack and still have that hunger feeling in my tummy! Not fun! I’ll start from breakfast!
I received a free sample of Cream of Wheat last night so I brought it today to try!
It has been so long since I have had Cream of Wheat! My dad used to make it for me as a kid for dinner in a big pot with raisins. So good! I made it in the microwave today and it turned out really great!
I decided to check out the nutritional stats to see if I should eat it more!

Cream of Wheat has 50 less calories but the oats have 4 grams of fiber vs. 1 gram in the cream of wheat. They also have 5 grams of protein vs. 3 grams. I did some research and found:
The difference between Old Fashioned (or Rolled Oats — not quick oats) and cream of wheat is that Rolled Oats are less processed than CoW. Much more whole grain. CoW is also fortified (stuff ADDED) with the vitamins and minerals. Not all are naturally occurring in the wheat. Therefore Oatmeal is far better for you as a whole grain. Even better would be steel-cut or pinhead oats. And even better is oat bran.
Looks like I will be sticking with my oats!! The cream of wheat was good for a change though! I added a new granola on top that I received a few days ago from Bakery on Main!
From the website:
At Bakery on Main, our dedicated artisan bakers take the highest quality natural ingredients and craft them into unique and healthy culinary marvels. We use no artificial colors, GMOs, artificial flavors, trans-fatsor refined sugars. Whether you follow a gluten free diet or a heart healthy high fiber diet, we offer you great tasting products.
Their granola comes in a few flavors:
- Apple Cinnamon Walnut
- Cranberry Maple Almond
- Maple Raisin Almond
- Pecan Cranberry Crunch
- Super Fruit & Nut
They were nice enough to send me the Cranberry Maple Almond:
Plentiful whole toasted almonds, succulent dried cranberries and natural maple essence sing together the chorus of taste bud happiness. Please do not eat too early in the morning because the songs and shouts of delight will wake people up.
As I took some granola out of the bag to taste it, I noticed there were huge clusters of granola stuck together. I loved the big chunks that you do not find in many other types of granola. There were also nice big cranberries and whole almonds in the mix!
It had a wonderful maple flavor that was not too sweet. It was delicious in my Cream of Wheat!

Of course I love the organic ingredients and natural sugars used. I just have to be careful to portion out serving sizes since just 1/2 a cup is 240 calories! It is so delicious that it could be very easy to eat 3 times that! I would definitely try their other flavors of granola!
During lunch I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical.

I also plan to go to spin after work since I have been eating non-stop today!
Can you guess what lunch was??
It contained:
- Turkey
- American Cheese
- Sabra Hummus
- Lettuce
- Red Peppers
- Mustard
- Whole Wheat Wrap
Delicious lunch! But something was missing!!! CHIPS!!! I put a bag in the fridge last night next to my sandwich to bring today and I completely forgot it! My wrap is no fun without something to munch on!
I was not completely satisfied when I was done so I made a cup of Peach Ginger Green Tea with a Raspberry Dark Chocolate True Delight Bar.
That helped a little but I still had this hunger feeling after!! I brought out a YouBar!
I had the Great Date with Chocolate flavor in my desk for about a week now! This usually does not happen with bars. I tend to eat them right away but I think the consistency of the last one I tried turned me off to these bars. This flavor tasted a little better than the Breakfast Bar flavor but I was not crazy about it. It is still way too sticky for my liking. The flavor was a little weird too.
I do like the ingredients:
Organic Dates, Whey Protein Isolate, Organic Honey, Cocoa.
Well it served its purpose! I finally felt satisfied after. I guess the 8 grams of protein in the bar helped!
Okay, an hour later I had a pear too! Probably just because I knew it was there. I need to get out of here and go do some spinning!!
I will leave you with a giveaway from my friend Melanie!

I’ve never tried cream of wheat…it looks like it’d be bland, but hell, I add so much to my oatmeal to jazz that up anyway!

Mmmmm….cream of wheat. My trainer tells me my body isn’t ready for that yet. Here’s what I do! I take 1/2 cup of oats and grind them in my magic bullet. Cook like normal and put dark chocolate cocoa powder in them and then they are like cocoa wheats!!

My dad used to make CoW for me too! He is great at breakfast food. I miss his pancakes, waffles, and french toast!
