Hello! Last night was day 3 of the Core Fusion Challenge! I took an Open class at the location near my work. There is one thing that bothers me about that location. There is a cute small gym with a few ellipticals, treadmills, and weight machines. I get off work at 6:00 and Core Fusion does not start till 6:45 so I have a lot of time to spare. A little extra cardio before class would be nice! Apparently the gym is only for hotel guests so I have to sit there and stare at the gym for 45 minutes while I wait for class to start. It is always empty so I wish I was allowed to do a little cardio! Oh well!

Last night I got changed and sat outside the gym while drinking some of their delicious Earth tea. I guess I should cherish the relaxation time before class!Eventually class began and I was happy to see that the teacher was the same girl Dori and I took class with one Friday morning. She was really nice and a great teacher. She also has the most beautiful curly red hair that I just kind of stare at during class!

We started off with a plank which seemed extra long! I was really struggling with it last night. It seemed like a good 3 minutes that we held it while doing different moves with our legs at the same time. We then moved onto push ups which I could also barely do! I was able to do them better midway through the class. I guess my body was warmed up later on.

We moved onto hand weights which I always enjoy. Next was the dreadful leg section against the bar. My legs were shaking uncontrollably. Other girls were cursing under their breaths. It burned! We did butt on the floor next. My legs were shaking more than ever during this as well. This was a reminder that I should not go more than a week without taking the class!  We finished with abs using the bar and the ball. I always have a tough time getting low enough in the c-curve position. I really hope my abs get stronger once this challenge is over!

I left the class feeling great as usual. I was wobbling down the subway stairs on my way home! Everyone needs to try this class at least once in their life!

I found out today that I was accepted into another challenge!! It will begin on Sunday and end on February 7th. I will explain more in a future post but it involves a one month membership to Equinox and taking a new class! I was beyond excited when I got the acceptance email this morning!! Janruary should be a good month to get me back into shape! I kind of slacked off the past couple of weeks and it shows. I am hoping to lose around 5 pounds and get stronger and toned. We’ll see!

Eats!

I had a very random breakfast yesterday!

001

I picked up this sandwich at the health food store before work. I really did not want oatmeal again! I also had to train someone yesterday so I knew I needed a quick breakfast. It was a delicious sandwich and did a nice job of keeping me full till lunch!

I packed lunch and brought it with me to work.

002

It was low-salt ham and American cheese on a flax wrap. I had some Dr. Kracker’s on the side. I ate it in the Chelsea Market. Guess who was there? Nigel from America’s Next Top Model! I missed him but my coworker said he walked right by us!

I made my usual Mexican salad for dinner! I started off by making a salad with grilled mushrooms and cucumbers.

005

I then made a package of Lightlife Mexican Crumbles with red peppers and squash.

006

A little brown rice on the side…

007

I topped the Mexican crumbles and brown rice over my salad with some low-fat mozzarella cheese.

009

I used a few different salsas for dressing!

008

Yummy!

010

Dessert was a Glow Gluten Free cookie!

015

I will review these cookies in my next post! Let’s just say I got 4 different flavors and was very curious to try each one right away! I consumed many many cookies yesterday!

I made up for it with the gym this morning because I am not sure if I can go to Core Fusion tonight! I burned a nice 463 calories on the treadmill and elliptical. I like being all done for the day!

What time of day do you like to work out and why?

Today is the last day to enter my New Year Giveaway!

  1. I am a morning person! It gives me energy for the day, and I also love being done with it. There are too many excuses to make in evening. I have worked out in the morning probably since I was 15-16!

When I work out (need to be better about it) I like to workout at night or on my lunch break if I have time.

ideally, i would love to work out in the mornings but i hate waking up early. And i walk the dog for an hour a day… if I actually decide to work out its before dinner. I have asked mari to come to my apartment and make me exercise… I wish i had the dedication to work out as I did for blogging

  6. I love working out in the morning. It’s a big relief to have my workout done so I don’t think about it all day long.

I did Core Fusion this morning and I was shaking and swearing at the tv during the leg portion. hahaha! I have trouble getting the c curve right too! I hope we both have strong, sexy abs by the end of this challenge!

    Nigel is hot.

That cookie looks SO good for being GF! Hmmm….I prefer to workout in the mornings just because you’re done, but lately I’ve been switching it up a little and going a couple evenings a week. This girl also loves her sleep. ;-)

I wouldn’t say I’m a morning person, but I feel better getting up earlier and starting my day with a workout.Plus, I don’t have to worry about having the energy at the end of the day. cc

I like working out after work. I get out kind of early (4:30) so it gives me something to do after work!

  12. wow that workout sounds amazing! I don’t think they have those classes around my house….I hope my gym gets on that bandwagon!

I usually work out after work but I’d really like to start working out in the morning. It’d be nice to just get it out of the way first thing!

I tend to work out at whatever time of day I have time, so it could be early morning, lunch, or evening. But I think I prefer the mornings — it is nice to have it done with for the day. Maybe you could go for a walk during the 5 minute break before class?

  18. I’m so jealous you and Dori get to do this together! Dori has me going to Core Fusion Yoga next Saturday, though. I may swear not so under my breath. ha! And that Mexican Salad- wowza! I’m a big fan of Mexican anything (which explains the tightening waistband of my pants). I’m really glad Dori told me about your blog- looks great. I’ll have to do some backreading when I am not at work sneaking blogs ;)

Love the eats. Im so excited to try the Core fusion! I just got the DVDs so im in on the challange. Sounds like so much fun! Im such a morning person so for me, working out early is the best time. It stinks sometimes getting up so early but Im so glad to get it done for the day! Have a wondering day girl!

  20. this core fusion thing is awesome! that stinks that you have to just wait outside of teh gym before class and cant use the equipment! you should try talking to someone to try to work something out to use the machines!

that eggless sandwich has great stats! what a random, but delicous and healthy breakfast!

if I had my way I would workout in the AM everyday! (most of the time I do) but sometimes I go later and still manage to have a killer workout!

  21. I am usually at the gym between 5 and 5:30 AM. I like the AM for two reasons… a) it gurentees that I get my workout.. I would ge lazy after work b)don’t have to deal with a crowd

  25. Like most people have said, I absolutely *have* to workout in the morning. After a long day at school or work I’m just way too exhausted to “give it all I’ve got” at the gym. In the morning, on the other hand, I’m all revved up to go and get energized for the rest of the day. I’d honestly rather have to wake up at 4am to squeeze a morning workout in then go after work! but that’s just me ;)

Girl, I just love your blog. I can’t believe I haven’t found it sooner!! I’ll definitely be a follower :)

I love working out at night the most. I also love getting up early, and do anyway, but I’m not a “get it out of the way” type person- I look forward to it all day! I find it helps me sleep better, too.*And* I prefer doing my hair at night, which is another funny reason I prefer to work o t after work. It’s the best stress reliever
