I can finally get online! My computer at work has a virus so it lets me online for about 5 minutes at a time. Hopefully it gets fixed soon!
Yesterday I mentioned that I went to a gym class before work that was NOT fun. It was called Body Definitions and I thought it would be a typical weight training class. It was at 7:45 am instead of 6:30 am so I got to sleep as late as possible! It sounded like a nice idea at the time.
I walked in and we were instructed to get a body bar, mat, step, and weights. We started doing all of these weird moves using the step and weights at the same time. The entire class was lunges and squats while doing arms and stepping up and down. Maybe I would have tried to do these moves better if the teacher was not so mean! She actually kind of scared me. She kept correcting me but not in the nicest of ways. She kept telling me to stick my butt out during arms but now I am used to sticking my butt in at Core Fusion! I decided to just leave 10 minutes early because I could not stand to listen to her anymore.
I tried to stop for oatmeal on the way to work but the health food store only had weird kinds so I got a power sandwich instead!
Love these things! I can’t believe they are only 210 calories and just 130 mg of sodium. So impressive! They fill me up for a really long time too!
A new deli opened up by my work so I decided to try it out for lunch. I got all kinds of yummy vegetables.
I munched on some soy crisps as well.
I went back to the gym after work for inTensati since I didn’t consider my morning class a real workout. I had to take 2 days off from inTensati because of my knee and really missed it! The class was amazing as always. It is always completely packed when Patricia Moreno is teaching. We did the same routine as Saturday’s class which I really liked. It was still extremely challenging but I was able to concentrate on doing the moves all out instead of just worrying about what came next. I burned 410 calories in the class. I made sure to do some extra stretching afterwards to prevent my knee from getting any worse.
There was a Whole Foods right near the Equinox I went to so of course I had to go in! I had tons of coupons to redeem for the blog so I can finally get caught up on some reviews! I got a salad to take home as well. Yes..2 days in a row.
It contained kale, squash, detox salad, baked tofu, edamame, roasted vegetables, cabbage, and soba noodles. Delicious!
Dessert was grapes with whipped cream and a crumbled Z-Bar that I heated up in the microwave for 5 seconds! It makes it taste like a warm chocolate chip cookie
Tonight I am going back to inTensati. Very excited!
Questions!
1) Would you leave an exercise class early if you did not like it?
2) What was your worst or most memorable gym class experience?

That sandwich looks bomb!! Wish I found something like that near me
Sorry you’re class wasn’t all you were hoping for, but at least you got to try a new one out.
1. ummm….probably not, I’d probably just suck it up and learn for next time!
2. I really can’t think of a worst. I’ve gone to yoga ones that weren’t what I hoped for, but they weren’t exactly BAD!

I totally would leave a class if I was not enjoying it or if I feel like it wasnt doing me any good!! I guess I feel like it would be a waste of my time to stay!!

I still can’t get over the fact that the sandwich above is only 210 calories. That’s just not possible!! I don’t believe it. It looks amazing though, and very healthy
And what the heck is this “Detox salad”?! haha, too funny! What a clever name,
I don’t do any classes at the gym, but I did when I was in college. My mom memorable experience was my first pilates class I EVER took, with my friend Amanda. We were the losers in the back who had NO CLUE what we were doing. We were laughing the whole time, probably super annoying.

I have left a fitness/gym class early because I wasn’t digging it. It was called Sculpt and Sweat and in the first 20 minutes I wasn’t sweating or sculpting in the least. I also went to a spinning class at a Toronto chain of gyms that was awful. It was really just a guy talking to the 5 of us about his psychology courses he was taking part time. But at that one I lasted 45 minutes! Mostly because I thought maybe I read the time wrong and the class was to start later than I thought…

ughhhh i hate when gym experiences are horrible! it feels like such a waste of time especially if you’re getting up early! glad you redeemed it with solid food all day. and ending with that awesome class and whole foods? looks like you turned it around into a stellar day

Just discovered your blog. I am really enjoying it.
Most memorable gym class moment: Falling on the step during step class. The instructor stopped the class and ran to me. My nose was bleeding so much that they actually thought it was broken. Luckily it wasn’t but got ALOT of attention that I really didn’t want=)

i would definitely leave a class early if i didn’t like it- why stay if you aren’t enjoying yourself, you know?

I would def leave a class if it sucked! I rather do something I enjoy…
I stopped going to Zumba because the instructor was a snob and I refused to pay and have to deal with her.
Dude I don’t think my phone likes you! It erased your phone number again grrrrrr

I hate when instructors suck!! Being one, I know how important it is to make people feel welcome. I totally would have left!

Aw! Sorry your class was spoiled!
Those salads look yummy, though!

I will leave classes that I don’t like, if they’re that bad. I actually like the body sculpt classes where you do arms/legs/cardio all combined, just seems a lot more efficient. I ignore the teachers if they yell at me, though I appreciate them correcting my form. “Come on Julie, what are you here for entertainment? Pushups!”

awe. sorry your class didnt work out.
Depends on how bad i hated it.
haha. I quit karate after a day when i was younger.
but joined kickboxing. LOVED that!!
that sandwhich looks awesome! So does your WF salad.. but when dont they look good!?;)

i would DEF leave a class early if I didn’t like it. I am paying to be there, and if it is a crappy isntructory or I dont like the class, i wouldn’t waste my time! I acutally have when we had a sub once for spin…the instructor was just terrible! bad music, no talking on her part, sooo i walked out!
sorry the class wasnt as good as expected, it never helps that the instructor is MEAN…i mean maybe they can be powerful and bold and ‘jillian michaels’ esque, but not MEAN!
those health sandwiches always look so good! i wish we had those near me!! it has awesome stats!
have a great day missy!

I took one class with an instructor like that…..it was miserable. I wanted to walk out the whole time!

Ugh….sorry about the crappy class! I DEFinitely would leave early if I didn’t like a class. Well, I guess it depends on the situation (like I’d feel weird if I were in the front!), but it would totally turn me off if someone teaching were mean like that!

1. yes i have left before!!
your whole foods salad is so ballin. going there this weekend and gettin me some of that!

I would probably stick with a class ’till the end even if I didn’t like it. You only had 10 minutes left
The best class I ever went to was a Kickboxing class. I had no idea what I was getting into, but it was awesome. The teacher was tough, but in a fun/nice way.
I can’t believe how much you eat out. There is no way I could afford to do that, but the food does look really good and look like they are things I could make easy enough.

My first EVER gym class was a salsa aerobics class about two years ago. The instructor got there way late and looked like she was trying to be shakira or somthing. She forgot to turn on her mic and kept saying it was broken…when someone used it right before her. I couldnt hear her and her directions were poor. she said things like “make it sexy” and i am a salsa dancer- i had no idea what she was doing. 90% of the people taking the class walked out- including me. worst class ever!
yesterday i did day one of c25k and i feel pretty awesome about that
yum on that salad! been craving tofu like nobodies business!

I would totally leave the class. Why would you stick your butt out when lifting weights? It doesn’t sound like proper alignment. The trainers I’ve worked with always told me opposite. Weird. At least your other class was good.
I love Whole Foods. I want to go there tonight. Maybe the bf will take me…
[Reply]
No I stay and finish the class….which stinks because it’s really a waste of time. haha.
I took a cardio kickboxing class one time and I hurt for over a WEEK! It hurt so bad the next day I could barely sit down on the potty. Definitely haven’t forgotten that one!
