Hello! I had a lovely day off work yesterday! I woke up and made some kale, carrot, ginger, apple, lime, and cucumber juice!
I then went into the city for some Core Fusion. I pretty much relaxed the rest of the day until a fun dinner date!
We decided to try out the 5 Burro Cafe in Forest Hills. I walk by it all the time and there are always tons of people waiting outside. I got confirmation from Mo Diva that it is well worth the wait! We figured that a Monday night would be a good day to go since it would not be as packed as on a Friday or Saturday.
We got there and it was still pretty crowded! We were told there would be a 15 minute wait. It was completely fine because we got to sit at the cute bar and drink margaritas!
I loved the environment of the restaurant. It was cozy and small with tons of fun Mexican decorations.
Believe it or not, I have not had a margarita in about 2 years. I drank one too many a few summers ago and felt so sick. I decided I would stay away from tequila for a while! I gave it another try last night because I heard the margaritas were delicious there! I got a strawberry and my friend got a banana.
They were both very good! The banana was like drinking a banana daiquiri! They were really strong too!
After about 20 minutes, we were seated and immediately brought chips and salsa.
The salsa was great! It was slightly spicy and not too chunky.
After placing our order, we got 2 more margaritas: Blue Curacao and Banana.
This time we got frogs and bugs with our drinks!
I ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas.
Delicious!! There were huge mushrooms, squash, and broccoli! The rice was amazing too. I loved that everything was on one plate because it became one delicious Mexican mess! Tons of guacamole too! It tasted like it was from a real authentic Mexican restaurant. Much better than the chain restaurants!
Mo Diva said I had to get the Steak Fajitas so my friend got them! Sorry for the dark pictures!
I had a few pieces of steak. Monique…you were right! We both LOVED the steak. It was so flavorful and moist.
All of the sudden while I was eating, the alcohol hit me! I went from feeling fine one minute to completely drunk the next! My face got all warm and I felt like I could not eat another bite. I had trouble drinking my 2nd margarita. Ohh tequila…
Someone thought it was hilarious that I couldn’t see straight all of the sudden! Lol. I chugged some water for a while and felt much better. We were going to leave after that but we were slightly debating getting one more beer or drink. Somehow the server convinced us to get another margarita. My drunky-self agreed! We were going to just split one but the server brought us a complimentary drink! So nice!!!
We got more frogs! We were going to tell the server that there were bugs in our food and we wanted a refund. I’m sure he’s heard that one before though.
They are fun toys when drunk.
I seriously loved 5 Burro Cafe!! The food was great, the service was awesome, and we got a free drink! I would definitely recommend it for anyone in Queens!

Those margaritas look good. I don’t have them often, but I like margaritas. I can only drink one though without feeling really full.

Hi Missy!! I’m SO glad this place was better than that last horrible meal !!! Everything looks like so much fun…especially the frogs in the drink. hahaha and who ever thought of drinking colorful drinks out of jars was a genious…that looks…almost better than oats in a jar! (gasp?!?!) hahah
