10 Minute Mexican, Polar Solutions, 1st Yoga Attempt!

I am going to start off by recapping back to dinner last night since it was a yummy one! I stared inside my refrigerator and freezer for a few minutes having no clue what to make. I decided it would be a good night for some 10 minute Mexican!

Amy’s Burritos always come to the rescue when in doubt of what to make for dinner!

I made a nice big plate of frozen veggies and a salad for the side!

Mexican would not be complete without tortilla chips!

I also made use of my wonderful Big S Farms salsa!

I melted a slice of Alpine Lace White American on my burrito. It makes it 100 times better than it already is!

Wonderful Mexican meal made in less than 10 minutes!

I think I underestimated how long Emily’s Donuts would keep me full for this morning! After 3 donuts and a Chobani, I felt so stuffed and nauseous! They seemed small but I think one would have done the trick for breakfast! Especially with all the protein that is in the Chobani! Still very enjoyable though :)

I felt much better after doing my half hour on the elliptical at lunch! I got incredibly starving right after the gym! I got back to work at 1 and had my turkey and ham wrap!

I brought the usual Honey Dijon Cape Cod Chips for the side. Still trying to finish that bag!

Look what came at lunch!!!!

I know what you are probably thinking…another freebie? Nope! I have been dying to order Barney Butter for some time now but missed out on the free shipping code a few months ago. Dori generously gave me 2 of the creamy packets to try and I fell in love.

Last week, I got the amazing e-mail from Barney Butter offering me a free shipping code! I could not decide which kind to pick so I caved about bought the packets, the crunchy, and the smooth! I plan to leave the packets in my desk at work and take home the jars. Very exciting!

Polar HRM Issues
In regard’s to yesterday’s post about my heart rate monitor, I think I came up with a solution thanks to some wonderful suggestions. Chris from Polar USA actually saw my post and gave me some very helpful feedback. I thought I would share it in case anyone else ever has the same problems.

Missy

Chris from Polar USA here:)

I’m sorry to hear your having an issue with the strap. I hate to say it, but it sounds like you aren’t washing the strap:) The electrodes are actually built into the fabric , so if they get dirty or any kind of corrosion it causes exactly what you are describing. Following the maintenance as outlined in the manual will make it last a long long time:) This includes regular washing in the washing machine(no dryer)

Also make sure you unsnap the transmitter from the belt whenever you aren’t using it. It will use the battery if you leave it on.

Try this – give it a wash, make sure the snaps are clean also. Try it out. If you are still having an issue, email me @ Customer.service.usa@polar.fi. I will take care of anything. We stand behind our products!

In regard to your comment on getting something without a strap – please don’t. Chest straps are the most accurate and reliable way to measure heart rate. You will end up being completely frustrated with a strapless monitor. If you want something to measure speed/distance. We have the FT and RS products that will give you this information also.

If you choose to go this route – I can give you a trade in discount for a new model. Anything you want.

Let me know how this goes – sorry for the long post:) Nice blog BTW. The wrap made me hungry!

Chris @ Polar USA

Thanks Chris!! I have to admit I only washed my strap one or two times in the washing machine. I usually just run it under the sink with soap after every workout. It is hard to use a washing machine each time since I work out so much and the machines in my apartment cost $2.00 a wash. I will definitely try to do it more since this must be the reason my heart rate rarely registers.

I am also considering trading my F7 in for a model that tracks distance as well. I figure that if I am going to invest in a pricey product like this, I should go all out. Last weekend when I walked for 2 hours in the park, I was also very curious to know how many miles it was. I hope to attempt running outside too so it would be nice to know the distance. I am going to start researching other models and then decide!

Yoga

I took a yoga class once in my life and did not like it. I had a very hard time relaxing and kept stressing about when the class would be over. I want to like it so bad. I see how many bloggers practice yoga every day and love it. I know it would benefit me greatly since I have such a hard time relaxing and sleeping at night. Right now, I rely on melatonin to fall asleep! I would also like to become more flexible and toned!

Last week I received my daily Vital Juice newsletter. It included 2 free guest passes to a Core Strength Vinyasa class at The Fierce Club. The class combines cardio and muscle toning with an emphasis on firming your middle.

The class sounds like it would be more up my alley than traditional yoga so I decided to give it a whirl! Dori and I will be attending tonight. I am very nervous and excited at the same time but hope that I enjoy it so I can start practicing yoga on a regular basis!

I am off because I have some work to do for my sister’s bridal shower. We had to change the date because she found out last week she will be working in France during the month of May. The shower was supposed to be in May so we are going back and forth trying to pick a date! We may also have to change the location too because she wants it in NY and my mom wants it in Philly. It is stressful so I better go get to work!

Wish me luck at yoga tonight!

**Attention: CaronRun: You have till this Friday to claim your Always Infinity Gift Bag. I will choose a new winner on Saturday if I do not here from you. Thanks!!

I think I need to try those amy’s burritos. I’ve never tried anything by Amys! That is sad.

glad you got an answer about the HRM!

We love Amy’s burritos too! Interesting info about the HRM. My first thought was that you weren’t wetting it enough before exercising. You know how you have to wet the part that goes across your chest (not the part that gets tossed in the washer)? I’ve found if I don’t wet mine enough it will jump around with my stats.

Andrea: I wet it before each workout since I’m guessing it is the washing machine thing. We will see if that works :)

ooohhh….I love me some barney butter!

I haven't done a yoga class, not sure if I would like it. it seems like it would be boring & not enough cardio? True? Maybe not? Have fun at the class with Dori, can't wait to hear how it went!

Jen: It really depends on the type of yoga. The first class I took about a year ago was boring stretching. It did not seem like a workout to me and I had no patience. Tonight’s yoga was vinyasa yoga which is continuous stretches. I burned a sweat and am really sore! I loved it! I guess you have to find which type is right for you. They say give yoga 3to 5 chances before deciding if you like it!

That is awesome! When I first heard about cleaning it, I thought she meant the actual monitor strap, but I guess she just means the fabric part? I wash that, but like you, just undet the sink and I usually leave them connected when I don’t have it on. Good stuff!!! I wonder if the whole world gets to trade in – LOL!

I’m excited to see what you think of yoga! I want to buy a package SO badly. And it does help with the sleep, for sure (coming from a Melatonin-addict myself).

I REALLY want to try the crunchy BB. I’ve tried the creamy, and it’s WONderful. :-)

So cool that Chris from Polar left you that message. Just so you know, I have been washing my strap in a washing machine only when I do a load (which is about every 4 days for me – I work out a lot too), but just throw it in when you do a load, that should help with the problems. I don’t think you should have to machine wash it every time!

Hope you like Yoga, it’s definitely a different mindset from cardio, but well worth the cross training.

Can’t wait to hear about the yoga! I want to use that same pass from Vital Juice myself at some point…

I have had similar issues with my Polar FT60 HRM. I also have only washed once or twice in the washing machine, but wash in the sink after every use. I work out 5-6 times a week, so the washing machine each time is a little much. I am going to give the suggestions a try.

I have also heard about interference from other machines at the gym, which does make sense, as I go to a large gym.
